“I have to admit something to you. That ring… it belonged to my wife. If you’re uncomfortable with wearing it, I understand—but I wanted you to know that you’re the first and only woman I’ve ever really loved since she passed away… I wanted to sort of symbolically unite the commitment I made to her with the love I feel for you.”

Regina’s eyes stung with tears. Instead of being uncomfortable, she was amazed at the amount of love that was in the gesture; it wasn’t just any ring—it was the ring that had belonged to someone so special to Bradley that her death had left him unable to care for any other woman until he had met her.

She took it out of the box and held it out to him.

“Well, are you going to put it on me?” she asked him with a smile.

Bradley grinned and did it, leaning in to kiss her.

“Denise was thrilled when I told her that I was going to ask you to be part of the family,” Bradley said, covering Regina’s body with his own. Regina felt the evidence of his intense pleasure at her acceptance and smiled, wrapping her arms around him and thinking to herself as he kissed her even more hungrily than before that she would never, ever let him go again.
