Epilogue

Scarlet

And I did.

After six months of trials and a waiting period, Declan Dixon, president of the Sons of Dixon, was sentenced to life without parole. The motorcycle club disbanded and the cops that were a part of their operation got time as well.

Now…life was pretty perfect.

And I had a surprise for Dax.

I walked into the house from my second month as a seventh grade math teacher. I had to make up a lot, but since I had perfect scores and they understood what happened, well, I didn’t have a choice in the matter. I was given the opportunity to finish the course a month after graduation. I graduated magna cum laude.

I now was an official teacher. I no longer worked at Saints and Sinners. Unless my mother-in-law asked me to perform. It was only once a month and even though Dax didn’t really care for it, he didn’t mind. It was really the only time I sang. He was usually right in the front; so no one got any ideas.

As if anyone couldn’t see the big-ass rock I was sporting on my finger. Silly, adorable man.

I set my purse on the foyer table and walked to his office. On the way I slowly took off my shoes, and per his request, I wore those bulky, old-fashioned jumper dresses. Not every day, but I didn’t mind his obsessiveness. It was hot and sexy and I reaped the rewards every time I came home wearing one.

But this time, it would be different. I had a substitute teacher for the second half of the day because of a doctor’s appointment.

Yeah.

He was finally reaping his own rewards. Not that we could replace the one we lost. That was something that broke my heart every time I thought about it. Now, we had nothing in our way. Just each other.

“Pixie? You home?”

“Who else would it be?” I opened the office door and shut it behind me.

His eyes focused right on me and my outfit.

“Feeling frisky today, Scarlet?”

“Hmm…well. That toy you used on me last week was positively frisky. But for today, I’d like to talk to you.”

“Is there something wrong?”

“No.”

I walked over to him and just as I was going to sit up on his desk, he reached down, gathered up my dress to grip my thighs and lifted me himself.

“Want to try a much more fun foreplay tactic?”

“No.”

His eyebrows creased and his smile slowly slipped away.

“What’s wrong, Scarlet?”

His hands were rubbing sensuous circles on my upper thighs and it was like sweet torture. My core tightened and my panties were becoming damp with arousal. He knew just how to touch me. I caressed my hands up his dress shirt and slowly unbuttoned it until all I could see was the span of his chest. I brought my lips over his lean, hard abs and licked up until I teased a nipple with my teeth.

“Fuck, Scarlet.”

His hands squeezed my thighs and spread them further apart. A hand wandered to the apex of my thighs where he rubbed a thumb up and down my slit. I knew he felt the wet spot on my panties and he lightly pressed in and circled his thumb, making me almost forget what I needed to tell me.

I knew he was rock solid in his jeans and I couldn’t wait until I could play.

I was almost two months pregnant and it was like everything on my body was super sensitive. Hyper aware of every touch. I hadn’t had any morning sickness, thank God. But my breasts were really sensitive and I’d gained about ten pounds. Dax didn’t really notice, but he didn’t care about my weight.

“Tell me, Pixie.”

“How about being the king of this castle?”

“What are you talking about? I am king of this castle. You’re my Pixie queen and we’ll have fairy children to fill up all those extra rooms.”

“You really are so adorable.”

“Scarlet, what have I told about calling me adorable? I’m not fucking adorable. I’m a man. I’m sexy and rugged.”

“Hmm…well, you really are going to have to curb your wicked mouth, Dax. Yes, you are sexy. Sexy adorable.”

“Curb my mouth? Woman, I haven’t had a filter for a long damn time, I don’t think I’ll ever get one.”

“What about when the baby comes?”

“What do you mean what about when…the…baby?”

He took a step back and looked over my body. He lingered on my tummy, then shot his eyes back to mine.

He came back to me, picked me up and set me on the floor where he proceeded to lift my dress up and over my head. I wasn’t really showing yet. Although I had been eating donuts like crazy. I looked down to see what he was staring at.

Yes, there was just a little bump. Barely noticeable. He dropped to his knees and rested his cheek against my stomach.

“Scarlet, are you sure?”

He looked back up at me with true and honest…hope.

I reached back and grabbed the ultrasound photo the doctor took from my purse. I held it up and he stood swiftly, taking the picture.

“She’s beautiful.”

“It’s not bigger than a bean. How do you know it’s not going to be a boy?”

“I just know.”

“I don’t know, but since I’m down to my underwear, are you just gonna stand there?”

His eyes looked back to me and he set the photo down on his desk. He kissed me slow and sexy-like. He let go and said, “Nope. I’m gonna make love to my pregnant wife. Who I love above all things. God, Scarlet. I love you.”

“I know.”
