His Perfect Wolf (Mystic Wolves Book 2) (12 page)

One of the other men
helped her stand when she obviously couldn’t do it alone.

“Make her walk without
help.” Rickard growled the words.

“I hate you.”

Quicker th
an a snake, Rickard slapped her on the opposite side. He
didn’t let her fall to the ground. Instead he pulled her to him and licked her
blood. “Good. I’ll enjoy it so much more knowing you hate me.”

Knowing she would
anger him, but uncaring, she gathered s
pit and blood
in her mouth and spat it in his face. His roar of outrage shook the windows
around them, and then she was flying through the air. She sent up a prayer to
the gods and goddesses to tell her mother she loved her, and asked that they
take care o
f her when she was gone. She had many
regrets, but her biggest was never telling Niall she loved him.

Chapter Seven

Niall looked around
for Alaina. It had been way too long since he’d been able to see or smell her
and an uneasy feeling was taking hol
d of him. The
front door slammed against the wall, making Bronx jump up, and grab Jory. He
was a young member of the pack, most definitely a beta, but a good kid.

“I need Niall, now.
His woman is in trouble.” Jory’s words were rushed.

Leaping over the coun
ter, uncaring who saw him, Niall grabbed the wolf by the
collar. “Where is she? What’s happened?”

Jory’s eyes rounded,
the unmistakable smell of fear wafted off of him, but he looked Niall in the
face and explained what he knew. Motioning for the rest of h
is pack to follow, he raced out the same door Jory had come
through.

His wolf recognized
their mate’s blood first, and then the sound of her terrified and pain-filled
scream rent the air. Niall reacted without thought, half shifting, hurtling
through the s
treets at blurring speed. Seeing
Rickard’s fist
raised
as if he was going to hit Alaina again,
Niall struck the other man squarely in the side, both boots driving Rickard
away from Alaina’s prone form. He risked a glance back to check on his mate,
who was
being picked up by Bronx.

“This is none of your
business. Leave now and I’ll forgive your attack.” Rickard wiped a smear of
blood from his mouth.

The other shifter
tried to step around, clearly thinking it was over. Niall made no sound,
nothing to agree or
disagree. For Rickard, he’d
signed his own death warrant when he attacked Alaina, and Niall didn’t care who
was there to witness. He and his wolf were of one accord. He closed the small
distance between them, jerking Rickard off his feet with the superior
strength that came with being an alpha. “You touched what
is mine. For that alone you are sentenced to death. You hurt my mate, and for
that your death will be painful.” That last came out more animal than man, but
Niall couldn’t call his wolf back and di
dn’t want to.

Rickard must’ve
finally realized he’d fucked up, his pupils became pinpricks as if he was
trying to shift, but couldn’t because of Niall’s alpha status.

Jett stepped up to
them. “Maybe we should take this somewhere more private, Niall. We sor
t of gathered a crowd.”

A low menacing growl
came from Niall, his claws breaking free from the tips of his fingers. “Back
the fuck off. He’s mine to kill.”

Bronx swore, and then
he heard Alaina’s voice behind him. Niall shook his head trying to clear his
thoughts. Taking a deep breath he stared at Rickard. “Make
one wrong move, and I’ll gut you where you stand. Try to run and I’ll chase you
down and make you wish you were dead. Understand?”

He waited for Rickard
to nod before motioning for Jett to take him
. Once he
felt more under control he turned slowly to face Alaina, fearing the look of
horror on her beautiful face.

They stared into each
other’s eyes. Her look was one of hope, and something he couldn’t define.

Alaina wiggled to be
free from Bronx, makin
g Niall’s protective instincts
surface.

“Easy, I’m putting her
down now,” Bronx said.

She moved toward him,
no hesitation as she slipped her arms around his waist. “I’m so sorry I left
like I did.”

He felt her pain and
honesty in her words, but didn’t unde
rstand why she’d
left. However, he wasn’t going to discuss their personal business on the street
with everyone around.

“Jett, you and Bronx
bring shithead and the others to the sacred circle.” He didn’t care that she
was hearing secrets. By the end of the
night she was
either going to accept all that he was, or he’d be paying a visit to Payton
Glade.

The only indication
that she heard was her soft inhale of breath. Her arms squeezed him tighter,
and he felt a fist constrict around his heart. Niall put his a
rms around Alaina, hoping she could take his news with open
arms like she accepted the man.

“You ready to go home,
babe?” he asked, rubbing his beard stubbled jaw on top of her head. She really
was too soft for him and his lifestyle. He was a wolf ready an
d willing to kill a man for daring to touch her, yet he
couldn’t let her go.

She nodded against
him. “Yes.”

Niall ran his hand
down her back. “Are you okay? Where did he hit you?” He kept her anchored to
him with one hand on her ass, the other he used to t
ilt
her face up to him. Seeing her split lip and bruised jaw made him swear under
his breath. “I’m going to knock every fucking tooth out of his mouth, and then
I’m going to make him lay on the ground while I stomp his fucking head in,” he
said, his voice
turning gravelly, more wolf than man.

She reached out and
covered his mouth with her hand. “Don’t. It doesn’t hurt that much. Not
anymore.”

He couldn’t scent her
lying, which puzzled him. Her soft hand rubbed along his jaw as if soothing a
savage beast,
and he found himself nuzzling into her
palm. “Let me get you home and cleaned up.” Not making any promises of what
would or wouldn’t happen to Rickard, Niall bent and lifted Alaina. Having her
close to his heart settled his wolf, allowing the man to take c
ontrol.

“I sent Chris and his
wife running. They own the Flying Pig tattoo shop down the street. Could you
get someone to check on them?”

Being a man of action,
Niall didn’t pause in his quick strides, he sent a message to Jory, knowing the
young wolf woul
d check with the owners and get back
with him.

He glanced around
him,
the streets were empty, as if no
violence had happened. “Thank you for taking care of the civilians,” he told
Raydon and River. Power emanated from the twins, and he could feel the flow
of energy they’d poured into the streets to get the people
to evacuate the area in case Niall had killed Rickard. Each man held one of the
men that had come with Rickard, both acting like they’d been forced to act on
their alphas behalf. Niall would get to
the bottom of
the story, after he settled things with Alaina.

The ride back to his
place took longer than any other time, yet passed by in a blur. His bike
rumbled into the garage. Before he could help Alaina off, she slid across the
seat to stand by the
side looking nervous.

Without hesitation he
went to her, uncaring of what tomorrow might bring. He needed to reassure
himself that she was here, that she was okay and that she was his.

Heat burst through his
veins at the first touch of his lips on hers, ca
reful
of her split lip. He walked her backward until they reached his Camaro, and
lifting her easily he placed her on the hood without breaking their kiss.

Her legs wrapped
around him, trembling even as they pulled him in closer to her. She moaned,
ripping
at the ends of his shirt trying to tug it
off.

God, he needed inside
her. “Do you like these pants,” he asked between clenched teeth.

A pretty pink flush
covered her face. “Yes. Don’t you?”

He was quickly losing
the ability to focus on anything other than
the need
to get her naked. “I knew you were going to say that.” Moving back a couple
inches he stripped her top and his, baring her gorgeous breasts covered in a
matching grey lace bra. She lifted herself up, allowing him to pull the
stretchy leather-like
leggings from her legs, taking
her panties with them. Her fuck-
me
boots had fallen off sometime during
their short walk, which he was grateful for. Unsnapping the last article of
clothing she had on, he let it drop to join the pile on the hood of his car.

His dick was so hard
when he stepped back into the vee of her thighs. She locked her legs back
around him, and he could smell her arousal.

The urgent need to
mate with Alaina was tempered by the knowledge she was unaware of his nature.
Niall swore he’d lo
ve her so good she’d accept all of
him. He brought his hands up to her breasts, cupping and massaging, his fingers
tugging on her nipples until they were hard little points.

She ground against his
cock, leaving behind evidence of her desire on the denim. H
er fingers moved between them, unsnapping the button and
releasing the zipper in an excruciating slow slide. He growled a low warning,
letting her know he was close to the edge.

“I’m just being
careful not to injure you here,” she murmured, brown eyes laug
hing up at him.

He tweaked her nipples
a little
harder,
more of her orange blossom and ginger
scent flooded the air attesting to her excitement.
“Me too.”
His voice was gravelly with need. “I
think I’m in need of something to eat, and you are just the trea
t I need.”

Pulling her to the
edge of the car, he dropped to his knees and with her legs over his
shoulders,
Niall licked Alaina like a favorite
treat. He loved hearing her scream out his name as he plunged his tongue in
deeply and drew more of her sweet flavor into his mouth. He found himself
growling, more wolf than man as he devoured everything she gave. Taki
ng little nips of her inner thighs, he licked and sucked
until she was thrashing, her breaths coming in ragged little gasps as her
orgasm crashed over her.

Only then did he stand
and force her head back with one hand in her gorgeous brown hair. “Alaina, lo
ok at me. Watch me while I take you.” He held his rock hard
erection in one hand.

Her breasts heaved
with her exhalations, but she complied, looking at him. She moaned as he slowly
entered, her pussy rippling along his shaft making him groan.

“Oh, fuck. I
don’t think…shit, don’t move.” Niall tried to still her
hips from moving up to meet him. He loved how responsive she was, how her body
seemed to be made just for his. He pulled back and plunged deep, kissed his way
to where her neck and shoulder met and bi
t down just
hard enough to hold her in place. She cried out, screamed, jerked upwards and
rotated her hips. Her arms came up, locking around his neck and held him to
her. Small teeth, sharper than he’d have thought, bit into his neck, making his
wolf howl.

There was something
magical happening, but Niall couldn’t think past the roaring in his head as his
orgasm began. He let it take him, let his control slip, excited in the ability
she had to make him, the alpha, lose all control. He felt her body clamp dow
n on him, her pussy milking, squeezing, and taking
everything his had to offer.

The orgasm ripped
through them both, her passion filled cries overflowed his mind with pure love
and joy. Niall’s mind and heart sang with love that he savored. Ecstasy unlike
any he’d ever known shook him to the core, and instantly he
felt guilty.

Very slowly he
unlocked her legs from around his hips, and slipped from her body. She had a
wondrous smile on her face that made him want to bend over and kiss her. The
fact he’d put
the look on her face, made him want to
wrap her up in his arms, and take her inside and do it all over again.

Yo, Niall. I hate to bother you, but
I’ve got three strange shifters I think we should deal with sooner, rather than
later.
Jett’s
voice came over
their private path.

Give me a half hour.
Niall cut the connection with Jett and
then opened one to his brother.

Zayn, I’m going to need you at the
sacred circle.
Instead
of leaving the path open he closed it off as well. He needed to speak with
Alaina,
ot
herwise he
was going to need to make a call to the Glades. The only person who could make
her forget all about him and his kind was Payton, but that was only if she
couldn’t accept what he was. His heart threatened to shatter if she denied him.
