“Rasha is my oldest brother. King Xochis is dead. And Taio
has forgiven you. I’ll explain the rest later.”

JB’s mind whirled. But there was only one thing that
mattered. “No more running and hiding?”

“We’re truly free to do what we please—no more hiding.”

He yelled and picked her up, swinging her around as she
giggled.

“I have put my trust in you to take care of my sister,”
Rasha said when JB finally set her down.

JB grabbed Rasha in a bear hug. He instantly tried to push away,
but JB held tight. “Thank you for all your help.”

Jess laughed and JB turned to her, giving her the same hug.
“And you too for bringing me to Sonis.”

Rasha pulled Jess away. “That’s enough. She is grateful for
your gratitude.”

JB turned back to Saia. “I’m going to spend my life making
you happy.”

She put her hands up to his heart. “I know.”

The club thrummed with the beat of a new song.

“First things first.” He grabbed her hand and led her to the
dance floor.

“What are you doing?” she shouted as they maneuvered past
the dancers.

“Have you never been to a club before?” he asked as he found
an open spot.

She looked around, shaking her head.

“Saia Blake, may I please have this dance?”

A tear dropped from her eye. “Yes, Justin Blake, you may.”

He pulled her close and they danced slowly. He would never
let her go again.

“Um, Justin? Should we dance faster—adjust our rhythm to the
music?”

“No.”

He didn’t care if they looked out of place dancing slowly in
the middle of the fast-moving crowd. All that mattered was that Saia was his.

Epilogue

JB watched as the wind whipped past Saia. With every gust,
her hair swirled around her face, getting into her eyes and mouth.

Saia laughed and tried, to no avail, to move her hair out of
the way.

“We can go back indoors if you want.”

She turned to him and smiled. His heart soared. “I’m fine
out here.”

They were standing on the balcony of their guest suite in
one of the fine homes situated on the town square.

“If you insist on watching the Gysoni’s night-to-day ceremony,
then let me fix your hair.” She didn’t object as he moved behind her and
twisted the heavy locks into a braid that streamed down her back. “You do know
they do this every morning, don’t you?”

She tilted her chin up to the sky and took in a deep breath.
“I know, but it’s amazing just the same.”

On the other side of the field, the Gysoni elders gave
thanks to the sun god by reenacting their version of the story of creation. The
elders used colorful props of puppets, animals and kites.

They had landed on Hagion late at night and had woken to the
sounds of citizens in the square. Each town on the planet was doing the same
reenactment at the same time.

Saia had been unable to contain her excitement over watching
the show.

“Well, as enthused as I am to watch the elders dance and
gyrate, I think I’ll go back to bed and catch the second show tomorrow.”

She pouted. “You will not! You promised we would do
everything I want to do.”

“Saia, honey, that was over a year and thirty planets ago.”

They had only returned to Drazlan to pick up some of her
belongings and to tell her mother goodbye. Saia thought for sure her mother
wouldn’t want to stay there, not with everything that had happened, but her
mother seemed to be thriving. With Olo gone, she had to see to Drazlan’s
operations until Taio, the new king, could take over.

From there, they went to Sonis to thank Ship and Eva, and JB
had begrudgingly thanked Taio for helping them with the Galactic Council.

The next stop had been to Laconia to visit with Sa’Mya and
Kane. Saia took in all the sights Laconia had to offer. And then it was one
planet after another. Taio had given them a comfortable-sized transporter as a
bonding present. He wanted to give them royal guards to accompany them as well,
but he and Saia both declined.

Exploring the galaxies and looking for Tina didn’t required
royal guards.

Taio and Rasha had both filled their credit accounts so they
wouldn’t be without while traveling, but really there had been no need. The
Galactic Council had awarded Saia a lump sum of King Xochis’ credits as payment
for him keeping her apart from Rasha and her real father for so many years.

She pushed out her bottom lip. “But it won’t be the same
without you. This is the first time we’ll get to see the Gysoni perform their
creation story. Tomorrow you can stay in bed. Please, let’s do this together.”

“Baby, you wore me out. I need to regain my strength.”

She pulled his pajama top, making him press against her. “I
plan to continue to wear you out.”

“Ummm, is that a threat?”

She nipped his lip. “That’s a promise, Justin Blake.”
