Someday Beach (17 page)

Epilogue

Shelly felt the evening breeze from where she sat. Even though the day had been a scorcher, the breeze off the water cooled the crowd as the sun sunk slowly over the water.

When the music started, she turned and watched the bride walk across the soft sand. Cassey’s long hair was loose around her face in tight little ringlets. Her white dress flowed around her in soft waves, hugging all the right places.

She’d met Luke’s father and mother and had enjoyed meeting the other guests that sat around her. When the crowd stood, Shelly’s eyes went to Marcus’s and she couldn’t stop smiling at him as he stared at his sister walking down the aisle.

He looked so very handsome in his cream-colored suit standing next to his other brothers.

It had been almost four months since she’d opened Shelly’s. When she’d moved to her dream beach, she’d never imagined that she’d find herself being taken in by a dream family.

She sat back down and watched Cassey and Luke proclaim their love for one another and her eyes misted. Her eyes and her mind kept wandering to the man she loved and planned on marrying within the next year.

There was still so much to do before her own date. Her parents had talked them into hosting two weddings, one in DC with all the “right” people and another one here, on their very own beach.

They had both agreed to wait until the house was finished.

Her boutique was a huge success. When the official season had started, she’d quickly realized that two part-time employees wouldn’t work, so she had hired Marlene as a full-time manager and had hired two more part-time employees.

When the bride and groom walked back down the sandy aisle together, all smiles, she cheered with the rest of the guests.

The reception was held at the bar and grill. She enjoyed dancing with Marcus on the dance floor and had even danced with the groom and Marcus’s brothers.

She’d never witnessed anything so exciting as his family coming together to celebrate. She doubted the reception her mother was planning for them would be anything like what she’d experienced that evening. She was planning on having her party, here, just like this one, with loud people laughing and joking and having a great time.

As Marcus claimed her for another dance, she pulled close to him and enjoyed his kisses as he spun her on the dance floor to the slow music. As she enjoyed the feeling of him twirling her around and making her heart race, she knew without a doubt that it was exactly where she wanted to be for the rest of her life.
