Protecting My Hart (Protectors Series Book 1) (32 page)

“Slyde…” her grip on me tightens and I feel her muscles clamp down on me hard. She’s there.

“Fall, Hart, I’m right here to catch you.” I growl out, and with one more thrust her body bows off the bed before crashing back down with a loud scream. She clamps down, squeezing me, hard and fast as her hot release floods around me. Her body shakes, trembles and spasms as pleasure races through her. Hartley’s eyes fly open and they lock to mine as she continues to shake and moan. I keep thrusting hard, each thrust soliciting another moan from her. The pressure in my balls has become unbearable. I thrust twice more, calling out her name on a loud tortured growl as the tension at the base of my spine snaps and hot pleasure races through me shooting out of my cock, filling her as I jerk and throb inside her. Hartley pulls me down on top of her. I continue to gently rock into her, soft whimpering moans continue to fall from her lips. “Fuck, Tesoro.” The word is whispered raggedly into her hair. When I can get some semblance of control over my body, I roll to my back, taking Hart with me and keeping our connection. Hartley shivers and then shivers again.

“C’mon, Hartley, let’s take a shower.”

“No, I don’t wanna move.”

“Tired?”

“And comfy.”

“How about if I do the work?”

She lets out a small grunt which makes me laugh.

“Keep your arms and legs wrapped around me.” I instruct as I sit us up and then stand, my arms going around her back and under her ass. We stay connected and with each step I take her muscles clench tighter and she lets out a soft moan. Her lips move to my neck and begin kissing and sucking. With each squeeze of her muscles I can feel my dick starting to get hard again. Fuck, she has to stop.

“Tesoro, that feels amazing but you have to stop, you’re getting me worked up again, literally.” I reach in and turn the water on in the shower. Hartley clenches tighter over and over bringing my cock back to life, which is now hard and throbbing, wrapped tight and deep inside her. She groans and grinds down harder onto me.

“Fuck, Hart. I won’t be able to stop, Tesoro.” I step us into the shower, and press her against the tiled wall.

“I don’t want you too.”

“I thought you were tired.”

“Not anymore.” She rasps looking at me through the water pouring down on us. Her entire body dripping wet and looking so damn sexy, my control snaps.

“This won’t be slow, Hart.”

“Hard and fast.” She pants, grinding against me again.

“Hang on.” I growl and press her hard against the wall, pulling my hips back and slamming back into her, deep. She cries out, her nails scratching my back, digging into my skin with every thrust. Fuck, my control is slipping quickly.

“Don’t stop!” she cries out, her nails drag across my back, tearing a loud growl from my throat.

“You’re almost there, Tesoro.”

I keep moving harder and faster. Her breathing coming in gasps, her body tenses and she clamps down around my cock hard, she falls apart with a loud cry of my name and shakes in my arms. That’s all I needed and I thrust hard twice more before I let go with several grunts and growls, pressing deep as I spill into her and her name passes my lips several times as both of us tremble.

“Fuck, Hartley, how do you do that to me? You make me lose control so quickly.”

She kisses my shoulder before lifting her head and softly kissing my lips.

“Let me get you clean.” I tell her and gently lift her, breaking our connection, she lets out a protesting whimper and I keep my arm around her waist until I know she’s steady. Grabbing her shampoo, I wash her hair, and then her body, making sure to clean every inch of her. Fuck, do I love the feel of her skin under mine.

“My turn.” She smiles and grabs my body wash. She carefully washes my front and tells me to spin around and I do, grabbing my shampoo to wash my hair, when she sees it.

“OH MY GOD!!!” Hartley cries out.

“Hart.”

“I scratched you! Oh my god! I can’t believe I did that. I’m so sorry!!!” Her voice is panicked and if I’m not mistaken I hear the threat of tears. When I turn around I see that I’m right.

“Tesoro, it’s OK. Please don’t get upset and cry.”

“It is not OK. Your back looks like you were attacked by a wild animal. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you!!”

“Hart, it doesn’t hurt.”

“How can it not hurt?”

“Tesoro, listen to me.” I hold her face so our eyes can lock. “Do you have any idea how hot it was to see you lose control like that? To feel your passion, your desperate need for me? Do you have any idea how much of a fuckin’ turn on it is to know I can make you do that. Tesoro, I like the marks. I like knowing I can drive you to that point. I love making you scream and I love you marking me.”

“Really?”

“Oh yeah, and I’m gonna spend my life bringing you to that point, over and over and over.” My lips seal to hers and I feel her relax.

We finish our shower and dry off, I slip on a pair of boxers, and she slips on panties and one of my shirts. She climbs into bed, and I turn off the lights and join her, pulling her close. She resists a little which surprises me.

“Hart?”

“I don’t want to hurt your back.” She whispers softly. I roll to my side, wrap her tight and pull her back with me.

“You sleep like this, curled close, pressed against me, every fuckin’ night, you understand?”

“Yeah.” She whispers again.

“Good.”

We lay in silence for a little while; Hartley keeps playing with my wedding ring.

“I love the ring, Hartley.”

“Good. You don’t have to wear it. I just wanted to give you something today.”

“Are you kidding? Why wouldn’t I wear it?”

“I don’t know.”

“Hartley, I’m wearing my ring, you have every right to steak your claim. I belong to you.”

“I know.”

“Good, but we need to talk. I heard it through the grapevine that you didn’t use my card when you bought this ring.”

“No, I didn’t and there is nothing to talk about. You were not buying your own wedding ring. I used the money I had been saving for our move to Montana. I don’t need it anymore so I used it to buy your ring and you don’t get to argue with me about it,” she states firmly.

“We can still go you know.”

“Go where?”

“Montana. If you want, we can move there.”

“Really?”

“Yeah really. Wherever you want to go, Hartley, we can go. It doesn’t matter to me.”

“I love you.”

“Love you too, Tesoro.”

“Slyde, I don’t want to go anywhere. Your job is here, the guys are here, Leia is here. This is where our family is. This is home, and it’s the only place that has ever been home and I don’t want to leave.”

“Then we stay,” I state simply.

“I love you. You know that right?” Hartley’s soft, sweet voice floats through the air.

“Yeah, Tesoro, I know and I love you too.”

“Where are we going?” I ask curiously.

“It’s a surprise, just sit back and relax, Hart.” Slyde smiles over at me and takes my hand.

Letting out a sigh, I relax further into the seat. I feel completely happy and sated. Slyde woke me up last night and he continued to show me all the ways he could make me scream, and again in the shower this morning. We drive a bit longer when Slyde pulls into a shopping center parking lot and I’m still completely confused as to where we are going. He helps me out of the truck, takes my hand and leads me into a bookstore.

“What do you need here?”

“I need for you to shop.”

“What?” I ask completely surprised at his statement.

“Shop, Hart. Buy books, lots of them.” He grins and pulls me further into the store. I follow him and jump into his arms and kiss him deeply.

“You’re amazing, you know that?” I tell him softly with a smile.

“Shop, Tesoro.”

“OK.” I grin and slide down his body, then following the signs I head toward my section of books. They are all so pretty. I start pulling some out and reading the backs; the ones I like I stack next to me on the floor. I’m not even sure how long I have been here when I feel his gaze on me. When I look up he’s smiling down at me.

“Nice collection there, Tesoro.”

“Um, thanks.” I smile looking down at all the books, I hadn’t realized I had so many. There must be at least fifteen in my pile. “I still have to go through these ones again and decide which one I want today, the rest can wait.” Before I can start to spread the books out and look at them again Slyde takes the one out of my hand adds it to the pile and picks them all up. “Slyde, what are you doing?”

“Collecting your books before you talk yourself out of them and put them back on the shelf.”

“I don’t need them all.”

“But you want them.”

“Slyde…” I protest again. He sets the books on the shelf, then reaches down to pull me up.

“Not up for argument, Hart, you want them, so you shall have them.” His lips seal to mine and when he pulls away, his eyes hold that look that tells me not to argue, so I just smile and kiss him again softly. Slyde grabs the books. He lets me hold some, allowing him to wrap his arm around my shoulder and walks us to the front. The older woman at the cash register smiles at us when we walk up.

“You got some good ones here.” She tells me as she rings up my books.

“Thanks. I’m excited to read them.”

She gives the total and Slyde hands her his card.

“He’s handsome, looks at you like you’re his reason for breathing and buys you books. Sweetie, you have yourself a good man here, don’t let him get away.”

“Thanks and I don’t plan to. Ever.” I smile back at her as Slyde pulls me against his side. The lady smiles again and hands me my bag full of books which Slyde takes from me, keeps me wrapped in his arm as we walk out to car. “Thank you Slyde, for the books.”

“Anytime, Tesoro, you buy books, clothes, shoes or whatever, whenever you want.”

“This is still hard for me, babe, I’m not use to this.

“I know, but it’s not gonna change, soon you won’t even think about it.”

“Maybe.”

“We got one more thing to do before Leia brings Ethan back.”

“OK.” I agree with a smile and Slyde drives us to wherever we are going. Fifteen minutes later, Slyde pulls into a car dealership. My eyes fly to his. “Slyde what are we doing here?”

Slyde parks the car, turns it off and turns to face me. “Before you get all worked up, hear me out, Hart. Your car is crap. It’s old and unreliable. The guys who have it say they can fix it but it’s gonna just keep falling apart. Once all this shit with JD is over, you aren’t going to need bodyguards. You’re going to want to go places, do things. Take Ethan to school, shop, do whatever and I want you in a reliable car. I need to know that you and Ethan are safe in whatever it is you’re driving around in and not worried that you are going to end up stranded somewhere.”

“I need to get a job.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I don’t give you enough and I need to get a job so that I can help pay for all of this.”

“Nine years, Hart.”

“What?”

“I told you there’s nine years of paychecks in our account. You don’t ever have to work again if you choose not to. You can go to school if you want, or you can find a job, or you can be a stay at home mom. It doesn’t matter what you choose to do I will support your decision, but don’t you think for a second that you have to do it because we need the money. We don’t. We will sit down in a couple of weeks and I will show you our finances so that you know where we are. As for you giving me enough, you love me, you married me, you brought Ethan into my life, therefore you have given me everything, Hartley, and I never want you thinking otherwise.”

I stare at him through the tears filling my eyes. “Is it going to do me any good to try and talk you out of this?”

“Nope.” He smiles.

“You’re like the guys in fairytales you know that?”

“No, Tesoro, I’m just a guy who finally has the girl he’s been in love with for years and is going to do whatever it takes to make sure she is safe, happy and that all her dreams come true.”

“You’ve already done that.”

“Well then, I guess this is just me spoiling my queen.” His grin widens and he climbs out of the truck comes over to my side, opening the door while I wipe away my tears. Slyde helps me out of his truck, leaving a kiss on my lips. “Let’s find you a car babe.”
