“And you know what else?” I said, not caring if Ada was even listening. I just had to say it. “I actually sort of want to be pregnant with Jake’s baby like you right now.”
Ada scooched closer to me and extended her arms out. I reciprocated and hugged her.
“It’s over now, that’s what’s most important,” I whispered.
Ada was trying to hold back a sob. “Yeah, at least we’re done.” She pulled back and looked at her belly, trying to make it shrink. “We saved the world, and all I got was this unwanted pregnancy.”
“Does that mean you want to go to the clinic this weekend?” I asked.
Ada shook her head. “Just give me some more time to think.”
The next day, Ada told me that she made her choice. She was keeping the baby. She wanted to raise it. “I guess being a mom isn’t something I hate that much after all,” she announced.
“I always thought you wanted to stay single, just having fun with anyone,” I teasingly said.
“You know, I’ve been thinking for months, and having maybe just one little Ada in the world is something I’d really like,” she replied. “I didn’t plan on it happening this soon, or like this, or with, you know, that guy as the father, but I may not get this chance again for a long time, and I’m going to take it.”
“Do you parents know yet?” I asked.
Ada shook her head vigorously. “Hell no. They thought I was dead for a few months. They probably don’t even know I’m out of jail and cleared on all charges. I’ll call them today and explain to them that I can enter their house without bringing shame to the family for generations to come.”
“Define shame. How are they going to react when they learn about the dad? Or will you just not tell them?”
Ada blanched a little. “Yeah, it may be a good idea to just not tell them the truth. I’ll say that I met a guy and I wasn’t careful. At least that isn’t a lie.”

, Ada was terrified when she first learned she was pregnant, especially because of who the father was. And like in the movie, she gradually got used to the pregnancy. She took good care of herself for the remaining four months, and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Hunter Bose weighed eight pounds, was built like a bull, and cried like, well, a baby. Ada fell in love with him the moment she first laid eyes on his wet and bawling face. She cried and kissed him all over his body, and I started crying too. I never saw Ada this emotional and happy.
Hunter had lovely light brown skin, a few wisps of chestnut-colored locks, and a winning smile. From seeing him right out of the womb, I knew that he had inherited all the good looks from his parents. This boy was going to grow up to be a ladykiller of a man. Other guys had to watch out. Ada took to being a mother perfectly. She devoted herself completely to feeding him, playing with him, and spending all her time raising the baby.
Imprisonment left Ada still deeply bitter at the government. As loyal as she used to be to her employer, Ada had had enough of working in Washington. She quit right after giving birth, and I decided that I was finished as well. We had saved up a lot of money, and we each moved away and bought a house in Los Angeles. We specifically chose the city because we knew no one there and no one knew us. Ada and I founded Bandersnatch, a private investigation and security firm. With our experience, credentials, and fame, we were busy and successful in months.
Admittedly, I had to handle most of the field investigations and tougher jobs. Ada needed to raise Hunter, and she was usually in the office writing reports and researching on the computer while Hunter suckled on her breasts for milk. He was a voracious drinker, and he grew stronger and bigger at a freakish pace. He was without a doubt Jake’s son.
The anxiety never went away. We would have to tell Hunter the truth one day, but that day was still very far away. When he got a little older, we would tell him that his dad couldn’t be around because he had done some bad things, and that the important thing was that we were here for him, and that he needed to avoid becoming who his dad was. Ada swore that if she ever did one thing right in her life, it would be to raise Hunter to be a good man and not Jake, and I would be around to help her.
Our lives went along as happily as they could be. Sure, there were tough times, but we were still happier than we ever imagined we could be. The news one day splashed cold water onto our comfortable life one day. It happened when Hunter was nearly a year old. I turned on my laptop, and the first item that greeted my eyes was breaking news.
“Assault on federal prison, major casualties, inmates escape,” it blared. I clicked on it and read the article. A small army broke down the walls and rampaged through the complex, killing guards and releasing prisoners. I almost fainted when I read the name “McKenna Addison” as one of the escapees.
When I showed it to Ada, her face turned white.
“But she doesn’t know where we are,” I assured her. “We kept our names and data secret. She hasn’t got any of the money or power she used to have. Chances are, she’ll be caught. And if she tries to find us, we’ll be prepared.”
Ada was cradling Hunter’s soft and adorably tiny head as he grabbed and sucked her left nipple for nourishment. He was always hungry, and Ada was always willing to feed him. She nodded uncertainly.
“Whatever happens, we’ll be ready,” she declared. I saw her eyes burning, and I noticed the tough woman I loved and respected so much.
“The good news is that at least Jake didn’t get out,” I remarked. “Says here he was shot and maimed. He won’t be running away anytime soon.”
“He doesn’t look so tough at all now,” agreed Ada as she looked at the prison photo of him decked out in a jumpsuit and appearing thinner and weaker.
Jake’s eyes, however, had the same eerie fury and intelligence. He was incarcerated and wounded, but wounded animals often fight the hardest. I knew that we couldn’t underestimate him.
“Look,” pointed Ada to the screen. “McKenna was pregnant?”
I noticed the text. “Shit,” I said. “So Hunter has a brother or sister.”
We didn’t know what to say. Ada then held my left hand with her left hand. She clutched Hunter even closer to her breasts.
“Stay strong, Sabina. We’re going to get through whatever the world throws at us.”
“Yeah,” I replied, smiling and trying to not give in to fear. “We’re going to win.”

A Bad Boy Billionaire Romance

ALICIA
When I arrived in Paris, I knew that I would be a changed person after I left, but I had no idea that one bad boy would make me become an alternate version of myself. I went from being an innocent young woman to being addicted to a French billionaire named, Mason. He was not good for me on any level. But he had this hold on me, and the many tests that he put me through made me become obsessed with not only taking those tests, but passing them too.
It all started in my week of living in the Montmartre neighbourhood of Paris known for artists like Picasso, Monet, and Dali. It was the perfect place to spend my summer sitting at cafes sketching, writing, and just enjoying life. I didn’t come to Paris for anything in particular except to partake in and experience the culture. Little did I know that I would be experiencing the underground erotic world of the billionaire elite. It came looking for me, and I could not resist.
That day was like every day I had so far in Paris. I sat in my Parisian flat with its Juliet style balcony French glass doors looking out over the busy street. I could see the café that I had been to for lunch every day since I arrived across the street. I would be going there again today to sample the superb creamy cheeses, croissants, and decadent rich chocolate coffees. I sat in front of my vanity and pulled up my jet black long hair into a high pony tail and tied a red ribbon around it. I layered on red lipstick to match the ribbon and tucked in my black and white striped shirt into my high waist skintight black jeans. Then I slipped on my black ballet flats. I looked at myself in the mirror. I was an American girl trying too hard to look French, but I didn’t care. When in Rome, I thought, or in this case Paris. I was a petite brunette with dark hair and dark eyes and I liked to wear lots of mascara and red lipstick, but little else in the way of makeup. I grabbed my wallet and sketchbook and headed to the café. I sat down at what had quickly become my favorite table. It was at the end of a long row of tables so I only had people sitting next to me on one side, so it gave me some privacy. I sat down and ordered an espresso with croissants and strawberries. Then I opened my sketchbook and began to sketch the flat that I was staying in across the street. I was completely involved with my drawing and my delicacies that I didn’t even notice the long black car pull up to the curb. Not until I heard, “You’re sitting in my seat,” in a thick French accent. I looked up to see a handsome polished man towering over me. He had unruly curly locks, big brown eyes, and he was tall and fit. He gave that whole “tall, dark, and handsome” thing a little something extra by being very French, and by the look of his suit very successful. I felt excited as soon as he smiled at me with full soft pink lips and brilliant white teeth.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know this table was reserved,” I said playfully, knowing full well that tables were not reserved at this place and that this guy was feeding me a line, but I was welcoming it.
“Well, it is not reserved but I have sat here for years, so it is mine. I claim it,” he said playfully.
“Oh I see, well I will share it with you, but I’m not getting up for you,” I said as I put my attention back on my sketchbook. Half ignoring him just because I could.
“I guess that is a good proposition. I will sit with you, but only if you tell me your name, beautiful American girl with the sketchbook.”
“My name is Alicia,” I said smiling up at his compliment. He was French after all and they were full of compliments, I might as well enjoy the perks of this culture.
“Thank you for letting me join you at my table Alicia. I am Mason, as a reward I will pay for your bill, if you let me.”
“A reward?” I arched my eyebrows at him.
“Yes, I like giving out small rewards. It is fun for me. A game I like to play sometimes,” he said biting his lower lip.
I could tell that he was being sexual, even without saying anything about sex. It was hot and I was already feeling turned on by the way he was looking at me and talking to me. The waiter came over and he acknowledged Mason like they were old friends. I could not understand what they were saying because they were speaking their native tongue, but they gave a few glances at me, so I knew some of the words were about me. Then the waiter was off doing Mason’s bidding.
“So you live in Paris, American girl Alicia?” he asked as he looked me up and down. I suddenly felt how tight my shirt was against my breasts as he stared at them and he didn’t even try to hide that he was looking right at them. I wondered if my nipples were hard, but I tried to concentrate on his face. He was a gorgeous man, and I could tell that he was a bad boy. He was the type of man that women should run from, I knew that I should do nothing more than share my table with him, but something told me I would be sharing more than that.
“No, I do not live here. I am only visiting for the summer,” I said.
“That is perfect,” he said.
“It is? What do you mean?” I asked but was interrupted as the waiter came over and popped a bottle of champagne and poured it into two champagne flutes. Another waiter came out with a three-tiered trey with all kinds of sweets and delicacies covering its surface. They were bringing out all the stops for this man, Mason. I smiled at the luxury of it all but I knew that this was dangerous territory. He was trying to wine me and dine me. I could feel it. A part of me wanted to go along with his game, but I knew better. Alicia don’t get ahead of yourself, enjoy the foods and nothing more, I told myself.
