Cut to the Chase (26 page)

“You’re in.”

“In?”

“Yes! He was impressed by the play. He thought it was an unusual place for a meeting and commented that it was rather one-sided, but he understood your message. Lord knows, I crapped fifteen pounds because of it.”

Billy was huffing and puffing, too. “We just drove straight from his office. The same agreements and conditions came back on the table and we inked the deal!”

Avalon jumped up. “Are you serious?”

Michele D. put her hand to her chest. “As the heart attack I’m about to have.”

Avalon let out a whoop and Paige jumped up to hug her.

“Money for college!” she said to Paige, who laughed.

Michele D. cocked her head. “What?”

“Nothing.” She hugged Michele and Billy. “This is great news!”

“It sure is! And we’re going back to our offices to get the word out,” Billy said. “Lots of stuff to do. Interviews, news stories, blogs.”

As they walked back to their car, Avalon called out, “Think we should take Paige’s play on the road?”

Without turning around, they both shouted at the same time, “NO!”

“So,” Avalon said when Michele D. and Billy had driven away, “I’ll be heading to Spain eventually, but not before I go with you on your book tour.”

“You want to go?!”

“I sure do. Who else is going to help you perfect RSUA technique?” Avalon said.

“Relax, stop negative talk…ahhh…”

“Use coping statements and acknowledge your feelings. See? You’ve forgotten already.”

“I didn’t, actually. I wanted you to feel needed.”

Avalon hugged her. “I already do.”

Paige sighed. “So, Spain, huh?”

“Is your passport up to date? I’m sure there will be some photo safaris for you to go on.”

“It sure is.”

“Good, because this film is going to be great! It’s a huge blockbuster love story. Top billing.”

“It’s funny how your business works. You killed your costar in the last film and the next one will be a happily-ever-after.”

Avalon draped her arms over Paige’s shoulders. “That’d be a great name for your next book.”

Paige moved closer, wanting to kiss her again and again. “Let’s just keep that one for ourselves.”

Love on Location
is… “An explosive and romantic story set in the world of movies.”—
Diva Direct

“The women of
Run to Me
are multi-dimensional and the running metaphor is well placed throughout this tale. Girolami has given us an entertaining story that makes us think—about relationships, about running away, and about what we want to run to in our lives.”—
Just About Write

Run to Me
is… “An intense romantic story where love seems to be a lethal word.”—
Diva Direct

In
The Pleasure Set
… “Girolami has done a wonderful job portraying the wealthy dilettantes along with the complex characters of Laney and Sandrine. Her villain is a great combination of brains and ruthlessness. Of course, the sex scenes are fabulous. This novel is a great blend of sex, romance, and mystery, and the cover is perfect.”—
Just About Write

“[
Jane Doe
] is one of those quiet books that ends up getting under your skin. The story flowed with the ease of a slow-moving river. All in all a well-written story with an unusual setting, and well worth the read.”—
