“We don’t have a clear direction for any of them,” Kevon admitted. “Hopefully the Myrnar will be able to help us more.”
“It will be good to see the boy again. Even the witch.”
Looking forward to returning to the Glimmering Isle is my new idea of getting back to normal,
Kevon stood up, and started back down the stairs, memories of the last two weeks running through his mind again. Getting the attention of the Riders with flashes of Light magic, burying Pholos and the others as they recovered the dead from the sea. Waiting helplessly while the others trekked back down to the coast.
I’ll find you, Alma. I promise. Martin and the others will not get away with this. There is no realm they can flee to that we will not follow.
Kevon’s resolve welled up through his growing exhaustion. He pushed through the doorway and stumbled down the stairs and hallway to his shared cabin.
Rejoining Bertus and Mirsa, gaining the Griffinsworn as allies. We’re headed in the right direction, at least.
Kevon’s scabbard clunked into the cabin door as he reached for the latch. He fumbled with the handle for a moment, and it opened of its own accord.
Definitely the right direction,
he thought, and Alanna caught him as he staggered into the darkness.
About the Author
Chris currently lives and works in western Idaho. He writes full(ish) time, and consults with other local authors and businesses on the side. When not working, he spends time with his wife and two daughters, and his group of table-top and card-gamer friends. He enjoys hunting and fishing, collecting swords and armor, and striving to improve his barbeque techniques. He regularly volunteers with the Micron Foundation, helping with the Science Bowl at both the Middle and High School levels. He donates to school and public libraries, enabling book purchases and special programs that support other artists. Chris has recently begun sponsoring local youth sports teams, and hopes to expand on that in the future. Other than that, he’s kind of a jerk.
Influenced heavily in his youth by the works of Jack London, Lloyd Alexander, Stephen R. Donaldson, Isaac Asimov, and Louis L’Amour, Chris still consumes above average amounts of Science Fiction and Fantasy. His favorite author is currently (and for the foreseeable future) Jim Butcher.
