Captive Space (6 page)

Her heart leapt to her throat and lodged there when he began stalking her around the open area at the far side of her bed. She gauged the distance to the door. Of course, she’d have to make it around the bed and run like hell to make it to the retractable portal, but she thought it was doable.

“Do you really want to leave your quarters dressed only in a sheet?”

“A girl’s gotta do what she has to.” Quickly, she moved left then right, hoping to throw him off center.
Now or never.
She hadn’t made it two steps before he picked her up in a big hug. Pushing at his shoulders, she moaned when he slid her down his clothed frame.

Unceremoniously tossed on the mattress, she rolled to her feet on the opposite side from him. She ran for the door. “Ah.” The gasp was ripped from her throat when he trapped her against the door.

He gathered both her hands in one of his. The other lifted the sheet out of the way, and he caressed her butt cheek. “Fight me.” His whisper wafted her hair. Delightful chills shook through her. “I know you have more to give than that. Fight me.”

She managed to pull one hand free from his grip. Trying to jerk the other free, she groaned when he inserted a finger into her soaked core. “Let me go,” she cried. “Let me go.”

Her clit ached for attention when he added another finger and began to pump her pussy with his digits. His thumb stroked her anus.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
She slapped her hand against the door.

“We’ll have to work on your warrior skills, Shar’ia.”

He caught her around her waist when she finally pulled her hand free. With deft moves, he spun her around so she faced him.

“Tell me you love me.”

The order came out of nowhere. She shook her head. “I don’t.”

“You do. I can feel your feminine emotions taking control of your psyche.” He leaned her against the door. His fingers pumped in and out of her cunt. “Tell me you love me.”

“I don’t.” She probably did, but he was the last person she wanted to admit that to. “Oh my,” she whispered when he slid a third finger into her and really gave her pussy a workout. He swirled his thumb over her clit. Pressure, the likes she’d never experienced before, built in her womb. The first contractions of her orgasm began to break down her feminine walls.

“Look at me,” he demanded.

Forcing her eyes to open, their gazes met and locked.

“Oh my.” Her heart pounded, and her pulse rushed in her ears. The music kept time with her body’s reaction to the love play.

“No,” she screamed when he removed his fingers.
If this is a repeat of that first day, I will kill you in your sleep.

He had the unmitigated gall to laugh at her. “You have no idea what you do to me, Shar’ia.”

“What…do I…do to you?” You don’t know what you do to me,
she commented, albeit silently.

“You make me forget my training.”

She took that as a compliment. Easing herself away from him, she struggled to get control of her respirations. He’d done the same thing to her. For years, she’d been on a mission to prove herself to her family. Inside of three days, he’d ripped every notion of being a trafficker from her thoughts. Now all she wanted was to be with him. She didn’t even care if she was viewed as his slave or his wife. As long as he was in her life, that was all that mattered to her.

Behind her, she heard the rustle of clothing. The play was fun, but she really wanted him to ride her hard.

“Your wish is my command.” He picked her up, and before she could say “I surrender,” he lowered her onto his cock.

Filled by his erection, she gritted her teeth when he lifted her up and down his shaft. “Yes.”

“You like this.”

Yes. Yes. Yes.
Wrapping her arms around his shoulders, he picked up the pace. Her clit hit the base of his cock just right. Her body tensed. “Give it to me. Farden frig, I need you to give it to me—
now
.”

He carried her to the bed, and while still intimately attached, he laid her on the covers. Holding her legs apart with his hands gripping her thighs, he began to plunge, deep strokes followed by short ones until she was about to shatter.

“Stop playing with me. Give it to me. I want it now.”

He obliged her. His cock thrust hard into her until she came with a scream.

“Joseferus!”

“I’m here,” he rasped. He kept thrusting into her pussy until he knew she was about to go crazy. “Come for me, my
Tesra.

Her fingernails dug into his shoulder blades. Her second orgasm shot from the top of her head to the tips of her toes.

“Tell me you love me.”

Memories of him holding her during her punishment stroked through her. The way he was tough, stubborn, but always considerate of her feelings drove her vow higher in her throat. Tears stung at the corners of her eyes. “I love you,” she whispered.

“Come into Oblivion with me.”

Trusting him, she slid easily into the darkness. Engulfed in the coldness of the place, she held him close. “I love you!”

“And I you, my
Tesra.

Joseferus stared at the stars. Holding Shar’ia in his arms, he sighed. He couldn’t believe he’d professed his love to her.
Did I lie? No.

His emotions twisted in his gut.

It was the unfinished business he had worn like a cloak of shame around his shoulders since Ahlantra’s death that had him stuck in the past and unable to move forward. What if? What could have been? What should have been? The questions haunted him.

“What has you frowning, Joseferus?” Shar’ia asked.

“I was thinking,” he answered.

“About?”

“My wife, Ahlantra.”

“I beg your pardon?” She tried to pull away, but he held her firmly to his side.

“She’s dead, Shar’ia.” This was the discussion he’d never thought he’d have with another woman. “She died when Navora was destroyed.”

Shar’ia relaxed and laid her head on his shoulder. “I’m sorry. I’m sure she loved you a lot.”

“I hope she did.”

“Do you think, given time, we can have what you shared with her?”

He heard the worry in her voice. “We can have more.” There was no denying that. “When Ahlantra and I married, I had just been promoted to Supreme Commander. I wasn’t on Navora much.”

“So you never really had time for her.”

He’d never looked at it that way. Yes, he’d given Ahlantra time when he could make it, but that was through inter-stellar communication. In his mind, he envisioned her walking away from him; she turned and smiled at him with that look only she possessed. It was an expression of innocence, understanding and unadulterated love. Ahlantra had understood his life was not bound to a planet but amongst the stars. He had always harbored an unorthodox guilt that he couldn’t be with her, especially when the gossips turned her comfortable little world on its head. It killed a part of him over and over to think of her dying alone. “I wanted to be there.”

“I don’t doubt that.” Shar’ia stroked her fingers absently across his chest. “You can’t move forward with me until you let her go.”

“I know.” Imagining Ahlantra the last time he saw her, he pictured her walking away into a golden haze that was the female’s afterlife in their culture. There, she remained. Perfect. Pristine. Innocent to the horrors of the war that followed their planet’s destruction. In a sick, sad way, she’d been saved, and now he had to let Shar’ia save him from pondering his first wife’s death forever.

His breath hitched. He hugged Shar’ia tighter. He grinned.

“How can I help you?”

“You’ve already saved me.”
Yes,
Tesra,
you’ve done everything right.
“You make me forget that life isn’t just rules and regulations. That there is joy after a great tragedy. That life goes on whether or not you wish it to. That’s commendable and has freed my heart.” Though, he’d still mourn the loss of Ahlantra, he could see a bright future for Shar’ia and himself.

“Thank you.”

He smiled. Rolling over so she was beneath him, he kissed her soundly. “No, it is I who should thank you.”

She giggled as he rained kisses across her cheek and licked her earlobe. “You’re welcome.”

Shar’ia met Joseferus on the bridge. “It’s so big.” By comparison to every spaceship she’d ever commandeered, the
Vor Cand
was immense. It was a mighty floating world where the Navorains were slowly rebuilding their culture and keeping their kind alive.

She stared at the huge war galley, the
Vor Marren,
floating in the inky darkness of space. Stunned to find out how technologically advanced the Navorain people were, she gasped when the
Vor Marren
shivered and disappeared.
That’s one hell of a cloaking device.
She could only imagine what her grandfather or father would have given to own such technology.

Those days were behind her. She had a man who loved her and a new life aboard the
Vor Cand.
It would take time for her to adjust to her role as wife, but Joseferus had been by her side, so far educating her as to how to be a warrior’s wife. She doubted he’d let her fall flat on her face.

“I would not, Shar’ia,” he whispered to her.

“Where to?” the navigations officer inquired.

“Lazarus,” Joseferus informed his crew. “It’s time the
Vor Cand
returned to Lazarus Seven.”

Shar’ia nearly flew out of her skin when the crew cheered. “I still have to return the statue, don’t I?” It was a stupid question. Of course she did.

“You won’t be alone, though. I’ll be right by your side. Afterwards, we’ll celebrate our marriage. Would you like that, my
Tesra?

She nodded and melted against his side. “More than anything.” Her heart thudded hard in her chest.
This is right. This is very right.

“Yes, my love, it is right.” He laid a kiss to the top of her head.
