“Yes! Please…”

With her spread this way he found her G-spot and worked his cock over it. Back and forth he shifted. Diving in, rocking them to and fro… “Oh.” Heart pounding. “Oh!” Adrenaline building. Pulsing. Racing. Pushing as her inner muscles tightened around him for one breath-catching second—quivering hotly—until in a rush all the tightness let go. “Y-e-s!”

Through the heavy spasms of her climax a split second later she felt his grip tighten on her ass before he huskily whispered, “I’m going to love fucking you here. I’m going to make you beg for it. Cry for it. Want it so bad you’ll do anything for me.”

“David…”

“Give me your mouth.”

He kissed her so deep, fucked her so hard and consumed her so fully, she thought she’d pass out. Then when he thrust one last time and spilled his warmth into her all she could do was hold on tight and hope he did the same. If he didn’t she was sure she’d wilt right down the wall.

“Please…please don’t let go.”

“Not a chance.” His stubble-roughened jaw felt like satin against her neck as he told her, “You’re my brat, angel, and what’s mine I keep.”

***

Once again David woke up in a cold sweat. This time he stared at the clock. 4:20. He sat up and raked a hand through his hair thinking about his dream. The same one, only different in that the woman on his doorstep turned out to be Lacy. She was the woman who made the choice to leave him. This was straight up shit. A fear of rejection. He knew it, so why couldn’t he shake it off?

He repeated the mantra that Elaina and Lacy were nothing alike. Nothing. When that didn’t work to convince him, he threw off the covers and got up. So he’d have an early start to his day. Once he’d finished showering and got dressed he figured it was a little too early to wake up the whole household, but not too early for a certain someone.

Lacy snuggled into the warm blankets and swatted away whatever was tickling her cheek. “Fuck off.”

Tsk, tsk.
Did I call you an angel?”

She was so warm she didn’t want to open her eyes, but when a hand clamped around her upper arm she panicked and snapped her head to the side.

“Whoa, Lacy, it’s me.”

“David?”

He leaned forward in the upholstered chair beside the bed and brushed her hair back from her face. “What’s the matter? Were you having a bad dream?”

If only it was that simple.

“No. No, what’s wrong?” She blinked the sleep from her eyes and was glad she did when she got a load of his naked chest and washboard abs. Allowing her gaze to travel up, she drank in his strong neck and the dark stubble covering his jaw and cheeks. He was any girl’s dream. “I thought you were taking Phil to boot camp in the country?”

“I will be, but there’s something I want to do before I go.” He leaned back and relaxed in the chair. Looking all bed-sexy and gruff.

“If you woke me up to remind me, don’t worry, I remember you explaining about the notes. I wasn’t that tired last night.”

“That’s not why I’m here.”

“No?” It was kind of chilly so she hunkered up to sit Indian style on the bed. Taking a minute to draw the duvet around her like a teepee with her head poking through the top.

“I’m here because of you.”

She frowned. Maybe she wasn’t quite awake because this wasn’t computing. “Me?”

“You’re the only reason.”

“What did I do?”

“It’s not what you did. It’s what you’re going to do. You see,” He leaned forward and the sizzle in his eyes heated her up so bad she probably didn’t need the duvet. “I can’t stop thinking about you. Your taste. The feel of my cock buried inside you. The way you clung to me. How you cried out when you came.” He brushed the hair off her forehead and whispered, “The feel of your legs squeezing my waist while I fucked you. So good. I want all that again.”

“David…”

“Come here.” He spread his knees.

Not that she wasn’t going to do it, but she figured she tell him, “I’m naked.”

“I know. Come on.”

When she threw aside the covers and crawled off the bed ready to kneel between his legs he reached out and stopped her. “No, on my lap.”

Quickly she nodded and straddled his thighs. Each bent knee hugging the sides of his hips as she brought her arms up over her breasts, more to stave off the cold than for modesty. “It’s chilly in here.”

“I’ll keep you warm.”

There was no need for her to move. No adjustment to be made, because that whispered promise did the trick. She was warm now and getting warmer by the second as his gaze drilled into her. All she wanted to do was fall forward against his chest and let his strong arms embrace her, but something held her back. Fear? Or maybe the lack of it that had her more worried.

“You ‘re so pretty when you look at me like that.”

No one had ever called her that. Cute? Sure. Gorgeous? Yup. Beautiful even, but not pretty. She didn’t know if that term was an upgraded compliment, but it felt like one coming from him. So when he brought his palm up and cupped the side of her face, she angled her cheek into it. “When I look at you like what?”

“Like you’re a lonely child watching at all the other kids having fun on the playground. I see you yearning for something when you look at me. You don’t have to be afraid. I’ll play with you.”

She searched his eyes and all she saw was honesty and truth.

“You can trust me. Remember, out of all those other people in the park, I chose you. I want you to be my playmate. Don’t hold back.”

She didn’t hesitate when he opened his arms. She dove in and crushed herself against his bare chest. Squeezing her eyes shut and praying she wasn’t making a mistake in trusting him. There was only one thing bothering her. That stupid story.
Captivating Z
. It had such a sad ending she had no idea how it could be his favorite book. “Can I ask you something?”

He rubbed her bottom and back with his splayed palm. Nice. “Yes.”

Leaning back, she looked him in the eyes. “Why was
Captivating Z
your favorite story? The Dom in that book was horrible.”

He angled to look down at her. “Was that the book you were reading yesterday?”

“How did you—Yes and it wasn’t very romantic. Z made one mistake and Maurice cut her out of his life.”

David inclined his head as though in thought and then said, “You could look at it like that, but the way I look at is like this. It wasn’t a mistake, it was a decision. She left him because she had no faith in him. She’d made mistakes all over the place and he handled each one accordingly until the last one. There is no handling desertion.”

“But she came back. She wanted to apologize.”

“Some things you can’t apologize for. I speak from experience. I was burned once and I suppose that’s why I connect on some level with that book. The Dom in the story had the guts to do what I didn’t when I needed to.”

“Oh. Did she…break your heart?”

He gathered her in and sighed. “I could have lived with the broken heart. It wasn’t the first, as I take being a Dom personally. Comes with the territory.”

She snuggled in. “I’m sorry about that. But as for Maurice? He was an asshole. After everything they had together and all they’d been to each other he wouldn’t take her back.”

“If we were talking real people here, I’m sure she would have gotten over it. At least she got something from the exchange. By the end she was more confident, wasn’t she?”

“But she loved him.”

“Clearly not enough. Remind me again why we’re talking about that book now?”

She looked at him and didn’t know what to say. David wasn’t like the Dom in that book.
Sometimes he is.
“I was worried.”

“About what?”

She settled back against him. “Good things ending for me. They always do.”

“Maybe that’s because you don’t commit to them.”

“Or maybe I got tired of losing the battles. I’m not a very good soldier.”

He gathered her in. “I think you have to start concentrating on what you are instead of all the things you aren’t.”

“Hm…I’ll think about it.”

“All right enough talking and if you’re going to be thinking about anything right now I want you thinking about me.” He grabbed her hair and tugged until her neck arched. “Think about how hard my cock is when it’s inside you as you ride me. How hot my come is when I drench you with it.”

Lacy melted and sometime later in the quiet darkness, wrapped in the strength of his arms she did think about all those things. Each of them as they happened until he finally let her go clean up.

“Okay, back in bed.” David held up the duvet as she came out of the bathroom. She hurried and practically dove between the chilly sheets.

“It’s cold.” She pulled the blankets around her and spying the locked door through her bathroom she remembered. “Hey, what’s behind that door in the bathroom? Is it a room?”

David stopped and turned. “Why do you ask?”

She pointed. “The door is locked and there’s a light on. I can see it under the jam.”

“A light?” He went to the bathroom and looked in. “So there is. I’ll turn it off.”

He started to leave and she got up on her knees and bounced impatiently. “David. Is it a room?”

His head dropped back as though he was silently saying,
lord give me strength
, and then he turned. “Yes, it’s a room.” He came to the bed and looked down. “It’s my dungeon if you must know.”

“Really? And you have to go through a bathroom to get to it?” She wasn’t going to say it outright, but the thought was kind of tacky.

“No. The main door to it is behind the bookcase in my bedroom. As for that entrance?” He hiked his thumb in the direction of the bathroom without looking. “It’s wise to have access to water or, ah, other things you’d find in a bathroom.”

“Like what? A first aid kit?” She was joking, but she knew he wasn’t when he solemnly answered.

“Yes. Now get some rest.”

And how was she supposed to do that now that she knew there was a secret room so close by?

“Lacy?” She saw him standing in the entranceway. His back was to her and he didn’t turn around when he said, “I don’t want you in there. Not until I take you myself, you understand?”

“Yes.”

“Go back to sleep for a few hours. When I return this afternoon, I’ll have a surprise for you.”

Now she really wished he wasn’t going. With him out of the house the temptation to see what his dungeon looked like would kill her. Absolutely kill her…

But she’d  have to suffer as she wasn’t going in there.

She snuggled under the warm covers and had almost dropped off to sleep when another thought materialized. Not only did she open her eyes when it resonated, but she sat up as well. Staring into the blackness of the bathroom, where beyond his “off limits” room was, she pondered. Sneaking into that room was the potential catastrophe waiting to happen to her. Correction. Her sneaking in and him catching her afterward.

She didn’t hold back the inclination this time. She mouthed the word “wow” and then laid down. She’d never seen the bad before it was too late to do anything about it.

Her heartbeat picked up speed.
It’s David’s doing.

Her eyelashes repeatedly swept the pillow as she thought about this.

David had forced her to pay attention and now that she was maybe she’d see the potential harm in things before she ran headlong into them.

Returning to sleep was a long time coming for her.

Chapter Fourteen

By the time Lacy woke up hours later, she knew she was in trouble when her first thought was that dungeon. While she brushed her teeth, she actually pressed her ear to the mysterious locked door and stopped scrubbing her toothbrush over her pearly whites, hoping to hear something. What she was listening for, she couldn’t even guess. She highly doubted he had someone tied to the wall or something. Ridiculous.

She finished getting ready and had gotten halfway through David’s room when she spied the first Post-it Note. It was on his bed and it simply read.

I want to fuck you here.

Pulling the paper off his blanket, she sighed as she took in the sight of his huge and luxurious mattress, thinking she wanted to fuck him there as well. But before she turned to leave her eyes strayed to that bookcase. It was so ironic that she’d fashioned the frogs in her paintings after James Bond, and not only did he pick up on it, but he was actually like the character. A secret dungeon behind a book case? How cool was that?

“Leave before you’re tempted,” she whispered and forced herself to go. She wasn’t going sneak in there. She wasn’t...therefore it was best she went downstairs so she could avoid the temptation altogether.

Making a beeline to the stairs she stopped when she found another note.

I want to fuck you here.

She didn’t have to think twice about that. Stairs gave an adventurous couple some good and variable leverage so that was a thumbs up for her. Until she got to the bottom and there was another note. This time on the banister. Kind of tricky, but then she saw what David had written and smiled.

Are you into trying new and exciting things?

There were two misshaped boxes drawn. One for yes, and the other for no. In tiny letters at the very bottom he’d printed.

Collect all the notes that require an answer. Once you’ve ticked the appropriate box leave them on the desk in the library.

She could do that. The next three she found were all plausible places he made note that he wanted to fuck her. One up against the wall in the hall, one on his piano bench and the third was on the windowsill that was closer to his office than the library. She was actually smiling and feeling so much better, distracted as she was, until she found the string of notes that lined the hallway that lead to the library. She couldn’t be sure, but she thought most of them had the two box choice on them.

Do you like different?

Are you flexible?

Have you ever been to Greece?

Okay, that one was odd.

Do you like dancing?
