Fighting Destiny (Forsaken Sinners MC; Book 2) (Forsaken Sinners MC Series) (23 page)

I’m not sure what he was looking for out of this conversation, but he must be just as uncomfortable, or maybe it did go the way he wanted, because he nods his head and finally relaxes a bit. “Okay. Well, let’s get back out there before Toby starts tearing this house apart looking for you,” he says, which has me laughing because he’s not that far off from the truth.

When we get back outside, everyone is there and waiting. Mack starts a fire in the fire ring and everyone goes quiet for a moment of silence. Then, we all go around sharing stories of the times we’ve had with Lyle. When it’s my turn, I wipe my eyes from tears of sadness at losing him, and happiness from all the memories shared.

“I hadn’t known Lyle as long all of you, but I considered him like an uncle. When I first met him at the strip club, I knew instantly that he was a good man. He always made me feel safe, could always make me laugh, and was always there to offer a hug when I needed it. He was my Teddy Bear, of course,” I say, which has everyone laughing. “I know you all have told me numerous times that it wasn’t my fault that people were hurt or that Lyle died last week. And though I may never agree with you, I’ve come to terms with the fact that regardless of fault, we all lost a great and wonderful man. He was a brother and a friend. He was a guardian angel. So here’s to Lyle; may he rest in peace and always look over us.” I raise my beer above my head and watch everyone else do the same.

Taking a long drink, I look up into the sky and can almost feel Lyle looking down upon me. “I’ll miss you, Teddy Bear, and I will always think of you and keep your memory alive.” I whisper to myself.

EPILOGUE

Sara

When we finally make it back to Toby’s house that night, it’s past one in the morning. I’m still recovering a bit, so I feel completely drained.

“Let’s get you to bed, Doll,” Toby whispers in my ear, leaning against my back as we walk in the door. Not having enough energy to argue, or say anything, really, I nod my head and let him lead me to his bedroom.

Once inside, I let him undress me before he picks me up and carries me to bed. Placing me in the middle, I watch as he removes his shirt, then his pants and boxers. Damn, I’ll never get tired of seeing this man naked. “See something you like?” he asks with a cocky smile.

Feeling suddenly energized, I reach out to him and pull him on top of me. “As a matter of fact, I do,” I say right before I lean up and touch my lips to his.

He growls, reaching his hands up to cradle my face and take control of the kiss, deepening it. I moan into his mouth and pull on his shoulders, needing him closer―so much closer. I don’t want to be able to tell where I end and he begins. I want to be one with him.

Sensing what I need, he reaches down and pulls my right leg up around his waist, grinding his cock against me. He eases inside of me, taking his time. It’s been a while since we last connected like this, since before the whole episode with Trixie and Rick. Toby was concerned that he would hurt me if we moved too fast, too soon.

“Yes,” I moan into his ear, loving the feel of him inside of me. If we could stay like this forever, I would gladly give up anything.

“Fuck, you feel so fucking good wrapped around my cock,” Toby growls out. The way he talks to me while fucking me is enough to make me come with his words alone.

Feeling that I’m close to exploding, he slows his thrusts down a little. Even though the rhythm is slower, when he does thrust inside of me, it’s harder and deeper. It’s amazing. He reaches his hand between us and starts rubbing fast circles on my clit. “Oh my God, yes,” I yell, so close to reaching my orgasm, I’m seeing stars.

“That’s right, Doll, come all over my cock,” he says in his low, sexy voice, and I instantly explode, screaming out his name.

When I come down from my high and open my eyes, I see him staring at me with wonder. He’s barely moving, so wanting him to finish, I grab onto his ass with both hands and pull him into me. “Please fuck me, Toby. I want to feel you come inside of me.”

“Fuck, Sara,” he grits out, then starts up a punishing rhythm, pounding me into the mattress.

“Yes! Right there,” I scream, feeling another orgasm coming.

Pumping into me a few more times, I feel him stiffen before I feel the warmth of his cum fill me.

I rub my hands up and down his back while both of us try to catch our breath.

I don’t know how long we lay here like this, but I’m almost asleep when I hear him whisper, “Marry me.” I’m shocked and not sure if I heard him right. I don’t say anything or even move a muscle.

After a few silent seconds pass, he props himself up on his elbows and looks down at me. My eyes are open, but I’m afraid to look into his. If I was hearing things and he didn’t actually say that, I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed. But also, if he did say it, maybe he didn’t mean it. Maybe it was a heat of the moment kind of thing.

“Look at me, Doll,” he says, grabbing my chin and forcing my eyes on his.

When I finally comply, all I see is love. “I think I’ve loved you from the moment I saw you walk into the gym. You were everything I didn’t know I wanted, everything I wasn’t looking for, but as soon as I saw you, I knew you were mine. I love you more than anything in this world, Sara. I’d lay down my life for you, and do anything to make you smile. You make me want to be a better man. I don’t have a ring yet, but will you please say that you’ll marry me? Tomorrow, a month from now, or even a year? Just say that you’ll marry me. Be mine, Sara.”

I’m full-on crying by the time he finishes, but I manage to get out a weak ‘yes’ before he takes my mouth in a passionate kiss. This man loves me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me. I no longer have to fight this world alone.

Toby

Long after Sara falls asleep, I continue to watch her. I was so scared when I found out Rick had gotten her, but I didn’t want to think she was lost to me forever. I don’t know what I would have done if I lost her. She’s like the air I need to live.

I wasn’t planning on asking her to marry me tonight. I wanted to plan something special, get a ring and do it right, but lying here with her after making love, I just couldn’t wait. I needed her to know that she was it for me and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her by my side.

I know she was shocked and maybe even a little scared, but when she said yes, my world felt right.

For so long, I had nothing until I became a part of the club. The only thing that really made me happy, that helped me get through the day, was knowing I had a family of sorts, and my fighting career. Now, my family is complete with her in my life, and I no longer need the cage to feel whole or grounded.

While I waited for her to wake up in the hospital, I had already decided that I would no longer fight. I’m going to start training new fighters at the gym. I also want to set up more classes for women, to teach them how to protect themselves. We are going to make it free to those that are currently in shelters, trying to start their lives over after walking away from their abusive pasts. I haven’t told Sara about it yet, but my hope is that she’ll help. Maybe not with the classes, but with talking to the women―telling them her story about how she was able to move on and make a better life for herself. Maybe Dani can help too.

Finally closing my eyes, I fall asleep, knowing that today marks the start of the rest of my life. With Sara in my arms, loving me, I know we can make it through anything life throws our way. It will be her and I against the world, fighting destiny.
