James was already calling his eidolon forth.

“We could find out,” James said mischievously. “Do an experiment. This is an Academy after all …”

“But what of Arimus’ words?” Achan gasped.

“I’ll simply say I followed your lead.”

“Oh, that’s cruel.”

“You do have seniority over me, Sage.”

“You speak the truth, well…Sage.”

Achan leaped toward James as their eidolons clashed, a sparring between friends unlike the world had ever seen.

Regardless of what they had been through, regardless of what they felt toward the princess, regardless of the turmoil and agony they would face in only a few short months, at that moment, they cast all worry to the wind and enjoyed life.

Simply two boys, playing with their toys…
