“I’m still pretty afraid.” She rolled until she could wrap her arms around his neck. “You did it, Devin.”
“I did.” He carried her past the Wolves gathered around the dead Dragons.
“Burn them.” He spoke to the group as he walked by. “They can smell their dead.
Others might come looking for them.”
“Aren’t you going to…?”
Devin pinched her arm, making her yelp as he interrupted her. “The only thing
I’m doing right now is bringing you back to my room.”
“Devin, everyone is looking. You can’t just carry me into your house.”
“Everyone,” he called out. “I’m taking my mate inside. If anyone has a problem with it, they can take it up with me tomorrow.”
“Your mate?”
“Quiet, Lena.” He ordered her and she hated to admit she liked the sound of his voice when he was being so dominant. “I’m on edge. I thought I was going to lose you.”
He took the steps two at a time entering his house. She looked down. He hadn’t limped at all. “You’re fixed.”
“The shift did it.”
“How did you…?”
“We’ll talk later.” He rounded the corner and almost collided with his father.
“Hi, Dad. Lena’s my mate. We’ll see you in the morning.” He slammed the door to his room, letting it bang behind him.
“You just let your father know what we’re going to do in here.” Horror lodged in her throat. Whether she liked it or not, she’d been raised to be old-fashioned.
“He already knew. Trust me.”
He dropped her down on the bed, looming over her. In two seconds, he’d ripped her shirt from her body. “Terrified. You fucking terrified me.”
“How do you think I felt watching you take down two Dragons?”
“I was an idiot, Lena. My Wolf is back online. I can smell you quite clearly. I can feel all of it. You’re mine. So you’d better be ready for me.”
“What do you mean?” Her core grew wet. She was certain he could smell how she wanted him, so it couldn’t be what he’d been talking about.
“I’m yours now. I’m injured, beaten, and wound up. I have no discernable direction. But I’m yours. Forever.”
Devin really couldn’t see himself as she saw him. “You’re…”
His mouth met hers and his heat consumed her. He pulled back. “You’re mine,
Lena.”
Two seconds later, he bit her shoulder. She gasped. The pain caused an intense burning, but she wanted it, craved it. Devin marked her as his mate. Things might never be right in their world but she was his.
She would never let her Wolf go.

, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.
I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.
I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I've been told I'm a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you'll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.
In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.
I'd love to hear from you!
