AN OUTLAW MONSTER (A Back Down Devil MC Romance Novel) (8 page)

eleven.

(trent)

The second the water turned on, my
cock thickened. I had my beer in my hand and stood at the end of the hallway,
staring at the door. I didn

t
need to look down to see the bulge slithering down my leg, I could fucking feel
it.

This woman was driving me mad
already. There weren

t
many that did that kind of shit to me and for Harlee, there was no good reason.
I hated to admit I actually felt bad for her because that meant I actually felt
something. My job was to be the muscle of the MC. The brains were for the
President, the VP, and a guy like Cade. I was supposed to break noses, necks,
and if you had a slit between your legs, I

d
break your goddamn heart.

Something inside me said Harlee
needed to be alive.

Fine. Stay alive for another
night and day.

I finished off the beer and walked
to the kitchen for another one. I looked out the window and saw two prospects
sitting behind my motorcycle. They were on an all night protection run for me.
There were probably two more circling the neighborhood, engines revving, making
sure their thunder was heard. Like the warning roar of a lion, needing to keep
enemies away.

I twisted the top off a fresh beer
and went to the bedroom. There was obviously only one bed there. And there were
two people. Man. Woman. The equation fucking solves itself, right? It usually
solved it in my situation. You came into my bed and you were getting fucked six
ways from Sunday. If I was tired, you could sleep until morning. Most of the
time, you were tossed on your ass to find a ride home.

I couldn

t do any of that with Harlee though.

I took off my leather cut and
tossed it to my dresser. I kicked off my black boots and let out a breath of relief.
One thing I learned running in this life was that you had to find ways to
chill. For a minute. An hour. A few hours. That

s
why we loved whiskey and pussy. They were easy drugs and worth the addiction.

As I stood there, thinking, I heard
a knock.

The bedroom door was open though.

Glancing over my shoulder, I
watched the bathroom door slowly open. I saw half of Harlee

s face, her dark eyes and
wet hair.

My cock pulsed even more.

Trent?

Yeah,
darling?

I said.

There

s no towel in here.

I saw her cheeks flush a little.

I saw curved outline of her
shoulder.

Open
that door and walk right out and get one,

I said with a grin.

She shut the door.

The truth was that if I wanted to
see her naked that bad, nothing could stop me. Hell, the monster wouldn

t have stopped no matter
what.

I went to the hallway closet and
grabbed a fresh towel. It was pathetic to think but as I stared at the towel I
realized it was going to feel every inch of Harlee

s wet body. Long before my tongue would get
its chance.

I grabbed the doorknob and turned
it. I opened the door just a sliver.

I
have a towel for you, darling.

She appeared again and opened the
door just enough to slide the towel through. It was more than she had opened it
the first time which meant I saw even more. A bare leg, the roundness of her
hip, even a quick glimpse of the side of her breast.

The door shut again and I made a
fist and put it to the door.

I can

t get too close

I can

t have it happen
again

**

She opened the door wearing nothing
but a towel.

Are you trying to fucking kill
me?

I
hate to ask,

she
said,

but do you
have a bandage or something for my knee?

I looked down and saw the gash on
her knee. It was nasty, fresh with blood, but it wasn

t dripping.

What
happened?

You,

she said.

Me?

When
you were running with me. I looked back and those guys had machine guns. I
tripped and hit the ground. You kept going.

Sorry
for saving your life.

I
didn

t say anything,

she said.

Come
here and sit down.

She sat on the edge of bathtub. I
grabbed a bandage and turned to face her, on one knee. There was just a fucking
piece of cloth keeping my eyes from devouring her entire body.

I touched the back of her leg and
lifted.

Does it
hurt?

Stings,

she said.

I focused on the gash.

It doesn

t look that deep. You

ll be fine.

The towel was riding up her legs,
inches from showing me her slit. I swore if I inhaled a deep enough breath I
would smell her. That sweet scent, like honey.

I patched up her knee and started
to stand, turning to try and hide my hard cock, but Harlee grabbed my hand.

Thanks,
Trent. For this. For trusting me. I

ll
do anything, okay? I really can

t
stand those guys over there.

I nodded.

Just take it one day at a time right now.
Trev was right. You have no idea what you stepped into here.

I broke my hand away from
hers.

You can have
the bed. I

ll be on
the couch. I

ll make
sure nothing happens. Get some sleep, darling.

That was the last bit of
conversation for the night between myself and Harlee.

An hour later, I had killed off
another three beers. I sat on the edge of the couch, my gun on the table, empty
beer bottles next to it, and my dick still aching. I then did something I hadn

t done in a long time.

I took care of myself

twelve.

(harlee)

I told Trent everything I knew
about Night Soul. The conversations, people they hurt, women they slept with,
any guns I saw, and anything that I could possibly think of. I never thought
being in their clubhouse would actually come back to help me. The more I spoke,
the more it seemed to ease the tension with my pretense and Back Down Devil MC.

The biggest problem was the tension
between me and Trent.

Trev wanted us to stay in his
apartment until he gave orders otherwise. The place started to feel like it was
a paper bag because we always seemed to be on top of each other. Each time I
saw him, my body felt woozy and warm. I knew he couldn

t have been comfortable sleeping on the
couch. A few times I snuck out of the room and crept down the hallway to find
him sitting on the couch, gun on his lap. One time he was standing at the
window, gun in his hand.

He was full on protecting me. Not
just saying it.

When I showered, I thought of Trent
with me. It was so dumb because getting too close to him was too risky for both
of us. Yet just being near him kept the temptation growing and growing. Like
the one thing I couldn

t
have and I wanted it more than anything in the world. Plus, I was a woman. I
had needs. I had wants. Trent

s
eyes unlocked fantasies that were in the back of my mind. Now there in the
front of my mind and I was desperate for him to do something.

I had witnessed the monster a
couple times that first week with him. The way he fought, defended his club

s honor, not to mention
his sheer size and muscular strength was just so impressive. Another MC came
for a drinking party and they all started to bet on fights. They were all
friends yet they all fought each other. Trent got into a man made circle and
knocked a guy out with four punches. Violence never turned me on before

but Trent being
violent did.

I woke up one morning and sat up in
his bed. The smell of his musky, tough guy scent was gone and replaced by my
shampoo. I wore nothing but a long t-shirt, not even a bra.

It felt wrong to admit how well I
had been sleeping. If I was being held captive and was going to end up dead, at
least my days leading up to it were comfortable.

The door opened and in came Trent.
He was in his leather cut, as big and strong as ever.

Morning, darling.

Trent.

I hated that he called me
darling
all the time. He probably called everyone that but when he did it to me it
did wild stuff inside me.

I
can

t believe I

m saying this to a woman,

he said,

but I need you to put on
some pants.

I smirked.

Why?

Trev
is here. Meeting time.

He then shut the door.

That didn

t make me feel any better at all.

I scrambled out of the bed,
instantly sobering up from my drunk feelings of wanting Trent to take me right
in his bed.

I got dressed and went to the
kitchen to find Trent standing with a coffee mug in his hand. Trev sat at the
table, his massive hand wrapped around a coffee mug.

Behind him, at the door, was Cash.
I learned fast that he was wild and really gross

but in some strange way, sweet.

Hey,
beautiful,

Cash said
and winked.

Cash,

Trent said.

What?
Isn

t she beautiful?

Trent looked at me. He didn

t reply.

Sit
down,

Trev said.

Want some coffee?

Yeah,

I said.

Trent poured me coffee and then
finished it up just how I liked it. It made me blush. I couldn

t remember the last time
someone made me coffee. And he made it perfect. That meant he was watching me,
right?

I sipped the coffee and stared at
Trev.

You

ve been honest so far,

Trev said.

But now the club has
reached out to us. They must have tucked their tails and hidden but now they

re pissed.

Okay,

I said.

I
want to know about any conversations that had to do with guns,

Trev said.

I
told Trent everything. They said you owed them guns.

I

m going to show you some
pictures, okay?

Sure.

Does
this guy look familiar?

I stared at the picture of a guy in
a tweed flat cap. He wasn

t
looking at the camera, telling me he didn

t
know his picture had been taken.

No,

I said.

Are
you sure?

Trev
asked.

Positive.

Anyone
ever come to the clubhouse with an Irish accent?

Not
that I could remember,

I said.

I wasn

t in the clubhouse long.

I glanced at Trent.

I never meant to end up
inside there. When the outside work stopped, I helped at the bar for some cash
tips, you know?

And
your outside job was what?

Please
say sucking dick,

Cash chimed in.

I
have a pocket full of money, beautiful.

I

m going to pour hot coffee
down your throat to get you to shut up,

Trent said.

His nostrils flared.

I fought back the urge to grin. It
was so sexy and almost cute that Trent got worked up when Cash said things
about me or to me.

My
outside job was to attend different events for the club, okay?

I said.

There were a handful of
us. Dress up skimpy and flirt. Serve drinks. Go to the card games. Sometimes a
fight here and there. Just stuff like that. I was a waitress and Gunner asked
me if I liked my job. I was trying to save up to get out of this state and I
got stuck here. I never hurt anyone that didn

t
deserve it. I never killed anyone. Things got violent and I was in a corner
when they said I had to kill Duke.

The emotion instantly crept up on
me. It made my stomach sick to think that I had come so close to actually
killing another human.

I blinked back tears and took a
deep breath.

That

s enough,

Trent said.

Keep going, Prez.

Okay,

Trev said.

He showed me another picture. It
was a really rough looking guy. Really scary eyes. Eyes I had seen before.

I nodded.

Yes.

Son
of a bitch,

Trent
said.

You

re sure?

Trev asked.

Positive.
He was there all the time.

All
the time?

Cash
asked. His face dropped.

What
does that mean?

He
and Rocco would talk all the time. Go into the meeting room. They

d laugh, have a beer, I
don

t know.

You
served this guy drinks?

Trev asked.

Yeah.

He
paid?

Not
him.

Who
paid?

Trent asked.
He walked to the table and touched my shoulder.

It

s okay, darling, you

re doing great.

That
man took money from Rocco. Lots of it. He drank for free and took money. Then
he

d leave. The last
time he was there, after he was gone, Rocco and Gunner had a shot together.
They were really happy. Excited.

Trev looked at Trent.

That

s
when Trent crouched down.

Darling,
this is really helpful to us. But you need to do something else.

What?

We
need you to call Daxton and act like you

re
captive and hurt. We need to lure them closer and attack. We need to use you to
do that.

I stared down at my coffee. The
last week had been so peaceful. Now it was going to be nothing but hell.

We

re at war,

Trev said.

There

s no other way to put it.
Things were said and promised that were lies. Now we have to fix it. You owe
this to us, Harlee. To this club and to Duke.

He took out a cellphone and slid it
across the table.

Make
the call,

Trev said.

I reached for the phone. The second
I lifted it, Trev stood up. He flipped the table over and took out his gun.
Trent grabbed my wrists with one strong hand and took the phone out of my other
hand.

Sorry,
darling,

he
whispered.

Trev pointed the gun at me.

Now let

s make that call
…”

**

Where
the fuck are you, bitch?

Daxton growled into the phone.

I was shaking as the gun touched my
forehead.

They
have a gun to me,

I
said.

I

m held in a chair, Daxton.

What?

he asked.

What the fuck
…”

Back
Down Devil,

I said.

They got me. They took me.
Okay? Everything went bad at that game. I tried

but they were there.

Holy
shit!

Daxton yelled.

Trent held the phone to my ear.

I heard Daxton running and calling
for Rocco.

A door opened, shut, and then there
was another thud.

Put
it on speaker,

Trev
whispered to Trent.

He did.

Harlee,

Rocco

s voice said.

Give me your location.

A
room,

I said.

I

m in a chair. There

s two of them. They have a gun to my head.

Who
the fuck is there?

Rocco yelled.

Fuck
yourself,

Trev said.

You want to take out
our men? We

ll cut
you from the ground up.

Trev?

Rocco asked.

You think stealing some
bar whore is going to rattle me?

Let
her the fuck go,

Daxton said.

She

s my bitch.

Not
anymore,

Trent said.

I

ve been tearing up that
tight slit all week long, brother. What are you packing over there? A pencil in
your pants?

I

ll fucking kill them all,

Daxton yelled.

I swear on my life
…”

There was more noise and a
struggle.

It sounded like someone was
dragging Daxton out of the room.

Trev nodded.

He then jammed the gun to my
forehead.

OW
!

I yelled.

Shit.

Whoa,
whoa,

Rocco said.

What

s the play here?

The
play?

Trev said.

You

ve been doing a lot of talking over there,
Rocco. Right in front of this bitch. She

s
said quite a bit. I know about your little target chart in the room. You want
to come for us? Come right into town and face me man to fucking man.
