She smiled at the thought.
He was okay after all.
“Anyway, I just wanted to come by and say I am sorry for failing you.”
“You never failed me, Dragos.” She stepped toward him and took his hand. “You taught me the only way you could. I get that now. I couldn’t imagine how hard losing her must’ve been.”
The man nodded and made his way to the door. He turned. “Maybe we could get together after everything’s settled.”
“I’d like that.”
She sighed when he left. Dmitri kissed her cheek and snuggled against her. “You okay?”
For the first time anyone had ever answered her that question, the answer was a resounding yes.
