Epilogue

Shannon sighed. Cinders’ order of staying in bed for the day went against her way of thinking. Laying around was just a waste of time. She was perfectly healthy, tired but healthy. Shaking her head she got out of bed and quickly dressed. Cookie needed help unloading the cook wagon.

She opened the door and was surprised to see the house empty, all except for Cinders. He sat at the table, a cup of coffee in his hands. He looked to be figuring out how to fix the world. His glance snapped to her as she walked into the room.

“Good Morning, Cinders. I know you wanted me to stay in bed.”

“I knew you wouldn’t.” He grinned. “I was just thinking. It was a hell of a cattle drive.” He stood and took her hand. He returned to the chair and set her on his lap. “You’re amazing, you know that?”

Shaking her head, she touched her cheek.

“Your scar doesn’t matter to me one bit. It’s you I love, all of you. I was thinking about my original dream for this ranch. It was a dream of posterity, love and a family. I want to have that dream. I want it all. I have a great ranch and a wife I think loves me and I’m hoping for children.”

Her eyes widened as she stared at him. His eyes were so full of love she wanted to weep. “I do love you with every part of me and I’d be proud to have your children.”

He pulled her close and gave her a searing kiss.

“I need to help Cookie…”

“I was hoping we could start on the family.”

“Cinders it’s daylight.”

He stood with her in his arms, carried her into the bedroom and kicked the door closed behind them. “I know it’s daylight. I want to see my beautiful blushing bride.”
