Dizzy Dilemmas (34 page)

“Would you like you wedding gift before or after supper?” he asked, rolling off her and sitting up.

“Isn’t the
jewellery my present?” she asked also sitting up.

“That was the public present but I
have another, more personal one,” he told her and from beneath his pillows produced a package that turned out to be a sketch pad.

“I was inspired by Hester’s gift to her husband to produce some sketches of my own. I have always enjoyed drawing and have been told I am pretty good at it.
I thought whilst we are ‘dead’ we could amuse ourselves by trying out some of these.”

“How long do we have to play dead, do you think?” she asked.

“Oh I am hoping two or three days!” he smiled. “Then we will have to host the rest of the party but after I intend for us to go on a long honeymoon so that Mustapha Mummy can have time to get over his disappointment.”

“Not to mention all those matchmakers and their daughters who will be devastated that you are no longer available!” she told him.

Dizzy opened the pad and found pencil drawings of a couple; unmistakably her and Glenmore, in a variety of positions.

She turned the pages and felt herself blush at some of the illustrations and when she glanced up he was smiling wolfishly at her. “That one I have been fantasizing about ever since we hid behind the flowers at the Farleigh’s ball.”

“Then it
is only fair to make your fantasy a reality,” she grinned back. “Supper can wait!”
