Epilogue

“Here’s to another round of successful meddlin’,” Byron said, holding his tumbler of rum out for a three-man salute.

Harold grinned, and the old deck boards creaked under his weight as he shifted in his rocker to clink glasses with Byron. “And here’s to not getting in trouble for it.”

Feeling a little warm under the collar, despite the cool fall breeze that would soon drive the three poker-playing buddies inside until next year’s Spring Fling, Errol adjusted his shirt and watched the last of the autumn leaves fall to the ground.

“I wouldn’t go so far as to say that,” he said, thinking how he’d nearly gotten into trouble with Adam. Lord, the boy had looked like he was about to throttle him when he found out he’d tweaked the dang psychic reading.

Byron and Harold both laughed out loud and tossed a handful of chips into the center of the table, but Errol threw his cards down, leaned back in his rocking chair and folded his arms across his chest.

Harold furrowed his brow and studied him with cloudy eyes. “You just lost your hand, Errol, so why the hell are you sitting there grinnin’ like the village idiot?”

“Cause Katy and Trent were by earlier,” he announced, bursting at the seams to share the good news with his best friends.

“And?” Byron asked, as he swirled the last of his rum in his tumbler.

“And she’s having my great-grandbaby.” Errol threw back the last of his rum and reached for the bottle to refill their tumblers.

Harold harrumphed. “’Bout time those two spilled the news.”

Byron clicked his tongue and smiled. “We did good with that match.”

“We did good with them all,” Harold added.

“So what do y’all think?” Errol asked. “Any more youngins around these parts in need of our help?”

As the other two men lowered their heads in consideration, Errol thought about the three couples who’d found love at the fall festival thanks to their guidance. A moment later his thoughts drifted to his great nephew, Jon. He couldn’t help but think it was time the good doctor left that damn clinic in Miami and found himself a nice young girl in Whispering Cove. And with all the new babies on their way, there was no denying that Dani could use a bit of help down at the hospital.

Just then a car drove by and the young lady inside gave them all a wave. Errol smiled, his mind racing with ideas, and suddenly he knew exactly who’d give Jon-boy a run for his money and have him rethinking his big city lifestyle.

After refilling their tumblers, Errol slammed the bottle back down on the table.

“So what do ya say? Y’all up for a little more meddlin’?” he asked.

“Depends. What are we putting on the table this time?”

“Maybe we’d better put up for a month’s worth of rum again, seein’ as our bottle is empty,” Errol said.

“Did someone mention an empty bottle?”

At the sound of a female voice, the three men sat up a bit straighter. Errol angled his head and narrowed his eyes to take in the attractive lady climbing his steps. A bottle of rum was under one arm and a tin, which, from the decadent smell, could only be his neighbor’s famous ginger cookies.

“Delilah,” Errol said, jumping to his feet. “What brings you by?”

Blue eyes blinked up at him and he couldn’t help but notice the quickening of his pulse.

“Adam asked me to bring these things by.” She paused to glance at the two men still seated. “But if you’re busy—”

Son of a bitch!

Errol grinned, and realized that for the first time the player was finally getting played. Damn youngins and their meddlin’.

“No worries, Delilah, these two were just leavin’,” he said.

Good at Being Bad:

His warm breath tickled her neck. “I’ve missed you, Ally.”

She opened her mouth to speak, but what could she say. She’d missed him too.

As lust overrode common sense and desire sang through her veins, she found herself melting into him.

His warm hand slid under her blouse and brushed over her stomach. His touch sent shock waves through her and unleashed her need. As she took pleasure in the feel of his strong hands on her body, and felt his hard arousal press against her back, some small coherent part of her brain warned that she was crossing a line, one that might not be so easy to come back from and would undoubtedly result in heartache.

Allison gulped. “We shouldn’t be doing this.”

Carter spun her to face him. He wet his mouth as dark eyes full of passion searched her face. “Do you want me to stop?”

Her womb clenched as moisture pooled between her legs. “Yes. No. I don’t know.”

Carter brushed the soft pad of his thumb over her lips. “That bad feeling again?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay, tell you what, sweetheart. Let’s not overthink this. Instead, let’s just do what feels good.”

She opened her mouth, but her words of protest were lost on a moan when his lips crashed down on hers. Warm need pulsed through her blood as he kissed her long and hard until her body throbbed with pent-up passion. When he deepened the kiss and she tasted the beer on his tongue, she knew she was utterly trumped.

God, it’s been too long since I’ve been kissed like this.

He abandoned her mouth and pressed his lips to that sensitive area on her neck as he pushed a knee between her legs to widen them. His lips felt like fire on her skin, and there was nothing she could do to stop herself from grinding her pussy against his hard thigh. Pleasure coursed through her, hot and heavy in her veins. She couldn’t deny that she wanted this, wanted him so much she ached. Her hands raced over him with aroused eagerness, tugging at his T-shirt.

God, I need…

When she whimpered, Carter looked at her. His voice was so intimate, so soft and full of emotions when he asked, “Did that feel good, Ally?”

She gave a slow nod, her breath labored, unsteady. With that, Carter tore off his shirt and pulled her close. She ran her hands over his hard back muscles, reacquainting herself with his strong, athletic body. His fingers found the buttons on her blouse, and he opened them one by one, until her hard nipples were exposed through her lace bra.

A low sound crawled out of his throat as he brushed his thumb over one distended bud. “How about this, sweetheart? Does this feel good?”

Instead of answering she let her lids fall shut, her body basking in the erotic sensations rolling through her.

Allison ran her tongue over her kiss-swollen lips as want burned a lazy path through her body. Carter pulled her bra cup to the side and lowered his mouth to her breast. That first, sweet flick of his tongue over her sensitive nipple had her arching into him and moaning in sensual bliss.

“Oh God, yes,” she cried out, and that seemed to be all the encouragement Carter needed.

He quickly removed her sweater, blouse and bra, leaving her standing there in nothing but her jeans. He took a long moment to look at her near nakedness, the heat in his eyes intensifying and warming her all over.

He stepped close, lightly caressing her arms as he dipped his head, his hair brushing her cheek. “You’re beautiful, Ally.”

Her gaze slid over him, need pumping through her veins. “So are you.”

He packaged her in his strong arms, and she could feel his cock press into her stomach. His eyes were dark, his gaze tormented. “Tell me you want this.”

As his primal essence completely overwhelmed her, she struggled to think, to rationalize. But her brain didn’t want to work, and her body only wanted to feel. In that instant she made the quick decision that tonight was too perfect to pass up. The combination of the full moon, the sand and surf, not to mention the half-naked man before her was more than she could take. She’d gift herself with this night in Carter’s arms, then tomorrow…well, tomorrow she’d get her head on straight and her life back on track.

But tonight…oh, tonight…

He’ll put her on display, if that’s what it takes to keep her…

Flaunt It

© 2011 Natasha Moore

When it comes to sexy and sassy, Piper, the most popular waitress at Ben’s bar, has it all going on. Now that they’re dating, though, Ben wishes she’d dial down the skimpy clothes and flirty attitude, and her habit of dancing around the bar and flashing to her favorite song. Every teasing peek at her body, every laugh at some customer’s lousy joke, is certainly good for business—but it sends his jealousy meter into the red zone.

They’re dating, sure, but he’s no muscled, tattooed stud with diamonds in his ears. How can he compete, especially when she refuses to even spend the night at his place?

Desperate, Ben books a room at his friend Paolo’s fantasy club, hoping an erotic night in front of a two-way mirror will get her exhibitionist streak out of her system. Praying it won’t prove his greatest fears—that she lives only to show off. And he’s not that special to her at all…

Flaunt It:

The sky was beginning to cloud up by the time Ben got to Piper’s place. She lived in a sprawling first-floor apartment in an old brick Victorian house. As he climbed the stairs to the door she’d painted bright yellow, he could hear loud music blasting through the open upstairs windows. Was that banjo picking? Her doorbell played “I Love Rock and Roll”.

When she opened her apartment door to let him in, he said, “Do you want me to say something to the guy upstairs about the music?”
Just don’t tell me he’s six foot five and built like a linebacker.

“No, it’s okay. We’re going out anyway.” She kissed his cheek as he walked through the door into the long hallway painted the same color as the door. “But thanks for the offer.”

Ben finally got a chance to really look at Piper when they reached the large living room with the high ceilings and the bow window. His breath left his lungs as he stared at her. Soft had never been a word he’d use to describe Piper. She was bold, brash, sexy, even a little bit wild. But tonight for some reason, she’d softened her edge.

Her short platinum blonde hair was smooth around her face with a gentle flip at the ends. The pink streak was barely visible. Her makeup seemed softer too, although he couldn’t really say how.

“Wow. That dress.” He swallowed. “You look great.” It was a piece of silky silver sin, held up by skinny straps and skimming her body in all the right places. He couldn’t wait to get it off her. “And look at those shoes.” No sneakers tonight. She wore sparkly silver sandals with heels higher than he’d ever seen her wear before. “Very nice.”

Her eyes lit up at the compliments. Hmm, maybe he didn’t say those pretty words often enough. She stepped up to him and smoothed the front of his black button-down shirt.

“Mmm. You clean up well too.” She kissed him then, her lips hot and wet, her mouth hungry as she nibbled on his lower lip. She rubbed up against his body with a promise of what was to come.

He pulled away long enough to stare into her blue eyes and gasp for breath. “Thanks.” He captured her lips once more and she made those sounds in the back of her throat that always drove him crazy. Everything in him wanted to lay her down and take her. Right here. Right now. He eyed her carefully. “How are you doing? Still up for this tonight?”

“Yeah, I’m good. I got my second wind in the shower.” Her eyes were bright again. So was her smile.

“In the shower? You had to mention the shower?” Piper wet. Naked. Ben was even harder than he had been a moment ago. “The thought of you all soapy and slippery is driving me crazy.” He groaned and rubbed his face against her silky hair. “God, you smell good.” He pressed his aching cock into her hip. “You feel good too, Piper. Too good.”
