Dragon Guardian (Drakins of Wyrmarach) (24 page)

He cradled the woman, Cathwren-- ah little Wren-- in his arms
against Ethan’s chest, holding her between them with utmost tenderness and
projecting relief through the link. The likelihood that this woman’s presence
was going to rock their world seemed a sure bet. Actually, it was kinda cool to
see Ethan, Mr. Calm, come all unhinged.

The shared embrace folded their feelings together and wrapped
back around him with comforting acceptance.

Caleb laughed in relief. “Yes, this is right where you
belong.”
Ethan, I am yours as much as she
is. I finally understand our connection in a mated triad. She’s made everything
make sense.
The fear of losing their twinned relationship to gain mates
evaporated.

His twin’s whispered presence joined his thoughts.
And you had doubts?
Ethan regained his
composure, part of him now.
Ah, my
brother, of course our union would be like everything else in our life,
entwined and seamless. How could this be any different than when we shift into
our Dragon, Si’Mon? Then we are aligned, as we are now with our mate.

The unspoken words sent a gruff, loving touch into Caleb’s
psyche.
Thank the Gods we’ve found her
and she finds us acceptable.

Wren seemed to gain her bearings and stood between them with
an incredulous expression. A bonding was quite an intense experience for a
human to handle.

Caleb could hear the shaking in his brother’s voice from his
reaction to the shared moment, longing for everything to happen right, as they
built on this perfect beginning, to guarantee them long term victory.

However, this initial bonding link constituted only the first
step in the Quaynar Rou, a complicated mating process that would culminate with
the three of them being gifted with mating marks from the Goddess. Nothing for
them had ever been easy.

Their future together remained fraught with possibilities for
disaster before they could be positive of a complete successful Quaynar Rou.
What they had put into motion would require a series of events steeped in
sacred traditions from antiquity.

“That’s good.”

The soft lyrical tones of her voice caressed Caleb and drew
him out of his thoughts.
What?

She seemed to be coming out of the daze the flood of merged
memories caused.

Wren’s eyes devoured him. He smiled, her sensual need was
beautiful. A male should want nothing more than the hungry appreciation of his
mate. She watched him with the intent ferocity of a lioness.

Prophecy superimposed itself over his thoughts. They’d just
bonded with the Dragon Guardian.

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Caleb prayed for the presence
of the Goddess
to bless the ceremony. The dawn streaked through the bay windows of the
Victorian Ballroom. No one had slept but when events like these happened no one
really needed sleep. Kiernan brought back from the dead and the Prince Heirs
bonded to The Dragon Guardian.

Ethan, Caleb and Wren chose to seal their claiming before
Isobeau and Kiernan. Izzy would be representative of the Arach, those human to
dragon shifters. Kiernan in his dragon form would represent the Wyrm. Maxwell
stood in as Watcher delegate out of necessity for witness. He’d found the
references that guided Caleb’s actions.

He captured her hand in his.
“Namshara, te
anevasta.”
Thank you, our love
.
Caleb knew what he needed to do, perhaps more clearly than he ever had in his
life. Their actions were ceremonial to show acceptance in sealing the claim
she’d initiated.

“You are to be our mate and Queen. You are also destined to
be the Guardian of our people. There is no record of the same woman carrying
both roles in our society. So unique it was thought to be forbidden.”

Chemicals were already flushing through the three of them
aligning their DNA on a cellular level to fulfil the impression stage of the
Quaynar Rou. They had received her blood by accident in their initial meeting.
He and Ethan had raged through a one sided mating impression to her.

The events hadn’t happened as prescribed in the history of
their people. She had gulped in their scented pheromones and their blood on her
triggered the same changes, accelerating her need for them. She’d had to battle
her way through to understanding and acceptance. She chose against all logic to
claim them both.

Now, Caleb would bind their blood exchange with the words of
their ancestors in as much privacy as custom would allow.

Ethan smiled. “We’ve broken lots of traditions and I suppose
that pattern is just beginning for the three of us.”

A sharp sound drew their attention to the side of the room.
The air split like a curtain allowing an elegant woman of timeless beauty to
step through. Her long black hair fell over her shoulders captured by an
intricate net of light like a crown, the Goddess Gelfin. Maxwell prostrated
himself on the floor like he was struck by lightning. She floated more than
walked to where they’d gathered.

She turned to Kiernan “You’re looking better than last when I
saw you. I believe you’ve chosen well.”

Then glancing to Isobeau she nodded. “--As have you. I am
intrigued by your place in all this. I’m not often surprised or curious. I find
myself experiencing both recently-- quite extraordinary.”

She smiled at Wren and cupped her chin in her palm. “You are
a delight, my daughter; you’ve ushered in a new age with quite a bang.”

The energy of the room was tense, like watching
a balloon fill
, not knowing when it might pop.

She picked up Wren’s Sword from the table and stood before
the three of them with the blade raised.

“Ethan, Caleb, my lineage sons, you have served me well. You
will restore the balance which was broken, foretold at your birth. Seek wisely
and listen to the counsel you are given.

Ethan and Caleb stood there stunned.

Wren’s psi-laughter gave them a sense of perspective.
She has that effect on people. She’s really
very nice once you get to know her.

Caleb retorted
. It’d be
helpful if she could make her vague premonitions a little clearer in the
future, to make our job just a little easier.

He suspected
Gelfin
could squash
them with a thought. Joking helped calm the nervous tension of being in the
same room with the deity who’d had such a strong impact on their adult life,
while they’d followed every vague wisp of feeling she’d given them.

Ethan spoke firm and sure. “
Nigelia
Gelfin
The
Mane’tung
is ever at your service.”

“Proceed with the sealing Warrior.” They needed to blood
themselves for the symbolic gesture. The Goddess lowered the blade, level
before the three of them and they watched as it sharpened to a razor edge on
its decent.

Fortunately, it would set things back on a predictable course
toward their full-fledged mating bond.

May our Quaynar Rou be
swift and
uncomplicated
.
If anything with Wren could ever be predictable or uncomplicated. Caleb smiled
at their mate.

She steeled herself and didn’t flinch as she touched her palm
on the edge of the blade, blood flowing generously from the cut. Then Caleb
quickly sliced his and Ethan followed suit. He wiped their combined blood
across his hand to coat the surface.

He would prepare her as much as he could. “The fledgling
binding you’ve initiated by drawing us into a soul merge has to be sealed. More
psi-energy escapes with every passing moment. Every offering requires an
acceptance to move forward, each is a step in a complicated mating ritual that
dragon shifters go through which will bind our spirits and souls beyond this
existence.”

Ethan shifted his hold on her to reveal access to his chest encouraging
his brother. “I know you’ll find the right words for the sealing, Caleb.”

Caleb wanted to make her understand while he accepted that
she may not.

“For every reaction there is an action forming chains which
become events--which then become our history. Even if it hasn’t happened, we
know it will.”

Until we met you, now destiny is somewhat fickle.
He stifled the
thought.

She had a quick, eager mind that amused him as she tried to
make sense out of what was happening and what he’d told her. She breathed,
“Destiny,” with a shaky exhale.

Caleb smiled at her fierceness. Ethan leaned in to kiss her
neck tenderly beneath her ear, and said. “Yes, it is very likely to be so, all
will be revealed in time.” Yes, now was the time to confirm her choice of mates.
He looked to the Goddess to proceed. She’d become still as a sculpture. She
nodded,
her expression benevolent, like a loving mother.

He reached under Ethan’s shirt, flattening his bloody palm
over his brother’s heart.

Amo
Jaita
omer
,
Gamma, the Anchor from which all are grounded and sustained.”

Energy swirled in the air around them, sparking from the
magic he channeled. The Goddess supplied the spirit symbols that he called to
each of them. The rightness of the moment gave him confidence to
continue.The
magic gripped Ethan and draw him into an arch
against Wren, pulling her close.

Caleb spoke the next lines of the ceremony, “
Jaita’me
,
our Beloved
symbolized by the Delta.
The vessel and center of our
universe, from which all meaning and relevance flows-- the life giver.”

Shaking from the emotional strain, Caleb pulled on life
forces flaring between the three of them for strength. He brought Wren’s bloody
hand to his chest and flattened it over his heart, where her essence belonged.
The magic filled him, embraced him,
ran
through him
completing the cycle.

Ethan supplied the next words in an awed whisper.

Amo
Jaita
omer
, Zeta”.

Caleb opened himself up to the role of Focus as he spoke the
Goddess driven words of the incantation. “I am Zeta, the fountain of unification,
focus and spiritual alignment of the triad. The symbol of air contained within
a sail.” The words and Goddess driven magic connected the three of them forward
from now into a future beyond time’s end.

Thrill zipped across all his senses. He felt Wren’s awestruck
acceptance of the ancient ceremony while mystic energy whirled around her,
tingling across her skin and proving existence of a world beyond the ordinary
boundaries of human credibility.

Nuzzling her neck, Caleb whispered the ritualistic words his
Focus talent gave him against her skin. “As we ever have been, as we ever will
be. We three shall be as one. Hearts bonded, spirits mated, souls entwined for
time and all eternity. As I speak, so may it be.”

Ethan’s words joined his, blending together the acceptance of
the bond wrapping around them.

Wren’s husky voice entwined with theirs. “So may it be.”

The Goddess lifted the blade upright into the air.
The sun’s rays glinting up and down the steel radiating out like a
prism of light blinding them with the glare.
“So it shall be.”

When the light cleared Gelfin was gone. The sword
laid
across the threshold where she’d stood, their combined
marks replaced the solitary delta settling into a pattern Caleb recognized from
Kiernan’s face.

Ethan saw the power
building through their shared psi-union. He noticed that Maxwell was still face
down on the floor. He doubted the little toad had witnessed anything. The
Goddess’ leaving released the temple like hush from the room and the resulting
noise assaulted the senses.

Maxwell jumped to his feet immediately asking questions of no
one in particular. Izzy looked a little dazed yet was trying to answer his
queries. Even Kiernan’s breathing was overly loud.

“Izzy.
See if you can keep Kiernan healing
for a day or so. We’re going to our place.”

Heat flashed from Wren, radiating out.
I have to get out of here, now
. She insisted.

Then get us someplace
private. You are the Dragon Guardian.
Each time she’d interacted with the
Goddess, her power had increased exponentially.

Wren picked up the sword, channeling her energy through it as
a tool. He knew it just as clearly as if he was the one controlling the power.
Sustenance, Unification and Relevance-- s
he
touched the stones at her throat and a temporary portal opened its swirling
surface.

Caleb was encouraging Wren
.
Remember to think of the destination before you leave this one, this time--
one, two,
three
.

They stepped through together and out the other side arriving
in their home beside the hot tub.

You did that amazingly
well.
Ethan teased her. She knew that because she was sharing his thoughts,
along with Caleb.

Yeah, isn’t it
wonderful what a little bit of instruction will do.
She smirked, teasing
him.

Get her feet Caleb.

Ethan grabbed her hands and they swung her as if to throw her
in the pool.

Laughing she shrieked, “Don’t you dare. Don’t you
dare.

So he hefted her into his arms and laughing he and Caleb
stepped off the edge into the depths of the hot spring. She came up sputtering
and splashing. She shucked off her clothes in the water, throwing the sodden
mass up onto the ledge. Her breasts, lifted with buoyancy in all their
exquisite glory.

“That’s fine. That’s just fine. Remember what they say. When
you least expect it…expect it.”

She then revealed just how devious and calculated a woman she
was, in all the best ways. Oh yes she was up to something. He was going to love
trying to keep up with this woman’s sharp wit.

Caleb laughed in his mind.
You started this and I’m going to reap the sweet benefits of finishing
it.

She grabbed the side of the pool, the water around her waist.
Then she pushed up, straightening her arms, lifting herself from the water with
tedious slowness. It receded down her loins and across her ass in a
tantalizing, liquid strip tease. She looked back over her shoulder with a wink
leaning on her hands giving him a perfect squirrel shot of her pussy.

“Come and get me.”

Ethan lifted her from the edge of the tub onto a cushion of
towels. He mounted her and thrust into her from behind, his groan of entrance
and pleasure radiated through her mind. She was herself and yet within him
also, thrusting into welcoming heat. He joined her mind to share her reception
of his long slow glide.

Caleb joined their triad link pulling her across his chest.
He closed his mouth on her clit licking and sucking the moist juices. Where one
entity began and ended faded and they were united. There wasn’t a need for
words, understanding was perfect. More, harder, deeper became thoughts linked
to instant gratification.

Ethan rolled her, his lips meeting hers, his mouth closing on
hers, receiving her exploring tongue, sweeping through her mouth with his.

Caleb entered her swift, deep and pounding just like she
wanted him to. Longer than she thought possible they made love. The men’s
stamina defied what she’d ever expected or experienced before.

Ethan teased her nipple between his fingers.
You’ve never had a bull dragon mate you.

Caleb’s thought joined his
.
We will take you in ways you’ve never thought of in your deepest fantasy.

I have pretty deep
elaborate
fantasies.
Yes she knew.
Other men are a dim shadow compared
.

She rolled with them coming up on top, straddling Ethan as
she started to cum. They touched, stroked and petted in just the right ways,
all the best places, drawing her out into a long screaming orgasm that rolled
on and on through her before they too joined her in throes of shared tri-bonded
ecstasy.

A flood of emotion
welled up in Wren and ricocheted between the three of them. She and her dragon
shifter mates were sealed together preparing for their
Quaynar
Rou.

She’d made the first steps toward an immersed union with both
of them. She wasn’t afraid any more. They’d found each other and together they
would love each other into their shared future-- a future that fulfilled
destiny as she became their Queen and Dragon Guardian.
