“Do you regret it?” she asked, not sure where the question came from.

“What?”

“Leaving the colony. Is this going to be okay for you?”

Unlike the Sean she’d met when she’d first arrived, the man in her arms shifted, pulling her back so he could look her in the eyes, and talked.

“I never want you to doubt this for a moment. I’m here because I want to be. You have no idea the self-imposed hell I’d been living in. Had I stayed there, I would have eventually died in some freak mining accident or in a bar fight. Something pointless.

Meeting you, the things we went through, made me realize there was still a life out there I wanted to be a part of. You saved me, Amy.”

She felt the tears well up in her eyes and she had to touch him, run her fingers across the face of the man who’d not only saved her life, her father and her ship, but made her no longer afraid to live. She smiled and pressed a kiss to his lips.

“I love you.”

He smiled. “I love you too. But if we don’t stand up soon, my ass is going to fall asleep.”

Amy laughed and got up with him. “Well, we can’t have that. I still have plans for you.”

“I’m happy to hear it, Captain.”

“There are engines to recalibrate, the bottom hold needs to be cleaned out—”

“The captain needs to be spanked.”

Her eyes grew wide. “You wouldn’t dare.”

“Wouldn’t I?” He grinned at her and took a step closer.

Amy squeaked, bolting for the door, Sean hot on her heels. Their laugher could be heard echoing through the vastness of space.

About the Author

It took Christine a lot longer than the average bear to figure out what she wanted to be when she grew up. When she was home on maternity leave, she decided to take a stab at saving her sanity and sat down to write a romance novel. After dabbling with various sub-genres, she realized she really enjoyed creating strange new worlds and writing about sex. Whether due to the pregnancy hormones or sleep deprivation, she thought this was a great combination.

Many years later her kids are in school and she’s back at her day job, but the writing bug is here to stay. When not torturing her characters, she’s busy playing with her children or conducting “research” with her husband.
