Claiming Sunshine (7 page)

She continues to silently cry, not sure if she should look at him or not. “He has never hit me, he just threatens to, and punches the wall next my head. He just tries to scare me. It's fine,” she says, looking at the floor in front of her, focusing on one of the tiles.

“Oh, my God! What the fuck? You think it’s ok for a man to scare you or threaten to hit you?” he says, keeping his distance from her.

“You are scaring me right now,” she says, looking up at him, tears streaming down her face.

This situation is scaring me. I want it so bad, but I can't lose my kids. They’re my life.”

“This is what's going to happen, Sunshine.” He steps over to her. Taking her chin in his hand and tilting her head up to him. “You are going to get yourself together. We are going to go out and get on my bike and I'm takin' you to my place. You can eat your sandwich and we can hash this shit out.” He took her hand and pulled her up into his arms and just hugged her. “We're gonna figure this all out and it's all going to be fine because you are mine now, babe. Mine.”

“You have a house?”

“Is that all you can say after all of that?” He pushes her away from him a little so he can see her face. “You’re killing me here.” He laughs and bends down and kisses her. “I'm gonna give you a minute to get your shit together and then you, on my bike, understand?”

“Yeah, I'll be right out.”

Her mind is racing. What does he have planned? How is he going to make it ok? How is he going to keep Sam from taking the girls and leaving her? She wiped her eyes, finds her makeup in her purse, and reapplied a few things to make herself presentable.

They pull up to a little home in an older part of town. Typical wood fence, garage in the back, small home. As they walk up the front steps to the door, he tells her that this was his Grandma's place and when she died, she left it to him. It was perfect for him and his daughter Meagan. She was 17 and pretty much doing her own thing, but still checked in with him often. She had big plans for college. A great responsible kid for being brought up by an MC President.

He walks her into the kitchen and offers her a beer or soda. She opts for the soda being a light weight when it came to booze. That's all she needs is to be half lit trying to settle this.

“So, just want to say I'm sorry for scaring you back there. I just need you to know this isn't a game. I will take care of you. I will get you away from that asshole and you will have your girls with you when it happens.” He pulled a couple of cold pieces of pizza from the fridge and sat down across from her at the little kitchen table. “You get me?”

“How?” she asked, taking a nibble off of her sandwich.

“That is for me to worry about. I have a few feelers out there on ol' Sam. Lookin' to dig some dirt on him, but that is my job. Your job is to do what you do best. Be a mom to those girls and be at my side when I need or want you there.” He takes a swig of his beer.

“What about what I want?” she asked quietly, not wanting to rile him again.

“I will give you whatever you want babe. You need to understand, I'm a good guy, but I am not willing to give up on what's mine and from the time I pulled up to that ol' truck of yours and winked at you, I wanted you. It was instant. I can't explain it, it was just there. Then you giving yourself to me like you did, even after I warned you, that was it babe. That sealed it for me. I can't turn it around.” He paused... “What you want Sunshine, you just tell me and I’ll get it for ya.”

“I want us. I want this to be real and I don't want the girls and I to have to go home every night to a man that is just going through the motions. I want a life with you.” She takes a breath and looks at him. He smiles at her. “I'm just afraid, afraid of what he will do.”

“You just let me handle it.” He finished his pizza and takes another swig of his beer. “You just keep going through the motions and I will get you out of there. I want you to have my number on your phone. If he so much as touches a hair on your head, you shoot me a text and I will be right there.”

“I still have it from when I called you about the job, saved it then.”

“Babe,” he smiles. “I will get you out of there as soon as I can.”

They both stand and he pulls her in for a hug. She can smell the leather. He smells so good she wants to stay there in his safe arms forever.

“Meagan is going to be home in a bit, she's doing half days her senior year, so I better get you back to the boys at the garage. I would much rather repeat what we did the other day but I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate walking in and hearing you scream.” He grabs a handful of her hair and tilts her head and takes what is his.

Over the weekend, Drifter gets back to him on Samual Dalton. He is an independent installer for Satellite TV, works a lot and is all over the Portland/Vancouver area. He has one count of domestic violence on his record, but oddly it wasn’t with Nikki. Maybe an ex? Happened 2 years ago, so that doesn't make sense. It was dropped but still showed up on him. Height: 6', Weight: 160. Wow, Scooter thinks to himself... big strong man... might have to rough him up. With Scooters build of 6'3” and 240 pounds of muscle, the poor fucker wouldn't stand a chance. He wanted to pay him a visit so bad but he had some plans to deal with him. It was all coming together.

Sam knocked on the all too familiar door. She opened it. “Geez, you repair men just keep coming to fix my TV,” she says, giggling and letting him slip in the doorway, quickly shutting it behind her.

Drifter sits and watches. Part of him is so curious what they are doing in there and as soon as he gets a chance he, is going to bug the hell out of that house. He will get evidence for Pres, and some for his personal stash. His cock reacts to his thoughts. He sits and waits.

Sam is so relieved to see her again. It had been two weeks and Nikki had a constant headache or belly ache. He needed some relief and she was just the gal to give it to him. As soon as the door was closed, he grabbed her by the hair, directed her to the couch and sat her down. She started undoing his jeans. “Easy there babe, slow down.” She ignored him and before he could react, she was sucking on him for all she was worth. It only took a minute and he unloaded into her mouth. She swallowed it all. God he loved that. Nikki would never do that and if she tried, she'd find a way to fuck it up, like everything else.

“My turn,” she said, standing up and taking his hand to lead him down the hall.

Pulling his hand free from hers, “Not today, I have more installs... just needed a quicky.” He was doing up his jeans and she huffed and walked down the hall slamming the door. Whatever. He left.

Drifter sees him coming out of the house a few minutes later, straightening out his shirt. “Wow, you are quick, fuck face.” He takes a few photos and slowly drives away.

“Here is more on your guy Pres.” Drifter hands him the photos and the address of Sam's fuck friend. “You want me to bug the place? I can get it done in the next few days,” he asks, hoping the pres. will want him to.

“Nah, hold off on that. I have other plans for him.” He takes the photos and puts them in his pocket for later. “I will need you and the boys to help me out. I think I'm gonna get some satellite TV installed soon.”

“No prob, Pres. You just tell me when and where.”

“It's gonna have to be after this next run. It's a quick one so we'll get on it as soon as we get back.” He walks towards his room at the club.

Taking out the photos, he gets a good look at Sam. He's lanky, starting to bald a little, and has a smug smile on his face. Oh, how he wanted to punch that smile off his face. It's taking a ton of will power not to go over to their house and fucking beat his ass for the way he treats Nikki. He decides on a quick drive by. He just can't help himself. He wants to see her, even if it's just a glimpse.

She is standing at the couch, folding laundry, where it is piled high from the week’s worth of clothes and towels. She is watching game shows, mindless, but it keeps her occupied while she folds and piles it all. Sam is in the front yard mowing and she can see him through the window as he goes back and forth.

Something captures her attention away from the trivia that she is trying to answer in her head from the show. That sound... she knew that sound and had become hyper sensitive to it in the previous weeks. It was a low bass, a rumble of a Harley. Was it him? Her heart raced as she went towards the front door to get out on the porch to see.

Was he going to rescue her today? Where are the girls? She looks back into the house and can see them through the dining room slider. They are out in the small back yard tossing a ball back and forth and laughing. Would he do it like this, with no warning? Just show up and take her and the girls? Thoughts are racing, what if this, what if that.  Then she sees him.

He sees Sam in the yard pushing the mower across the grass. Fuck. He wants to stop and lay him out right there. Stupid fuck doesn't have a clue he is about to lose it all. His focus changes as he looks past him and sees her standing on the porch, looking back and forth from him to something back in the house. She has a towel in her hand that she is fidgeting with. God damn she is beautiful. Seeing her was a mistake. He thought it would help, but now, seeing her there with him made him long to claim what was his even more. She smiled at him. He nodded his head at her and accelerated the bike. He had to get out of there, it was too much.

Sam looked up as the noise of the bike out did the mower. It startled him and he let go of the handle, cutting the engine. “Stupid fucking biker scared the shit out of me.” He saw her on the steps. She was still looking towards the man on the bike. “Yo, quit gawking at that stupid biker and get me something to drink.” She disappeared into the house.

Ignoring his drink order she, picked up her cell phone and text him.

Sunshine: What was that all about? I thought maybe that was it, you were coming for us?

Scooter: Nope, just had to get a look at ya, yep, ur still mine, all mine.

Scooter: delete these.

Sunshine: Yep all yours. See you tomorrow.... deleting

Scooter: Nope, see you Weds gotta go on a run babe. Will be thinkin bout ya.

She goes right to deleting the texts as Sam comes in. “What the fuck, Nikki? I said get me some water and you are just standing there with that phone.” He goes to the sink and starts pouring a glass of water. “Who you chattin' with?”

“Just work. Boss wants to know if I ordered some parts for tomorrow.” She goes back to folding clothes, focused on the window this time.

She had a hard time sleeping that night and thank God Sam hadn't tried anything.

All she could think about was how bad she wanted to be with him, and only him. She tossed and turned.

The next couple of days dragged for her but went on without a hitch. Sam had to work late, so dinner wasn't an issue between them and he was too tired to want sex from her. She could barely wait till Wednesday. She had become completely preoccupied with Scooter and everything about him. The way he walked, talked, took what was his.

Wednesday morning. Finally. She rushed the kids to school and couldn't wait to get to work, fully expecting him to be there opening the gates. She pulled up and no Scooter, gates locked. She sat in the truck for about ten minutes before Charlie pulled up behind her in the tow truck. He got out and ambled over to the gate, nodding his head as he went past her. She drove in. Scooter's bike was nowhere.

Well, he hadn't said when. “Hey Charlie, do you know when Scooter is getting back?”

He shrugged his shoulders, “Haven't heard from him.”

She did her best to stay busy, all the while popping her head up from her work every time she heard the rumble of a bike. Each time it was someone else.
