“I don't even know how people think up such things,” Katherine admitted to Garrett the next morning.  They had spent very little of the night actually sleeping, yet somehow she felt rested and relaxed as she dressed the next morning.  “I guess men must really have quite wicked minds to come up with so many different ways of essentially doing one thing.”

Garrett had been amazed at Katherine's willingness to try anything that he suggested and loved how she reached out to find him over and over again throughout the night.  Though she would never admit it, she had been insatiable last night and he had loved every minute.  Tapping into the bold almost uninhibited side of her reminded Garrett of why he had first fallen in love with her.  She was a unique mix of trust, bold instincts, and love.

Trying to make her blush Garrett told her exactly where some of those ideas had come from.  “In some countries there are entire books filled with different sexual ideas,” he admitted and relished seeing her eyes widen and her mouth fall open slightly.

“I've never encountered any books quite like that,” she assured him primly.

“I think that some of the more creative ideas come from putting young boys at a school desk for hou
rs on end with nothing better
for them to think about except women.  Others I would say are impulse and desire, working to better find each other's needs.  And a few come from nature.”

Puzzled at the thought Katherine turned around before powdering her nose.  “What do you mean nature?”

Smiling wickedly Garrett asked her, “On all of the walks that you've taken, have you never seen two animals in the wild having sex?”

Blushing brightly Katherine turned her gaze away.  “Even if I had, I wouldn't have stood there watching for pointers,” she assured him.

“You've never seen two dogs mate?”

“Well yes, but it's odd looking, the male goes behind the female and...”  Katherine trailed off quickly before turning to stare at Garrett's unapologetic face.  “Is that where you got the idea for that last one?”

“Well, you liked it didn't you?” he asked as he came to stand behind her and rub at her shoulders.

“Well yes, but that's not the point.”  Kissing her thoroughly Garrett tried to wait long enough that he was sure that she'd forgotten why she was mad at him.  Pulling away he found her lips darkly tinted and swollen, her eyes deep and sultry as she stared up at him.  Leaving one last kiss on her nose he decided that he had done a good enough job of diverting her mind.

“I don't know why you insisted on dressing today,” he told her after nuzzling her ear with his lips.  “It's expected that we should stay in bed all day today, to make sure that I have thoroughly debauched you.”  Katherine tried to shrug him off as she continued to prepare for the day.  “Besides our parents are demanding grandchildren soon, so not even they will raise an eyebrow at us not being around for an early breakfast.”

Waving him away Katherine stood up from the vanity and made sure that her hair was done just right and the curls were coiled upon her head.  “I know that you've already done a decent job of starting us on the way to children,” she told him.  With a somber face she added, “Besides I need to see if there is any way that I can help Robin now.  That stranger she met seems to have changed her and I'm worried that she still isn't telling me everything and I don't think she realizes how upset Victor will be when she breaks the engagement.”

“You don't think he'd harm her do you?” Garrett asked with a bit of concern and protection lacing his voice.

Katherine considered what she knew about Victor's past and the obsession that he had shown towards her sister.  In business he was a man known for taking anything he wanted, without worrying about the consequences.  “I don't think so,” she hoped rather than believed.

A loud knocking sounded at their door and Garrett walked over to answer it.  Winnie looked distraught and somewhat out of breath as she entered the room.  “It's Robin,” she heaved between deep breaths.  “She went for a walk in the gardens late last night but she never came home.”

“Are you sure?”

Winnie nodded her head as she held out the bouquet of wildflowers that had been tucked into Robin's hair the day before.  “I found this at the end of the trail by the old farming road along the back of the property.  There were fresh carriage tracks as well.”

Garrett cast a worried glance at Katherine before squeezing her hand to offer some comfort.  “No one uses that road anymore,” he explained.  “Could she have left on her own?  A secret rendezvous?”

“No,” Winnie shook her head.  “She told me that she needed to talk to us tomorrow.  I don't think that she ran away.”

Katherine shook her head.  “No she wouldn't have left without leaving a note.”

Garrett didn't seem to catch on as quickly.  “What are you two trying to say?”

“She didn't leave on her own, she wouldn't have.”  Winnie and Katherine shared a glance before Winnie admitted, “I think that she was taken.”
