Shaman - the Awakening (27 page)

My employment as a consultant with the FBI was terminated due to my mental instability. This was bogus because they already knew of my psychological profile when they hired me. I was given a full pension, as if I was a government employee. I received a classified visit from POTUS (President of the United States) and the Director of the FBI. The visit was kept a secret and I received a medal.

Nina received a huge promotion in GS ranking and was given the same medal as I was, to add to her collection of medals, plaques and awards for outstanding service and exemplary duty. She was also given a month of vacation to recuperate. As I stated, she was smarter than I was about explaining the events that occurred. She said she saw me wrestling with a large dog and Tsosie. I didn't blame her. I wish I had said the same thing.

The entire ViCAP team was honored and received medals for outstanding service and plaques for duty beyond the cause and given time off. They also received special thanks from the president. They were recognized in the media this time, but their names weren't mention by the Director.

I spent a full year at the Mental Health Institution in Falls Church. I remained a patient of Dr. Green, who continued to treat me at the hospital. Nina visited me almost every day. Steve came on the weekends without fail. He even brought Gracie to visit once. She couldn't wait to thank me in person for what I did. My mother came from Atlanta, Georgia with my sister and niece on two occasions. Amber came several times and brought her mother and son. Max visited me on Sundays, so we could watch basketball together on the television.

I received several phone calls from Paul, who transferred out of the unit after being shot. He and his family thought it best if he got a desk job at a Field Office. He received his choice of any office in the country. They decided to go back home to Houston. I still joke with him on the phone as to why he didn't decided to go to Honolulu, but that was Paul; he was down to earth and simplistic. He was a true blue Longhorn.

I heard from Dianna once while I was in the hospital, and she sent me a card. She knew I was with Nina. We were friendly towards each other, but she regretted all that had taken place and felt bad about her actions. We talked and I told her that there were no hard feelings on my side.

I caught up on a lot of reading and playing chess while at the institute. I was allowed to have one instrument while there. I chose the cello, of course. I could only play during certain hours of the day; between 1pm and 6pm, which didn't really give me a lot of time, since they filled our day from 8am to 4pm with classes and counseling. Therefore I played from 4pm to 6pm most days.

I was nearing the end of my stay at the hospital. One day while playing chess in the recreation room, as I often did between the hours of 7pm and 9pm, I sensed her coming. I got up from the table and looked out the window. It was Nina, coming to take me home; back to her cabin in the Smokey Mountains of Cherokee County. Once again she was rescuing me from the darkness.

The End.

Forever looking up and longing to be in the clouds. Climbing and making your home in the highest of trees to be close to the sky. Transcending the three worlds; the Night, the Earth and the Sky. The Guardian of the Realms.
