Alcandian Soul (16 page)

“Greer, just what did I show you?”

He turned and his gaze moved over her, taking in her binding robes. When his eyes met hers once more, that determination was burning away.

“That in the end, even abduction can be forgiven. I have considered traveling to Earth for many seasons now in pursuit of a mate. You stand here as an example of the reward that is possible if I am willing to suffer the adjustment period.”

“Indeed, she does that well.” Greer’s partner Osher surveyed her with his green stare before offering her a cocky grin. “I hope you will befriend our intended mate once we return from Earth. She will enjoy a human companion in her new home.”

“Whoa, boys. I am not a part of anything that’s making you two think that abducting human women is a good way to meet binding mates.”

“Yet you stand here content and bound by your own free will.” Osher wasn’t happy about her denial. The warrior stepped closer. “Do you deny that love fills your heart or that you were abducted?”

Oh crap! Just what she needed on her conscience.

“Kidnapping does not grow love.” Just because she was in love with her two mates didn’t mean she needed to be held as an example of the way to go about meeting Earth women. Greer lost his frown and nodded soothingly at her.

“You need not worry,
darmasha
, we would never handle any female that our minds could not link with.”

Which meant the warrior had no problem hauling a screaming captive back through the wormhole, as long as he believed he had touched her mind.

“Just wait, you can’t go kidnapping women.”

Both warriors folded their arms across their chest and frowned at her. Osher shook his head and glared at her.

“There is nothing more to discuss. We are Alcandian warriors and it is time for us to begin the hunt for a mate. It will be our most sacred mission to ensure that she is as content as you now find yourself.”

Greer nodded agreement. “You cannot deny that you were brought to Alcandar against your will at the time. The evidence is clear. Please do not worry about our future mate. We will treat her with the highest respect. But we will find her.”

The two warriors nodded stiffly to her before they turned simultaneously and moved across the hall. Her stomach felt sick for a moment as she bit into her lower lip. How in the hell had she managed to screw up a total stranger’s life?

“It’s not your fault.” Zeva offered her a small shake her head. “Warriors rarely see beyond what they want. But even on Earth, your Special Operations males have deep urges to seek out a mate. It is encoded in our genes.”

“Yeah, well, it still stinks.” Cassandra sounded grouchy and she was. Being in love with Cole and Dyne didn’t change the fact that she thought their kidnapping her was really low. Zeva flashed her a grin.

“I believe that is the definition of warrior. Is it not?”

Cassandra let her eyes drift to the two warriors still shaking the hands of their fellow Judgment Officials. Both of her mates felt her frustration and made excuses. They were striding towards her as their guests parted like a herd making way for a pair of lions.

“Your buddy Greer seems to think I’m a poster child for heading out to Earth and capturing himself a mate.”

Dyne wasn’t alarmed at all. “It is how we found you.”

Cole laughed. “You hate being wrong, don’t you, honey?”

Cassandra kicked her newly bound mate. Cole smiled at her as his shin ached. He leaned forward and her nipples contracted as his scent filled her senses. “Still hungry for just dinner?”

He held out his hand and Dyne mirrored the gesture. Sensation flowed down her body to her clit as the idea of sitting at the three places reserved for them became very uninteresting compared to the invitation to join them upstairs.

“Now that you mention it, no.”

She placed her hands into theirs and ran to keep up with their long strides as they left the hall. A round of laughter followed them and Cassandra didn’t care.

Love wasn’t something you put on hold.

About the Author

I write to reassure myself that reality really is survivable. Between traffic jams and children’s sporting schedules, there is romance lurking for anyone with the imagination to find it.

I spend my days making corsets and petticoats as a historical costumer. If you send me an invitation marked formal dress, you’d better give a date or I just might show up wearing my bustle.

I love to read a good romance and with the completion of my first novel, I’ve discovered I am addicted to writing these stories as well.

Dream big or you might never get beyond your front yard.
