“May I?” she asked, polite as a schoolgirl, and he couldn’t
deny her. He could never deny her anything.
At his brief nod, she licked the soft skin along his neck,
nipping and biting a little, like a cat seeking the best place to strike.
Her fangs were sharp as needles and Daniel stiffened against
her at the brief moment of pain before relaxing into her arms. He could
hypnotize with a word, but hers was a more subtle type of ensnarement. When she
drank from her prey, she lulled them into a haze of bliss and pleasure. He
didn’t want to resist her, he never wanted to resist her. He would let her suck
him dry, if she wished, would lie down and die for her.
It took him a moment to realize that she had pulled away.
She smiled at him sweetly, a tender red drop at the corner of her mouth before
she licked it away.
“You are too powerful by far, madam,” he rumbled, and
Genevieve contrived to look startled.
“Me? I’m only playing…”
She gasped when he seized her by the shoulders and twisted
her back down to the bed.
“You’re playing, darling,” he said, “and I think this little
game of ours has made you far too wild.”
She would have responded, but he nipped her throat
reprovingly. What started as reprimand, however, became something much more
taunting as his mouth drifted down to the tight bud of her nipple.
“I’m of a mind to keep you,” he said softly, interspersing
his words with gentle kisses to her skin. “I want you by my side, wearing the
most beautiful jeweled collar…”
“A new game?” Genevieve asked. “I think I should like that.”
For a moment, there was nothing she could do but whimper as
his tongue tickled her belly, but then she regained enough presence to grasp
his hair and pull his head up.
“I want it to be a beautiful collar,” she said, her eyes
glowing with pleasure. “I want to be able to wear it to the most elegant balls
and I want your name on it.”
Daniel laughed at her avidity. Though he would spend the
rest of the night making her sigh and moan with pleasure, now he swept her up
in his arms, holding and relishing the feel of her.
They were both older than any human could be, and with the
blessing of God and the saints, there would be no end to them. Daniel smiled at
how easily they left one game behind and how quickly they picked up another.
“Two hundred years,” he said thoughtfully. “We’ve stopped
playing hunter and hunted, and now you are my beloved little pet. I wonder
where we shall be in another two hundred years.”
“I don’t know and I don’t care because we will together, and
that is all that concerns me,” Genevieve said, planting a soft kiss on his
cheek.
