Cyrus (5 page)

“I just need one more taste,” I said and moved down her body, spreading her legs.

Her eyes went wide again as she watched me, but this time in anticipation.

“Oh, I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this.” Then I lowered my head and darted my tongue out, working that perfect bundle of nerves.

Her entire body tensed as she gasped and clutched at the bedcovers. Small whimpers escaped her lips, filling me with intense satisfaction.

“So good,” I whispered, then covered her with my mouth and sucked hard.

She let out a cry of pleasure, her legs wrapping around me as her muscles spasmed. I held onto her hips, relentlessly kissing her tender flesh as she rode out wave after wave of her orgasm. When she finally came down, I lifted my head and kissed my way back up her body, until I was hovering over her, the tip of my cock pressing gently against her center.

“Claire?”

“Yes,” she breathed, raising her hips just enough that I started to slide into her.

“Protection?”

She bit down hard on her lower lip and groaned. “In the nightstand.”

I pulled out, afraid if I didn’t, I’d lose my mind completely. “Suit me up?”

She reached for the drawer, quickly pulled out a foil packet, and with deft hands, she protected us both. “Now,” she ordered, her eyes swimming in desire.

“Greedy,” I teased.

“That’s right.” Then she used her small hand to guide me back to where I belonged.

Chapter 7
Claire

I
’d never been so worked up in my life. The way Cyrus touched me, his gentle fingers and firm caresses lit me on fire. All I wanted was to feel him inside me, loving me, quenching the all-encompassing need.

A low contented moan escaped my lips when he pushed into me, filling me, stretching me, until finally he buried himself so deep, he was all I knew.

He held still, his eyes searching mine as he brushed a lock of my hair from my face. “Doing okay?”

“More than okay,” I breathed. Then I pumped my hips, rising to take him even deeper.

“You’re so hot,” he said on a growl, claiming my lips as his tongue invaded my mouth with the same rhythm of his thrusts.

I was lost to him, knew nothing but his hard body pressing me into the bed, his fierce kisses, and the long, hard strokes of his lovemaking. Every nerve was alive and demanding more sensation.

“Touch me here,” I demanded, as I placed his large hand back on my breast.

His rough, calloused palm scraped over my sensitive flesh, sending an electric bolt of desire straight to my center. I ground my hips against him and clutched his back, my nails digging into his tanned skin.

“You like that,” he said on a chuckle, pinching my already aroused nipple. Hard.

It was my undoing. Lust shot through me, and I lost all control as I bit down on his shoulder. He reared back, but quickened his pace, pounding into me.

It still wasn’t enough.

With the passion of a wildcat, I hooked one leg around his waist and rolled. He went with it, holding me with one arm as we flipped positions, ending with me straddling him, impaled by his large cock.

He placed his hands on my hips and seared my naked body with his smoldering eyes. I rocked against him, finding a slow and torturous rhythm while he wrapped his lips around my nipple, teasing until I threw my head back and moaned my pleasure.

And when he finally released me, he brought his lips to mine and whispered, “Ride me, Claire.”

The husky tone of his voice, the wild passion shining back at me, and his rough hands moving over me as if he owned every piece of me, tore down the last of my inhibitions, and I did as he ordered.

I rode him hard, taking every inch of him inside me, grinding against him with every movement as I rose and fell above him. Faster, quicker, harder. I clawed at his chest while he dug his fingers into my hips, neither of us able to get enough of the other.

And then I shifted forward just a touch, and his cock found just the right spot. I gasped, my muscles tightening around him and I moved faster, desperate for the release.

“That’s it, Claire. Let go, baby.” He shifted his hand, his thumb sliding over my slick heat, finding that perfect spot once more.

“Oh, God!” I cried as the orgasm ripped through me, his expert hand sending me flying over the edge of ecstasy.

He held perfectly still, letting me take what I needed as I ground into him, riding that perfect wave. And it wasn’t until I finally came down that he caught my lips with his one more time, rolled me over onto my back, and thrust into me with a relentlessness he’d kept tamed before.

It was his turn to be out of control, and I loved it. I rose to meet him with every punishing thrust until suddenly, I was crying out his name and shuddering around him all over again. Only this time, his cries mingled with mine, and we both went over the edge together.

Afterward, I lay with my head on his chest, our legs tangled together while he gently ran his fingers through my long locks. We were both quiet in the silence.

I felt safe and satisfied. Content.

And deep in the back of my mind, I knew that should scare the hell out of me, only it didn’t. Everything about our joining had felt right.

“Cyrus?” I whispered into the darkness.

“Yeah?”

“That was... incredible.” I turned my head and propped my chin on the back of my hand so I could look him in the eye.

He gave me a self-satisfied smile. “Incredible?”

My lips twitched with amusement. “Do you have a better word?”

“Fucking awesome.” He gathered me into his arms and pulled me on top of him so that our lips were less than an inch apart. “And I plan on doing it again.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Oh? You have plans then?”

His hands moved down to cup my ass. “Darlin’, you have no idea. Now shut up and kiss me. I have work to do.”

“Does this mean you’re going to make me come again?” I asked hopefully, a fire already smoldering within me.

“Many, many times,” he whispered in that growly voice of his.

“Thank god,” I said, and happily gave myself over to him.

I
woke three more times during the night, reaching for him. I was insatiable; the desire to feel him against me, inside of me, completely overwhelming. But he rose to the occasion, literally and figuratively, each time making sure to fulfill my needs until I finally fell into a deep, satisfied sleep.

The sun spilled in through the open window, the fresh spring air caressing my bare skin.

“Morning,” Cyrus said and kissed my shoulder.

I opened my eyes and blinked up at him. He was standing beside the bed, his low slung jeans hanging from his hips. Just the sight of him was turning me on again. “Why are you dressed already?”

He chuckled. “I have to work. And judging by the list on your counter, so do you.”

I sat up, pulling the sheet up to cover my bare breasts. “You were downstairs? Does this mean there’s coffee?”

He picked a mug up from my nightstand. “Absolutely. What kind of guy would I be if I didn’t bring my sex goddess coffee in bed?”

Sex goddess
. Heat crawled up my cheeks as I glanced away and took a sip. He’d prepared it just the way I liked it with a touch of sugar and cream.

“No need to be embarrassed, Claire. If I didn’t need to get a shower, I’d be back in that bed making you cry my name one more time. You’re incredible.”

“Shower?” I glanced at the clock. My first appointment wasn’t for another couple of hours. Plenty of time for another round of dirty sex with my gorgeous neighbor. “Mind if I join you?”

His eyes turned almost black with his desire. “You can join me anytime you want to, gorgeous.” Then he jerked his head toward my bathroom. “I’ll get the water running.”

As soon as he disappeared into the bathroom, I kicked the blankets off and grabbed my robe. After gulping down half the coffee, I followed him into the bathroom.

He’d already found a fresh toothbrush and was standing at the sink taking care of business.

My cheeks flushed. “It’s not what you think. The stash of toothbrushes I mean.”

He glanced at me, spit, and then rinsed. “You don’t have a drawer with a half-dozen brand new toothbrushes for overnight guests?”

The flush deepened. “No, I do. It’s just that they’re not necessarily for situations like this. You know, when a man stays over. They’re more for my girlfriends when they crash after drinking too much.”

“Girlfriends, huh?” He pulled me to him, already undoing my robe. “That’s a mental picture that’s not going to go away anytime soon.”

I chuckled and swatted his hands away from my bare waist. “Stop. Get in the shower. I’ll join you in a second.”

He bent his head and ran his tongue over my collar bone. “Will do. But hurry, all right? All that talk of your girlfriends sharing your bed has gotten me worked up.” He dropped his jeans, revealing his bulging erection.

“I never said anything about my bed,” I whispered, and swallowed a groan of desire as my lady parts started to pulse.

He ran his hand down my side, sending tingles everywhere. Then he turned, giving me a perfect view of his tight ass as he stepped into the shower stall.

I stood there, licking my lips for a second. Damn, he was fucking sexy. How in the world had I ended up with him in my bed again? I shook my head, not caring in the least.

“Claire?” he asked. “Care to join me anytime soon?”

“Yeah. One sec.” I hastily brushed my teeth and wiped away the traces of mascara smudges beneath my eyes. Glancing in the mirror, I gave myself a mental thumbs-up. How could I not? I was positively glowing after the night we’d shared. Then I opened the shower door and stepped in.

Cyrus was turned toward the spray, washing his face as I slid my arms around him from behind. “Morning.”

He glanced over his shoulder at me. “It’s a very good morning.”

“It’s about to get better.” I slid my hand down his stomach and took his cock in my hand, loving the way his breath caught at my touch.

“Much, much better,” he said and whirled around, pinning me against the tiles. Raising my arms up, he clasped one hand over my wrists and leaned in, holding me there. “I have a feeling this hunger is new for you.”

My breathing became ragged with anticipation. “It’s you. There’s something undeniable that makes me crave you.”

He kissed me then, fast and hard and demanding. When he broke away, he said, “It’s the fever.”

Every bear experienced the fever at some point in their lives. Often it was triggered by age, or a biological clock starting to tick. But it could have everything to do with meeting someone’s mate. I shook my head. “No. I don’t think so.”

Cyrus used his other hand to caress my breast, making the nipple go instantly hard with just the brush of his palm. “I do. You can deny it all you want, but I know better. You were made for me, and before too long, I’m going to claim you as mine.”

His words should have sent me running, but standing there naked with his hands on me, there was no way I was going anywhere. I wanted him. More than I’d ever wanted anyone. And the hunger wasn’t going away.

“Understand?” he asked.

I nodded, understanding all too well. All of my promises to myself that I’d end up with someone boring, someone safe, were nothing more than lies. He was right. If he wanted to claim me, I knew there’d be no denying him.

“Say you’re mine,” he said softly as he released my wrists, lifted me up, and positioned himself between my legs. “I want to hear my name on your lips when I enter you again.”

The ache intensified, and my pulse raced with the thought of giving myself over to him.

“Now, Claire.” He pressed himself into my center, moving slowly, with purpose.

He felt so damned good, so perfect that the words tumbled out before I could stop them. “I’m yours, Cyrus. Totally yours.” My legs tightened around him and my eyes closed as I gave myself over to our lovemaking, more than willing to give him every piece of myself, even my very soul if he’d asked for it. There was no turning back. I knew he was right.

He was going to be my mate, and I would be his. And there was nothing either of us could do to stop it.

Chapter 8
Cyrus

J
ust past seven, my phone had started buzzing and woke me up. Claire, the girl who’d only yesterday told me sex was never going to be part of the deal, was sound asleep, her naked body wrapped around me as if she was never going to let go.

Though I’d have happily stayed where I was for at least the next week, the call was from my brother Chase, and I couldn’t ignore him. He’d done me a favor and was on call for Melinda’s case. He wouldn’t be calling unless there was news. Not wanting to wake Claire, I silenced the phone and gently slid out from under her as I got up.

Being as quiet as I could, I grabbed my jeans and pulled them on, deeply regretting leaving her alone in the bed. She was lying on her stomach, the sheet bunched at her waist, exposing the creamy skin of her naked back. Flawless.

My lips ached to kiss every inch of her. But the phone started vibrating again.

Dammit. I took off down the stairs and finally answered. “What?”

“We’ve got a situation over here.” Chase’s tone was all business. “Someone tried to break into Melinda’s house about an hour or so ago. The first two levels of security you installed were breached, and the perp nearly made his way into the house. If she hadn’t had that panic button you’d given her, who knows what would’ve happened.”

“Two levels?” I echoed. Son of a bitch. Melinda Greyson had hired me a week ago when her college friend, Katrina Craig, had shown up after being assaulted by her husband. And because Katrina’s husband would more than likely be looking for her, Melinda had asked me to beef up her security and look into the asshole’s background for anything Katrina might use in the court case.

So far I’d found nothing but bad debts and a couple DUIs. But if the intruder had been him and he’d gotten past two levels of security, he wasn’t dicking around.

“Is everyone okay?” I asked Chase.

“Sure. Melinda hit the panic button and scared off whoever it was, but both women are shaken up. We need to secure the house and do some investigating. When can you get here?”
