Hot & Spicy: De La Cruz Saga (32 page)

The phone rings. “Thank you for calling De La Cruz Inc. Jose Enrique speaking. How I can help you?” he asks.

“Hola, Jose Enrique. This is Hector Lopez. I’m calling because I want to meet your building designer at the site mañana before you start building. I want to review a few details with him,” said Lopez, walking to his carro.

Jose Enrique heard him and cannot believe him.
This is unreal, but he is the client, and we will make him feliz at any cost,
he thought, trying to be pleasant y smiles. “Si, Senor Lopez. What time will you like Tony to meet you?” he asks, waiting for him to advice.

“Nine will be good,” said Senor Lopez with a smile, thinking,
great, they do keep their promise to please the client.

“Okay, Senor Lopez. Tony will be there at nine,” said Jose Enrique, ending the call.

Wow. Okay. Take a deep breath and calm down. He is still a client, and we don’t know for sure that he is involved with the cartel. I need to tell Tony.
He stands up striding down the hall to Tony’s office. He walks up to where Tony is drawing up a design. “Primo, you look busy,” he said smiling, always enjoying watching his primo come up with his great designs.

“Si, I’m finishing up the last design for our new client,” he said with a smile, enjoying his work.

“Primo, Senor Lopez called, and he is requesting that you meet him mañana at the job site. He has some concerns and wants to go over the process. He requests that you meet him at nine,” he said, looking at Tony, knowing very well that this doesn’t make him feliz. “Will you like me to go with you?” he asks, not liking the idea of any of la familia spending too much time with Senor Lopez, just in case.

“No, primo, I will go, and it really is no big deal. It will also be a little change in mi routine,” he said smiling, continuing to draw his design.

“Okay, primo. If you change your mind or need anything, let me know,” said Jose Enrique, walking out, returning to his office to finish his work before lunch.

Yeah, then I will spend lunch with mi amor
, he thought with a grin.

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

“MI
AMOR
,
ARE
YOU
READY
for lunch?” asks Jose Enrique, walking into Jessy’s office. I know if I don’t come and get her, she will not remember what time it is. She has been working hard.

“Is it lunch time?” she asks with a smile, looking up into his hermoso green ojos.
I love him so much
, she thought, getting up to go into his brazos.

“Si, I saw Bella y Monique down the hall going to lunch. Didn’t you hear them say they are leaving?” he asks, looking at her bella cara and noticing how exhausted she is.

“I did hear them say they are leaving, but then I just got all caught up on mi design that I forgot,” she said, hearing her stomach growl for food.

“I’m hungry, mi vida,” she said, pulling him closer to give him un beso.

“What do you want to eat?” he asks, giving her un beso quickly to hear what she wants to eat.

“I want a sandwich with a piece of chocolate cake,” she said with a grin, knowing very well that she is craving.
I need to take a pregnancy test soon
, she thought, kissing him again.

“Okay, mi amor,” said Jose Enrique, pulling her next to his side y walking out the door to take her to get some food.

“Mi vida, what’s bothering you?” she asks, knowing that he is concerned. “Are you still worrying about tu familia y those criminals?” she asks.

“Si, mi amor, because I’m scared that they will harm you, mi familia, or la familia company,” he said, helping her into his carro.

They went to have lunch, and Jessy ate half of the cake with gusto.
Hmmm, that is yummy
, she thought smiling.
Yeah, I’m craving because I never ate chocolate cake before
, she thought with felicidad.

“Mi amor, I can see that you were hungry, and I’m glad that you ate well. You haven’t been eating much lately,” he said with concern, standing up, pulling her into his side. They stroll to the carro.

“Mi vida, I think that you need to give me un beso,” she said, leaning into him before he leaves to return to work.

He leans into her and gives her un beso before returning to his office.

Paty knocks on his door and opens it, walking in smiling. “Hermano, Carlos wants to say hi,” she said, looking around the office and noting that he is by himself.
I wonder why he has the door close.

“Hola, Carlos! How are you today?” asks Jose Enrique, getting up, extending his mano in greeting.

“I’m doing great, amigo. How are you doing? I have been concerned,” said Carlos, taking a seat.

“Hermano, I need to return to finish some paperwork,” said Paty with a smile, turning to Carlos. “See you later,” she said walking out.

Carlos turns to see her walk out, thinking,
Wow, she has a great rear end, and she’s mia, only mia.

He then turns to look at Jose Enrique who is looking at him checking out Paty with one of his eyebrows up in a question.

I think I better talk real fast before he gets real pissed off
. “Jose Enrique, I’m seeing Paty, and I’m serious about her,” he said, seriously praying that he has no objections. “I want to marry her.”

Jose Enrique looks at his amigo and sees that he is truly serious.
He is in love with Paty. I can see it in his ojos. Okay, no problema as long as he marries her quickly because I know they have been together by the possessive look he has on his cara.

“I only know that you better marry her quickly or else I’m after your ass,” he said, seriously looking at his amigo’s cara get embarrass y incriminating.
Yeah, just like I thought.

“Si, Jose Enrique, as fast as we can. We will be getting married this Friday in Vegas and after by the church. I don’t want to wait any longer,” he said, knowing very well what Jose Enrique is concerned with and agreeing.

“I see that we are in agreement. I will keep this from mis padres. Are you planning on leaving after work on Friday?” asks Jose Enrique, wanting to know the details to make sure everything was legit.

“Si, we will be leaving after she gets off, unless we can leave earlier?” he asks, looking at Jose Enrique, wondering if he will help him cover her absence. “Can you cover her absence en tu casa? I also want to stay the night on Saturday.”

Jose Enrique sits there, looking at his amigo.
I know he is serious. I also know how frustrating it is not being able to be with tu amor.

Paty will be his esposa, and who knows what mis padres will do. What if they do the same as Jessy’s padre did and not be able to be together until after the church ceremony takes place? Hmmm, what should I do?

“Okay, amigo. I will cover for Paty,” he said, looking at him.

“Thanks, amigo,” said Carlos with a smile.
Now it makes it easier to question him about the calls and what they’re doing. I’m part of la familia and so is mi hermano.

“Jose Enrique, I’m real concern with what transpired ayer. I want to know how I can help you. I don’t want you and la familia to become involve with those criminals. They will make yours and la familia’s vida miserable,” said Carlos, praying that he will confide in him.

“Amigo, you’re right. We don’t want to get involved with these criminals. Mi familia has worked hard to have what we have. Ricky and Tony are monitoring our jobs y materials. We have verified our orders that we have with our suppliers. Gracias a Dios that our padres made us all learn every position when building on the job sites,” said Jose Enrique, noticing how concern his amigo is.

He should be concern if he is serious about mi hermana. This will also affect him in the long run
. “We also have established security guards at the each job sites, our parking garage, and as you can see, you had to get a badge today. Security has been implemented permanently in la familia’s company,” he said, looking at Carlos.

“That sounds like you have gone in the right direction. Have you put security guards outside tus padres’ and tios’ casas?” he asks.
I’m concern with the possibility of the cartel trying to kidnap his padres to pressure him to associate,
thought Carlos with alarm.

“No, we didn’t think of that. Do you think that they will do something that low? Of course, they will. They are the scum criminals of the entire underworld. What was I thinking?” he said, running his manos through his pelo in frustration. “I better call Bella and get her to place some security on our padres’ casas,” said Jose Enrique, calling Bella.

“Prima, do you have a minute, I need you to come over to mi office?” said Jose Enrique with urgency.

“Si, primo, I’ll be on mi way,” she said, leaving her office, forgetting about dreaming of Greg for the moment.
He sounds stress,
she thought, walking into his office, looking at him undoing his tie. “Primo, what’s wrong?” she asks, concerned with how he looks.

“Bella please set up security for our padres’ casas. We forgot to protect our padres,” he said, standing up pacing like un loco.

“Si, primo, I’m on it,” said Bella, going to his phone, contacting the security company that she hired the day before. Bella installed the best security monitoring system and some outside guards at each casa.
We cannot allow anything to happen to our padres.

“Primo, security is in place. They will install alarms inside each casa mañana. Are you okay?” said Bella, concern with how Jose Enrique looks.

Jose Enrique takes deep breaths, trying to calm his panic.
I need to take control of our vidas and make sure that mi familia isn’t hurt in any way
. “Si prima, gracias,” he said, sitting down, breathing slowly, y deep, trying to regain his calm.

“Okay primo,” she sat down, wanting to monitor her primo for a few minutes. “Primo, I have scheduled a meeting every day for four weeks with the financial advisor that you wanted me to call, Gregory Preston McKenzie,” she said with a huge smile.

“For that long?” asks Jose Enrique with curiosity, looking at his prima Bella.

“Si, primo, he said that he needs to review our entire financial status y see what will be beneficial for la familia compania,” said Bella, looking at her primo.

“I see,” he said, looking at his amigo Carlos, wondering if something else is going on. “Okay, prima, just let me know what’s transpiring,” he said, observing Bella and noticing how feliz she is.
Hmm, I have to look into what is making her so feliz.

“Si, primo, I will. Are you okay?” she asks, looking at him.

“Si, prima, I am, thanks for coming, and taking care of our padres’ security,” he said appreciative of her quick managing.

“Okay, primo. I need to leave,” she said, standing walking to the door. She turns to see that he is okay and turns to smile at Carlos. “Adios, Carlos,” she said, leaving.

“Adios, Bella,” said Carlos, looking at his amigo begin to look better. “Amigo, I want you to know that you can count on me in anything,” he said, looking into his ojos.

“Si, Carlos, I know, and especially since you and tu hermano are part of la familia,” he said, observing him. “Carlos, before you leave, I want you to meet mi novia,” said Jose Enrique smiling with pleasure, standing. They exited his office, strolling down the hall, turn, continues down another hall, y enters Jessy’s office.

“Mi amor, are you done?” he asks, going to Jessy and giving her un beso on her cheek, as she looks up from her paperwork smiling at him.

“No, mi vida, I’m almost ready. Mona just left,” she said, turning to look at Carlos with curiosity, and smiles.

Wow, what a bella chica. No wonder Jose Enrique is crazy about her.
Carlos smiles at her.

“Mi amor, I want you to meet mi amigo Carlos. He is also Paty’s novio y Gabriel’s hermano,” he said smiling enjoying her astonishment. Si she is surprise.

“Wow, when did Paty get a novio?” she said, standing, smiling at Carlos, thinking,
Mi amiga hasn’t told me about him. Hmm, what’s going on?
She extends her mano. “Mucho gusto, Carlos,” said Jessy, greeting him with a huge smile.

“Mucho gusto, Jessy,” said Carlos amused, recognizing that she is wondering where in the hell he came from. “Si, Paty es mi novia,” he said, smiling.

“Si, mi amor, and Paty will be done in a few. She is finishing up some paperwork. I just wanted to introduce you to Carlos,” he said, leaning down giving her another beso on the cheek.

“I will see you later. You will be done soon?” he asks her, looking into her hermoso golden ojos.

“Si, mi vida,” said Jessy, smiling at Jose Enrique with todo su amor.

“I don’t want you walking out to the garage by yourself. I will wait for you in mi office. Let me know when you’re done, and I will come get you,” he said, turning strolling out of her office.

“Adios Jessy” said Carlos.

“Si, adios” said Jessing grinning at Carlos. Wow mi amiga has some explaining to do.

Carlos follows him down the hall back to his office, wanting to learn more information. “Amigo, I want to know if you heard from your job site manager. What did he say?” asks Carlos, sitting down on the chair in front of his desk.

“We haven’t heard from him. I don’t know what happen to our order. We decided to handle our orders and monitor our job site like we always did before. We cannot rely on employees,” said Jose Enrique with anger, looking at Carlos.

“Okay, amigo. I think that you y tu familia have taken a good approach. I was just real worried,” he said, standing up. “I need to leave. I will see you mañana,” he said smiling, looking at his amigo, praying that he didn’t lose his friendship.

“Adios, amigo, y welcome to la familia,” said Jose Enrique pleased, thinking,
I can’t get mad at him. I did the same thing, and I understand. I just need to make sure he marries Paty. That’s it.
