Roofie (MMA Bad Boys Book 2) (5 page)

“He asked her to marry him!” she screeches down the phone and I have to hold my mobile away from my ear, grimacing as it hits my brain. “This cannot happen.”

“Why not? Because you’re married to his dad? Seriously, this marriage won’t last just like the rest. Bye, mother.” I hang up and toss my phone onto the bed as I walk through the bedroom. Fuck her. Fuck my sister. Fuck everyone that’s blood related. I’m done with being the mug in the middle and I’m sick of picking up the mess after Tatiana. She isn’t my problem.

The shrill tone of my phone goes off again but I ignore it, growling deep in my chest. I can’t deal with this anymore. My mental state will only deteriorate and it’s about fucking time I took care of my damn self before the losers that make up my family. My sister has always been a whore and I couldn’t care less what happened to her. My family are dead to me. First thing tomorrow, I’m changing my number.

After my fight, I stick around and watch Beast kick some arse. He doesn’t fight much now that he’s running this joint so I make it a point to stay and watch every time he does, along with Jase. Sometimes Carlotta and Gemma join us, but tonight they haven’t. Disappointment stabs at my gut when I realised Gemma wasn’t going to be here, when she wasn’t going be so close that I could smell her. But I can’t say that I’m happy with having these damn thoughts either. She doesn’t want me and she could do better anyway. After the drunken way I treated her, why would she ever want to go another round even sober?

Shaking my head, I chug back my beer and watch as Beast knocks out his opponent with a left uppercut to the jaw. Cheers and cat calls erupt and Beast smirks, bows and leaves the ring.

“We waiting? Or meeting him at the pub?” I ask Jase who clapping away like a teenager.

“Meet him there. He said he has some paperwork to finish first.” He shrugs and we both stand, leaving the benches and making our way out into the bitter night air. The weather is getting cooler now as we approach winter and I can see the mist of my breath in front of my face.

“Fuck, it’s cold!” Jase exclaims as he rubs his hands together. His American twang has never left him since arriving in England at the beginning of secondary school. It makes the girls swoon and I can’t say I blame them. He’s the whole package. I’m just a guy in a shit hot body with a broken fucking soul. I tend to never get attached and can be cold to women after getting what I want, Gemma included, but I honestly didn’t intend for that to happen and I feel like a jerk for doing it.

Gemma. My thoughts always steer back to her and it pisses me off. I’ve never had an obsession with a girl, I’ve never been in a proper relationship, choosing instead to just sleep with women and toss them out the next morning. But unlike Beast, I’ve always been a little kinder to the women I chose to share my bed with.

“Are we not catching a taxi?” I eye Jase as he unlocks his Aston Martin Vantage GT12. “We’re drinking, right?”

“Yes, dipshit, we’re drinking. I’m driving us there and we’ll cab it home. I’ll pick up my ride in the morning. I’m not fucking waiting in the freezing cold for a taxi on a Friday night.” He shakes his head at me like I’m stupid before climbing behind the wheel.

Sighing, I climb in on the passenger side, clicking my seatbelt on. My nose crinkles at the smell in there. “What the fuck is that smell, mate?”

Jase laughs before replying, “Dude, that’s my gym clothes from earlier.”

“Gross.” I press the button to lower my window. “I don’t give a toss if you’re cold, I am not sitting here breathing in the smell of your socks the whole way there.”

Laughing again but not replying, he starts the car and some shit hardcore music blasts through the sound system and glare at him.

“You still listen to this shit?” I wave a hand the system that’s playing the music before raising a brow in his direction.

“Only when I’m alone.” Jase chuckles as he manoeuvres the car with ease through the back roads of London.

“You ain’t alone now, fucker. Turn that shit off.” I would do it myself but I have no fucking clue how to work this shit and I don’t want to break it and risk getting sucker punched.

He turns the disc over and Jason Derulo fills the car.
Much fucking better
, I think to myself.  I tilt my head back and let it rest as my fingers tap against my leg in time to the music. “Do you think Gemma will be at the bar?” Jase asks nonchalantly, not realising the slight crinkle in my brows.

“Probably. Carlotta will be and Gemma usually goes with her,” I say, not showing any kind of emotion in my voice; and that wasn’t easy to do. Jase can read me like no-one else can and sometimes it’s a pain in the arse. But I think I covered myself pretty well this time.

“True.” I can feel Jase glancing at the side of my head but I keep my expression on my face neutral. Not even twitching my features. “Are you not bothered by her at all?”

“Why would I be? I treated her like shit and she won’t go near me again. We’ve talked and that’s that. End of story, Jase.” I open my eyes and shift the position of my head to glare at him. I can see questions swirling in his eyes and he knows I won’t answer them which is why his mouth isn’t talking.

“No reason.” He decides instead. I nod and resume my restful position. Keeping my eyes open though because closing them, all I can picture is Gemma and I can’t keep going round in circles with her in my head. It’s messing me up and I can’t bring my baggage to her doorstep. My mother and sister would eat her alive and she deserves so much more than that.

The rest of the drive is silent; the only sound is the engine as it purrs down the road. We arrive at the pub not ten minutes later and I clamber out of the car. I need a fucking beer and some good pussy to fuck Gemma out of my system. Yeah, that’s what I need to do. I need to fuck someone else to get her out of my head.

Plan in place, I push my way to the front of the bar and eye the bartender until he comes over. Ordering me and Jase a pint of beer, I hand over the money and wait. My eyes wonder around the room and in my head, I’m telling myself I’m not looking for Gemma when deep down, I know I am.

I find her pretty quickly, laughing with Carlotta at one of the tables facing the bar. Fuck. I close my eyes and turn my head back to the bar, noticing our drinks already set in front of me. I down half of mine before picking up the other and turn to find Jase…who happens to be sat with the girls. Fuck my life.

Heading over there with my shoulders pulled back, I placed the beer on the table and take a seat on a rickety wooden chair.

“Hey, Roofie,” Gemma says quietly, smiling at me cautiously. The twinkle in her eye tells me she’s already had a couple of drinks…probably why she’s being nice to me when usually she keeps her distance.

“Alright, Gem.” I nod in her direction with a smirk as my eyes drift to her tits that are spilling out precariously over the top edge of her dress. My face falls and anger floods my system. “Got enough boobage on show?” I scowl at her. Why the fuck am I so angry all over a sudden? So what if she’s showing a bit of cleavage, it’s not my issue.

“Whoa, hold up, big guy. What the hell is your problem tonight? You were fine with me this morning, or did I get the wrong impression?” Her brows crinkle in confusion and her eyes lower to the table. Fuck, I’m such a prick.

“Ignore me, babe. I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with me.” I take a gulp of beer to swallow down the words I really want to say about her breasts being on such a lucid display. She’s not mine to boss about.

She smiles shyly at me before engaging in a conversation with Jase. My heart rate spikes and the first signs of the green eyed monster sweeps in front of my eyes. Jealousy now? What the fuck. Taking a deep breath, I scan the area for a hot woman to tap tonight but today they all look like sluts. Feeling this night is going to end with my dick still dry, I ask everyone if they want another round. Nodding heads is all I get and I once again make my way to the bar.

Jase is still chatting my ear off but my eyes are firmly on Roofie’s backside as he walks to the bar. I don’t know what his deal is but to me it felt like a touch of possessiveness and I feel my panties getting wet. I doesn’t matter the way he treated me in the one night we had together, I can’t get him out of my head and I’m done fighting it. I’m happy just to be friends with him but he’s even making that bloody difficult.

“Gem!” Carlotta screeches in my ear and I jump, making my chair scrape across the wooden floor.

“Fuck, Carlotta, what the heck?” I turn my wide eyes on her as my hand rests against my heart.

“Stop staring at Roofie’s arse and fucking join in the convo.” She punches me lightly in the arm, playfully and I feel my cheeks heat with embarrassment at being caught. Shit.

“I was not…” I don’t bother finishing the lie that’s trying to roll off my tongue, Carlotta knows me too well and I can tell by the shit eating grin on Jase’s face that he caught me too. “For fuck sake, he has a nice butt. Any real woman would know that.”

“Hey, I have a nice bit of arse at home already so I wouldn’t even bother looking.” Carlotta holds up her hands with a grimace on her face and I snort with laughter. “But why not just go there with him again already.”

“Because the last time I slept with Roofie, it all went to shit and I don’t want to be belittled again.” My fear. Out in the open in front of his friend and it’s really the only damn thing stopping me from jumping his bones. Even though he’s said sorry, I can’t seem to get what happened out of my head. Because really? Who says that it’s not going to happen again? And we’ll be right back to where we started. I feel myself drawing into myself. Introverted is what my parents used to call me. That was their own damn fault though.

“Gem, you okay? I didn’t…” I cut Carlotta off with a wave of the hand and sipped my drink, my face stoic. Not showing emotion is what I do best, Carlotta knows that too which is why she is giving me some weird sort of look.

“Car, you look like you have a stick stuck up you rear end. The painful look on your face is quite disturbing.” I laugh, wiggling my eyebrows. Another thing I do best, changing the subject and injecting humour into it at the same time. It works every single time.

“I’ve never had anything up my arse, thank you very much.” She grimaces and she squirmed in her seat. Yeah, I totally don’t believe her.

“Yeah, alright then. With a man like Beast? I doubt you’re able to object.” Jase howls with laughter beside me, clutching his stomach.

Carlotta’s face is laughable right now, a picture perfect moment. Then she blushes like a nun seeing a dick for the first time and I join Jase in with the laughter.

“Okay, what the fuck have I missed?” Beast says as he steps around the table and places a solid kiss on her mouth. Her blush intensifies; and so does our laughter.

“Nothing. You’ve missed nothing,” Carlotta stammers out as she pulls at his hand to sit beside her. “Gemma being her usual not-funny self…thinking she’s funny when she’s really just a complete knobhead.” Beast shakes his head and the smirk on his face tells me he’s trying not to laugh. I suspect he heard every damn word.

“Really? I would have sworn you were embarrassed about me claiming your arse, baby.” The laughter gets louder and Carlotta’s forehead meets the table with the thump.
