Forbidden Embers (23 page)

He looked up to see Cecily staring at him with worry and guilt in her eyes. His heart pounded a little heavier as he wondered just what was making her look like that. Did she know more about who he was than she had originally let on? His blood ran cold at the thought, and he automatically reached for his dagger, only to remember that he had taken it off earlier so as not to scare her.
But then she was rushing to him, her hand soft on his back as she helped him climb to his feet. “Why didn’t you tell me that you had already shifted so much today? I would never have taken off like that!”
“I wanted to see you fly. You’re beautiful and talented and great fun to be with in the air.”
Her cheeks turned that pale pink color that drove him wild, and before Logan made a conscious decision to do so, he was pulling her against him. Lowering his mouth to hers and taking her lips in a kiss that was both tender and ravenous. He wanted her—God, did he want her—and though it had been only a few hours, a few days, it felt like he’d waited forever to have her.
As her mouth met his, her tongue darting out to brush tentatively against his, he told himself to take it slow. That they had all the time in the world. That there was no rush. This was her first time, and it was both his responsibility and his privilege to make sure it was good for her, especially after the way he’d gone at her earlier, like an out-of-control, semi-desperate man out for one last joyride.
Pulling away, he led her over to the sleeping bag he had smoothed out earlier. Laid her on the silky black fabric and then just looked at her for a minute, trying to etch every second, every memory of this time, deep into his brain so he could pull it out later and examine every nuance of it. Despite everything the future held, deep inside, he knew this was going to become one of his favorite memories.
Stretching out beside her, he reveled in the feel of all that silky skin and wild, sexy hair as it brushed against his body. Cecily was all woman—lush and round and so soft and fragrant that just a look, just a touch, brought him right up to the edge of his control. And when she leaned forward, brushed his lips with hers, his dick hardened to the point of insanity.
“Do you have any idea how much I want you?” he asked, cupping the back of her head to keep her lips against his.
“Probably not half as much as I want you,” she answered, her tongue licking across his bottom lip.
“Don’t bet on it.” His hands tightened in her hair of their own volition, pulling her closer to him so that he could delve inside her mouth like he so desperately wanted to.

Cecily nearly went into sensory overload when Logan’s mouth crushed against hers. It felt so good to be held by him, kissed by him, that a part of her wanted to crawl onto his lap and never, ever let him go.
Of course, she knew that wasn’t practical, despite how close she felt to him right now, despite the fact that he was the only man she could imagine giving her virginity to. She barely knew him. And what she did know of him did not lead her to believe that he was the happily-ever-after type.
Not that she expected him to be or even wanted him to be. It was just that when he held her and kissed her, he tasted like forever, and things got all mixed up in her head.
But I can deal with all that later,
she told herself. Right now she wanted nothing more than to rub herself against him and take everything, anything, that he wanted to give her.
Logan chose that moment to nip at her lower lip, and she gasped as every thought she had melted into oblivion. She could think later, reason later. Right now all she wanted to do was feel.
He nipped at her again and she parted her lips for him, let him slide his tongue deep inside her as he so obviously wanted. He stroked his tongue against hers, circled hers, before beginning a series of slow in-and-out movements that made her crazy even as she moved to meet him thrust for thrust.
He growled, low and deep, when she mimicked his motions, and delight streamed through her at the proof that he was as affected by her as she was by him. Thrusting her tongue into his mouth, she toyed with him. Slipped and slid against him with glancing touches. Played with him. Teased him. Tormented him as she savored the sweet and salty flavor of him.
He broke away with a groan, rolled onto his back. His chest rose and fell rapidly while his hands fisted the sleeping bag.
Fear that she’d done something wrong swept through her—maybe Logan didn’t like women who tried to take control—and she leaned over him with a worried frown. “Did I do something wrong?” she asked, holding her breath as she waited for him to answer.
He barked out a laugh. “God, no. You’re doing everything right. So right that I’m afraid I’m going to lose it like some fifteen-year-old-kid with his first girl.”
She grinned, liking the sound of that. “That’s okay with me, since you’re my first.”
“That’s the point. I need to do this right, take care of you, and all I can think about is getting inside that hot little body of yours and taking you until you pass out from the pleasure.”
Her whole body turned hot at his words, her nipples tightening so fast that they actually hurt. “Is that even possible?”
He rolled over so that she was buried beneath his huge, rock-hard body, though he kept most of his weight balanced on his elbows. “Let’s find out.”
Lowering his head, he took her mouth in what he intended to be a sweet, gentle kiss.
A slow kiss.
A kiss that would gradually stoke the fire between them until Cecily forgot the nerves she couldn’t quite hide and lost herself in the pure pleasure of making love.
That’s what he intended, but the second her arms locked around his neck, he was lost. The pleasure wrapped around him, enveloped him, the taste and scent and silken feel of her taking him to the brink of his control all over again. He couldn’t move without wanting her, couldn’t breathe without needing to be inside her. He was on fire, and the only way to survive was to plunge himself inside her until she burned right along with him.
He was shaking by the time he lifted his mouth from hers to trail wet, openmouthed kisses across her cheek to the sensitive skin behind her ear. He dallied there for a moment, teasing her, just for the pleasure of hearing her gasp and moan. And then he was moving on to the long, slender column of her neck and the sweet curve of her shoulder.
He nipped and kissed, licked and sucked his way down her arm. Paused at her wrist and flicked his tongue back and forth over her rapid pulse before moving on to the soft flesh beneath her thumb. It was one of his favorite parts of a woman, and he spent a couple of minutes just kissing the fleshy part of her hand before sinking his teeth into it in one quick bite.
She cried out, jerked against him, while her free hand clutched at his hair. Loving the feel of her long, slender fingers scraping against his scalp, he laved the small hurt with his tongue until he was sure that the sting had dissipated. Then he pressed a kiss right in the center of her palm, savoring her soft, supple skin and the sweet lilac scent of her.
She moaned a little, so he lingered, gently licking the spot he’d kissed until she cried his name on a broken breath. God, he loved the way that sounded. Loved knowing that he was bringing her pleasure, and in some heretofore unexplored caveman part of him, loved knowing that no other man had ever heard her make those sounds.
Reaching up, he pulled her hand from his hair and started all over again on the left side.

She was losing her mind. There was no other explanation for the fact that she felt hot yet cold, fragile yet strong, drained yet so full of electricity that she figured she could power a small South Dakota town for at least a week. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, couldn’t do anything but feel as Logan took her apart one slow kiss at a time.
She never knew anyone could be so patient, never knew anyone could be so thorough. It was like he had all night, like the huge erection she felt against her leg didn’t matter to him. Like she was the only thing that mattered. She couldn’t imagine what he found so fascinating about her, but she wouldn’t trade this pleasure for the world.
As soon as he let her go, she wrapped herself around him and pulled him down to her so that she could explore the taste of him, as well. But he was having none of it. She’d gotten only one quick taste—a long swipe of his collar bone—before he was pushing himself off her. “None of that, darlin’,” he said with a rakish grin that shot heat straight to her sex.
“But I want to touch you, too.”
“Not yet.” He softened the rejection with the brush of his lips over hers. “I’m too close to losing control.”
“It doesn’t feel like you’re too close. You’re torturing me.”
“I’m making love to you, darlin’. That’s not even close to torture.”
“Easy for you to say,” she grumbled, a little shocked at how whiny and out of sorts she sounded. But, damn it, she was beginning to think he was never going to make love to her. “I feel like I’m going to explode at any second, Logan.”
He grinned. “And I’ve barely gotten started.”
“You can’t mean that. I’m going to die if you leave me like this.”
“Don’t worry about it. I know CPR.” He shifted so that his mouth was on the same level as her abdomen.
She had more to say to him, but then he circled her navel with his tongue and she forgot how to speak. His hands came up, cupped her breasts, moved in the same gentle circles as his tongue. She arched her back, tried to get him to move upward toward her waiting nipple, but he seemed determined to drag this out until she really did have a heart attack.
Just when she was on the brink of impatience, he brushed his mouth over her nipple, darted his tongue out and licked her, before blowing a slow, steady stream of air across the aching bud.
She did scream then, her breathing coming faster and faster as she waited for him to do it again. He made her wait, one second, two, and then his mouth was on her. His hands kneaded her breast as he sucked her nipple deep into his mouth and then nipped at her, using his teeth and tongue to sting and soothe and deliver more pleasure than she’d ever dreamed possible.
Her dragon roared and scratched as it struggled for a way to break through, to get to the surface and to the man who was slowly, inexorably driving her out of her mind. But Cecily wouldn’t yield, wouldn’t give herself over to the change. There was no way she was missing one second of this incredible, mind-bending pleasure.
Logan moved from one breast to the other, one nipple to the other; sucked her hard one second and then barely touched her the next. She never knew what he was going to do, never knew what kind of pleasure to expect, and it kept her on the edge of the precipice, even as it took her higher and higher and higher.
And then, before she knew it, he was shifting again, kissing his way down her breasts as his hands moved over her abdomen and then lower, his fingers dancing over her mons and the soft curls there.
“Open your legs for me, Cecily,” he murmured, his voice low and deep and sexier than she had ever heard it.
For the first time since they’d started this, nerves assailed her. Her thighs trembled as she tried to work up the courage to open herself to him completely, to let him into this most sensitive, private place. He didn’t rush her, didn’t try to coerce her, didn’t grab on to her thighs and open her himself. He simply waited, his whiskey-colored eyes fastened on her.
Slowly, so slowly she wasn’t sure she was even doing it, she spread her thighs apart. Then held her breath and waited as his gaze shifted from her face to her sex. He didn’t touch, didn’t race to the prize, just spent long, leisurely seconds looking his fill. Her entire body was shaking and her heart was beating way too fast by the time he reached a single finger toward her and began to stroke.
“You’re so beautiful here,” he said, and it was almost a growl. “So pink and dewy and goddamned beautiful that it hurts to look at you. I want to be inside you so damn badly that I’m about to lose my fucking mind.”
They weren’t love words, weren’t the words she had dreamed of hearing from her lover, but they were real and honest and so sexy that she felt herself surrender once and for all.
“Take me,” she begged, arching to meet his finger. “Please, Logan. I need you so badly that I can’t stand it. Please make love to me. Please.”
He groaned, then lowered his head so that his tongue could replace his finger on her soft, slick folds.
She jumped at the unfamiliar caress, then melted as he swiped his tongue over her labia a second and then a third time. It felt nothing like she’d ever imagined, nothing like she’d ever dreamed about. It was hotter, wetter, sexier and more pleasurable than she might ever have guessed.
He pressed his face against her sex, inhaled. Then his fingers shifted lower, clamped down on her thighs to hold them open for him, and he thrust his tongue deep inside her. She screamed and bucked beneath him, her hands tangling in his hair as she lay back down and stared at the endless, starry sky above her. Never had it looked so rich, so dazzling, so unbelievably perfect.
When she couldn’t take it anymore, when her body was on the brink of shattering into a million irretrievable pieces, he stopped. Withdrew. And his tongue went from driving deep to fluttering silkily over her mons, her labia, her clit.
As his tongue flicked back and forth across her clit, he slowly slid one finger inside her. She stiffened at the invasion, at the feel of him deep inside her. Then he bent his finger just a little so that it pressed against the front wall of her vagina, and she shattered, just like that.
There was no slow buildup to orgasm, no gently increasing tension. She just exploded as pleasure, white-hot and unbearable, poured through her.
“Fuck, Cecily,” Logan groaned, even as he slid a second finger into her. “You feel amazing. I could stay here forever, making you come over and over again, and die a very happy man.”
