Suzanne's Sexy Shifters [Shy River Pack 2] (Siren Publishing Ménage Amour) (18 page)

“But I want children with both of you,” Suzanne said anxiously, her grief very clear to Gideon and hopefully just as clear in Brigden’s mind as well.

“Sweetheart,” Brigden said as he lowered her to her feet, reached for the shower gel, and quickly started to clean them both up. “Gideon’s children would be stronger and larger—traits valued by werewolves—and they would have a fifty-fifty chance of being able to integrate into human society if necessary. They would find it easier to fit in to a werewolf pack than offspring of mine.”

“That might be true right now,” Gideon said, stepping into the shower to pull his man close, “but only a generation ago, being born without the purple hue to my skin would have seen me ridiculed by our pack, no matter how big or strong I was.”

“It’s not the same,” Brigden said, again trying to hide his emotions from them.

“Bullshit,” Suzanne said in a deliberate repeat of Gideon’s earlier argument. “Forty years ago humans valued sports jocks over computer geeks. With technology moving so rapidly your skills will become more important to shifters, not less.”

“Who knows,” Gideon said, pressing a kiss to Suzanne’s lips and then Brigden’s, “one day the alpha might be the one who can design complex rotating algorithms the fastest.”

Brigden snorted in disbelief, but it was clear that despite his heavy involvement in technology he hadn’t considered how, with the world changing so rapidly, that would affect future werewolf generations. As long-lived as they were, they’d seen more changes in the past twenty years than in the previous eighty, and even more in the last five than in the past ten. Life was moving forward rapidly, and shifters with Brigden’s knowledge and skill were becoming far more necessary to keeping shifter secrets.

“Thank you,” Brigden said, cuddling against Gideon and pulling Suzanne closer. They could both sense the peace that flowed through him as he finally accepted his place in the world. Even if the alpha at Shy River kicked them out for their same-sex mating, the alpha at Dry Creek had seen Brigden’s value and had offered them a home. Whatever the future held, it was not going to be as awful as they’d feared for so long.

“Lift me up,” Suzanne ordered, her smile wicked as Brigden did exactly what she asked. She lowered herself onto his hard cock, thanking Gideon telepathically when he helped her stay in place as water and shower gel conspired against her plans. “This happened so suddenly for all three of us.” She wrapped her arms around Brigden’s neck, staring into his eyes as she made love to him slowly. “And it’s going to take time to let go of all the hurts in the past”—she glanced at Gideon, obviously having caught his wayward thought of a time long ago—“for
all
of us, but we’ll make it work. I promise. We’ll make it work.”

Brigden closed his eyes against the tears that threatened to fall, their link ensuring that Gideon could sense his happiness at finally feeling like he belonged.

“I love you both,” Brigden said in a rough voice as he started to move, his cock thrusting harder into Suzanne’s pussy as she opened her mouth over his neck. Brigden groaned as she claimed him, her fervent wish to have both of their children very clear in her mind. Gideon moved close to them, sharing the incredible sensations, loving his mates as much as they loved each other. Carefully he guided Brigden’s mouth to his throat, shuddering at the incredible sensation as excitement thrilled through him. He practically growled as Brigden’s teeth pierced his skin, the amazing orgasm that followed leaving him weak in the knees.

He smiled as he felt the final link fall into place, their three-way true-mates bond complete.

No shifter could mistake the connection between them.

And that was exactly how they wanted it.

Epilogue

The rapid knocking on the front door had all three of them jolting awake. A deep breath identified their visitor’s scent and for a moment Gideon considered ignoring the man. But it was the scent of the person with him that convinced him to climb out of bed.

“If we’re going to be banished, we may as well get it over with,” Brigden said as he helped Suzanne to her feet.

“I can handle this,” Gideon said. “Why don’t you two stay in bed?”

“Nope,” Suzanne said in what was becoming a very familiar stubborn tone. “We stick together, always.”

He snatched up his T-shirt and dragged it over her head. It hung to her knees and did a very good job of covering her completely. As a shifter he was quite comfortable without clothes, but if the alpha was here to banish them, he sure as hell wasn’t getting the opportunity to ogle Gideon’s mates.

Brigden laughed softly, apparently amused by Gideon’s irrational thoughts, but quickly pulled his jeans on anyway. Mostly covered, all three of them headed to the front door. Gideon was grateful to both of them for letting him lead the way, his uncertainty over what was about to happen making him glad that he was standing between his mates and potential danger.

“Alpha,” he said in a tone that offered wary respect. He turned his attention to the woman beside the alpha of Shy River pack and nodded in greeting.

“Can we come in?” his mother asked nervously.

“That depends on why you’ve come. If you share Dad’s attitude, I’d rather you just leave us alone.” It hurt him to say that, but he wouldn’t let anyone come between him and his mates. Not even his own mother.

“I can assure you,” the alpha said in a tone that had always intimidated him as a youngster, “your mother does not share your father’s bigotry.” He gave Gideon a smile that could almost be interpreted as friendly and added, “Neither do I.”

“Since when?” Brigden asked disbelievingly. “Only a few days ago you were trying to separate Donovan from Sogarn.”

Gideon felt his lover’s worry as Brigden realized how much trouble he may have just caused the alpha’s son and his rumored lover. Nothing had ever been proven to the pack. It had only been gossip and innuendo. Suzanne slid her hand into Brigden’s, squeezing reassuringly as the alpha looked him up and down.

“I’ll say this once only, so listen well because I assure you it’s unlikely that you will ever hear it again.” He waited, his flare for the dramatic not lessened by the tension of the four werewolves surrounding him. “I was wrong. Donovan makes my son happy. I’ve asked Sogarn and Donovan and their new mate, Wendy, to move back onto pack lands. I’m asking you three to do the same.”

“Gideon,” his mother said in a voice thick with emotion, “I just want you to be happy.” She glanced at the alpha beside her and added defiantly, “Whoever you mate and wherever you live is fine by me, but I would love the chance to dote on my son’s mates and my grandchildren.”

“Thanks, Mom,” Gideon said as he stepped back and invited their visitors into the cabin.

His mother stepped straight up to Brigden and cuddled him close. “Welcome to the family, son. I always sensed Gideon had feelings for you. I’m so glad that you’ve finally been able to claim each other.”

Gideon knew Brigden was surprised by the warm welcome, but it didn’t stop him from accepting the woman’s affection. “This is Suzanne,” Brigden said when Marjorie Barclay finally let him go. She was quick to offer the same welcome to her new daughter-in-law, her smile widening when Suzanne reacted with genuine emotion.

“Thank you, Mrs. Barclay. It’s easy to see where Gideon gets his protective nature from.”

“Please call me Marjorie. And yes,” she said, her smile slipping just a fraction, “Gideon has always been very protective of the people around him”—she glanced at the alpha—“which brings us to what we wanted to talk to all of you about.”

“Your father has been removed from the position of beta,” the alpha said in a tone that suggested it wasn’t that difficult a decision, “and I would like for you to replace him.”

“Has he been banished?” Brigden asked worriedly. Considering how much the beta had hated Brigden all these years, his compassion and concern for Gideon’s father was amazing and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that his mate was a truly exceptional man. If Eadan Barclay was too blind to see it, then that was his loss.

“I haven’t banished him.” The alpha glanced at Gideon’s mother before adding, “Yet.”

“Your father has always been afraid of new ideas. It takes a long time for him to accept change of any kind.” She nodded in the alpha’s direction but addressed her words to Gideon. “I can’t guarantee that your father will ever accept your mates, but I can assure you that he’ll cause no more trouble.”

“Trouble?” Gideon asked, wondering what had gone on at Shy River in their absence.

“Nothing important,” the alpha dismissed even though it had apparently been important enough to end in the beta being forcibly removed from his position. “Will you accept the position or not?”

Gideon glanced at his mates, already knowing their thoughts on the matter.

It was more acceptance than any of them had dared hope.

“As long as I can keep my mates close.”

“Of course,” the alpha replied easily. “I would expect nothing less.”

Gideon nodded. “Thank you, alpha. I’m happy to accept.”

* * * *

Several hours later, pressed between his mates, Brigden could barely comprehend the rapid changes in his life. For decades he’d loved a man who couldn’t claim him and dreamed of a future he couldn’t ever see happening, but in the space of a few days he’d found another, unexpected mate, learned that he’d been born a human, and been able to openly claim and be claimed by the man and the woman he loved.

Even now it seemed like a dream he’d soon wake from.

Suzanne pinched him so hard he nearly leapt out of the bed.

“See?” she asked with a knowing smile. “You’re definitely not dreaming.”

“Thanks,” he said, rubbing over his arm and loving the woman even more.

He pulled her closer, his hand joining Gideon’s on her belly. It would probably be many weeks before her change to a werewolf was complete, but he found himself looking forward to a time when she could carry their children. Thanks to his mates’ love and reassurance he was no longer scared to father offspring himself. He’d love any children created between them, regardless of who fathered them, and he knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that any children born into this family would be loved.

Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined a future so bright, but he looked forward to every moment, knowing that he would have both of his mates by his side.

And nothing could be more amazing than that.

Suzanne heard Brigden’s thoughts, felt his emotions, and agreed wholeheartedly.
“I love you,”
she whispered into both of her mate’s minds.

Their responses were immediate, their love easily read. For so long she’d wondered where she belonged. Now that she’d found it she had no intention of missing the adventure of a lifetime.

A very long werewolf lifetime.
