Kate's hands crept up to rest on his forearms, and then of their own volition they traveled up his arms, to his shoulders, his back, and she felts his hands slide down from her neck to her back, pulling her towards him until their bodies were pressed together.Kate could feel his heart beating, knew it echoed her own. His hands were pulling up her sweater to stroke her back through her thermal t-shirt, kneading her back and shoulders as their kiss deepened. She played and rubbed her tongue against his, her heart racing and a heat uncurling from her belly to spread down and pulse between her legs. She'd never felt real desire before, and it was heating her from head to toe.

"Kate, you're so beautiful. You're not like any girl I've ever seen," he murmured, rubbing his cheek against hers like a cat. He sat back to strip off his sweater, revealing a white thermal shirt underneath. His nipples were hard, and the shirt stretched across the ripples of his abs, as he leaned back to stoke the fire.

When he turned back around, Kate slowly and deliberately crossed her arms to grip the edge of her sweater and peel it off. Her small breasts needed no bra, and Josh's eyes dilated as he took in her delicate, hardened nipples straining against her tight undershirt.

"God, Kate, I want you so bad, but this is too soon. Isn't it."

"Josh, I've fantasized about a moment like this with you since I first saw you in cafeteria last March. There's no way I want to stop now," she said confidently. Seductively leaning forward to move panther-like closer to him. He reached out when she was close enough, grasping her under the arms and effortlessly seating her on his lap, wrapping her legs around his waist.

Still holding her, he nuzzled his mouth across a hard nipple, sending shock waves and a flow of warmth between her legs. She slid her hands through his hair, holding his head while his tongue rasped against the t-shirt, the fabric getting damp and wet. He slowly let her slide down so he could kiss her deeply again, his other hand coming up to cover her other breast, then knead it, then thumb the nipple which drew uncontrolled groans from her.

"Touch me, Kate," he whispered. Guiding one of her hands to his crotch. She felt him leap to life beneath her hand, hard as metal. She gently squeezed, exploring, oddly not shy at all. He buried his head against her neck, kissing, nibbling, licking and kissing again, and he guided her body backwards to the bed roll. He sat back to look at her, admiring her body, his face set in disbelief.

"I can't believe it. I never thought…"

"Make love to me Josh. Please," she held out her hand, taking his hand and placing it at the juncture of her thighs and pressing. He groaned, and moved his hands to her waistband and zipper, deftly opening and then peeling away her ski pants. He then did the same with her thermal underwear, leaving her in sexy, white boy short panties.

He laid beside her, and turned her so they faced each other. He kissed her, rubbed her back, and slid his hand down to squeeze and massage her round, firm backside. Next he slid his hand inside her underwear, causing her to shiver.

"Are you sure?" he hesitated, real concern in his voice. Her answer was to roll to her back and slide closer to him, putting her hand over his as it naturally slid to her front, resting on her most private place.

"I'm so sure, Josh," Kate said, sighing as his hand pressed against her and she pressed her hips to apply even more pressure.

In an instant, Josh had pulled her panties down and gotten his own clothes off. He gently slid her thermal t-shirt off and they looked at each other's bodies with awe and excitement. As Kate lay on her back, Josh leaned on one arm over her head and ran his other hand from her neck, down to her pert, round breasts, smoothing his palm over each one lovingly, then slid lower over her belly across to her hip. As his hand moved, Kate naturally widened her legs, wordlessly giving him her final permission.

He moved over her, covering her petite body with his own, taking his time to be gentle on first entry, even though she could see the tension of holding back in his face. There was a short pain, then a warm ache which turned to incredible pleasure as he moved inside her. His mouth reached down to fasten on her nipple, his tongue laving it over and over, as Kate hung on to her shoulders. She felt her body surging toward something, but she was too mindless to express any thoughts out loud. She only knew she didn't want him to stop.

And Josh didn't want to stop either, moving faster and faster until they both gasped out loud, air gusting out until they became little cries. Their bodies were covered in sweat, but their minds had burst into a thousand stars that were slowly settling back on their bodies like dew. Josh collapsed on his side, carefully pulling Kate next to him. He pulled a blanket over them both as they breathed in the husky aroma that now filled the warming hut.

Kate blinked rapidly as the man of her memories stood in front of her.

"Kate," he said huskily, his arm moving as if to touch her in some way and then falling back to his side. Josh's eyes locked with hers, and suddenly Kate found her breath frozen in her throat. He looked like he'd stepped right out of a GQ magazine, and she became self-conscious of her pink hoodie and torn-at-the-knee
Levis
.

"Josh," she said in a croak. She cleared her voice and tried again. "I'm…shocked to see you here."

"Yeah, I feel a little of the same. Are you meeting someone? Can I buy you a drink?" Josh asked, finally touching her elbow and slightly turning to head back to his seat.

"Um, I am but they're not here yet. A drink would be nice." Kate followed him back to his place at the bar, and he picked up his beer and led them to a quiet corner.

"What have you been doing these last 16 years? I always wished I'd stayed in touch after we moved away, but…" he trailed off, staring into her eyes.

Kate cleared her throat and decided to come clean. "Well, college, and then work. I got married a few years ago. I'm just waiting for Dan to join me now. He went out onto the back veranda." Was it her imagination, or did a little of the light die out of his eyes?

"I was married. Divorced. But I have two incredible boys, Matt and Stewart. They're in the games room having some kind of video battle. Do you have any kids?"

"No. Wanted some, but I guess it wasn't meant to be."

"That's too bad. You'd be a great mom."

The waitress brought Kate an Irish Coffee that Josh had ordered, and they talked about almost everything possible except their mind-blowing time in the warming hut. Until Josh looked around the room after a lull in the conversation. "This place has such great memories for me. What about you, Kate? Do you have memories? Do you have regrets?"

Kate looked deeply into his eyes, sure that her own were mirroring the regret she didn't stay in touch either, after their trip, and a deep, old longing she just realized she'd been carrying for years.

"Not a single regret, and yes. I have many, many memories." Kate said in a choked voice.

Josh reached out and touched her hand, looking down at her elegant fingers as he traced each one. Kate couldn't bear the contact, and pulled away using her watch as a cover.

"Oh my goodness, look at the time. I don't know where Dan got to, but I should probably head back to the room."

Josh shot out a hand, gripping hers. "Come skiing with us tomorrow. Just a few runs. For old time's sake. Would you?"

Kate looked from his hand to his face, his dimpled scar reflecting the light of the fireplace, his grey eyes penetrating her heart. "Alright. What time?"

"
Nine a.m.
sharp, out at the Double Diamond lift."

They both smiled.

In the lobby Kate spotted Dan near the doorway to the restaurant. He was talking to the very attractive hostess, who was skillfully taking small steps back to broaden the space between them. Kate's anger simmered, until she realized she'd just been doing the same thing.

"Hey, I'm feeling tired. I think I'll go up to the room." Kate said, startling Dan from his conversation.

"Kate, I was just getting the inside scoop on the dinner menu. Are you sure you're not hungry? We could grab a light dinner if you like."

"No, like I said, I'm pretty beat. You go ahead though," and with a small amount of surprise, Kate didn't mind in the least if he didn't come upstairs.

Dan hesitated, looking carefully at her face.
He's probably looking for signs of a freak out,
she thought.
I can't blame him. There was a time when I was terribly jealous.
"Okay," he said, "I'm going to grab a quick bite, then I'll be up."

Up in the room, Kate undressed slowly and ran a hot bath. As she let the water run through her fingers, her mind filled with visions of Josh. He hadn't really changed much in 16 years. If anything, he was more solid, had more muscle. He still towered over her and made her feel protected. He'd touched her more over their drink than Dan had in the last year.

She slid out of her robe and into the hot, scented water. Pieces of the past floated back into her mind. The feel of his rough, hairy legs against her smooth ones, his large hands covering her breasts, and how hot his tongue felt when it licked her skin. She pulled the hand cloth into the water and dragged it up over her chest as her eyes closed. She imagined the roughness of the cloth was his hands, and she felt her nipples tighten into buds and her mind envisions those hands caressing and squeezing. She moved the cloth lower and pressed it against her innermost self, imagining his hands there, too—exploring, pressing, sliding. She remembered how he'd entered her all those years ago, slowly, reverently, caring about her comfort. How his head had dropped as he took a breast into his mouth and sucked. Her hand pressed the cloth against herself rhythmically, in time to her memories of his motions. Like a tidal wave pouring over a low wall, her orgasm swelled and overwhelmed her, tensing her legs until they pushed against the end of the tub, arching her back until her nipples were cooled to tiny pebbles by the outside air. Her breath came out in one long sigh as she floated back to Earth.

The next morning Kate woke up full of nervous excitement. After her bath she'd curled up in bed and had fallen immediately into a deep, luxurious sleep. She could feel it as she stretched the sleep out of her bones—a restfulness she hadn't felt in a long time. She hadn't even given a thought to Dan, whom she saw had huddled his large body onto the couch sometime in the night. She crossed the room to stand beside him, looking down at his slack face. His mouth hung open and his skin had the pasty colour of a night spent drinking. She turned abruptly towards the bathroom and the day that lay ahead. She would worry about Dan and their marriage when she got back. For a little time this morning, out on the slopes with Josh and his family, she was going to forget she had any troubles at all. And for once, Dan can worry about where
she
is.

The hill was bustling with skiers and sledders. Kate tugged on the edge of her black ski jacket mostly out of nerves at meeting Josh's kids. Looking around at the people, laughing and sharing a fantastic experience with their families, she realized what she'd been missing out on. As her eyes scan further, she sees three people waving wildly at her from the base of the chair lift.

"Good morning!" Josh called as she skied over, "I hope you slept well. We're going to run you ragged today, right boys?"

Kate smiled, thinking about how well she slept…and why. The boys laughed and agreed to the challenge.

"Boys, this is Kate. She was my high school's best skier who never joined the ski team. Kate, this is Matt and Stewart." The boys politely said hello, and asked her why she'd never joined the ski team. All four stood chatting until the chair took them up to the top of the hill.

It was an exhilarating morning for Kate, as the boys really did give her a challenge with every run. Some Kate won, some the boys won. They were very much like their father, with their twinkling grey eyes, but Matt was a daredevil with a mop of curly, ash blond hair, while Stewart was just as skilled a skier, but more technical. When he spoke, it was thoughtful and with dry humour. Kate adored both of them.
