He blinked when he realized the car had stopped. They were parked outside the hospital. Cochise started to yank the keys from the ignition when Clint stopped him.

“Leave the keys,” he murmured, his voice empty. “Tell Anthony I’ll be back by noon today.” He slid over into the driver seat and started the car.

“Where are you going?”

Clint gripped the steering wheel and stared at his hands –
and felt soft curls sliding between his fingers
. The weight of the pendant suddenly felt unbearable, dragging the chain against the back of his neck. He blinked away his blurred vision.

“To fix the problem.” He closed the door –and felt the clash of steel bars encasing his heart once more.
