The Authors

LOVELLA SCHELLENBERG
enjoys farm life together with her husband, Terry, near the west coast of British Columbia. Having been married thirty-three years, they are in the empty nest stage of life with their two sons grown and married. They are now reaping the benefits with four delightful grands.

Lovella and Terry’s passion for seeing marriages thrive has filtered down to their involvement together in a pre-marriage mentoring capacity at Northview Community Church.

She loves to hike the beautiful coastal mountains and on occasion can be found sitting at her sewing machine or in her backyard sipping hot coffee with her beloved.

ANNELIESE FRIESEN
and her husband, Herb, have made their home in the beautiful Fraser Valley of British Columbia, where they have raised three children. They are the proud grandparents of seven sweet grandchildren.

Together they have been involved in various ministries related to care and hospitality for thirty years. She is now in what she calls the fall season of her life, enjoying the vibrant colors of the changes this season has brought with it. Her desire is to encourage younger women in their roles as wives and mothers, being grateful to her Lord and Savior for his wonderful provision for such a time as this.

JUDY WIEBE
lives with her husband, Elmer, in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, where she is involved in the family dairy farm operation. She has three grown children, their spouses, and her delightful grandchildren living nearby.

Judy enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, creating things in her kitchen or sewing room, and traveling whenever possible. But her favorite times are those spent with friends and family. She attends Central Community Church in Chilliwack.

BETTY REIMER
together with her husband, John, lives in Steinbach, Manitoba. She and her husband owned and operated a farm and garden equipment business for twenty-eight years and are now retired.

Betty attends Evangelical Fellowship Church. She loves spending time with her family and friends and enjoys reading, gardening and traveling.

BEV KLASSEN
works with her husband, Harv, in a home-based business in Rosedale, British Columbia. Bev and Harv have three children and five grandchildren; they enjoy hosting family and friends in their home.

When she’s not taking pictures, making scrapbooks, or making cards, Bev can be found traveling—either by car or on the back of a motorcycle. Greendale Mennonite Brethren Church has been her church home for forty years.

CHARLOTTE PENNER
lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with her husband, Tony, and family. They attend Douglas Mennonite Church and as a family are involved in a variety of ways. Charlotte has reached out and served in her community for the past 20 years with the local Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Charlotte loves hosting and being with family and friends. She has a special gift with her hands and uses them to serve others.

ELLEN BAYLES
lives in the Seattle area with her husband, Greg. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and completed her education there with a bachelor of arts degree in home economics and a fifth year to earn her elementary teaching credential. She was an elementary school teacher until her first child was born.

Ellen and Greg raised two sons and a daughter. She now enjoys homemaking, traveling, and photography. She and Greg attend Westminster Chapel in Bellevue, Washington.

JULIE KLASSEN’S
life was changed because of unexpected health challenges. But every cloud has a silver lining, and Julie is now enjoying early retirement.

Julie lives with her husband, Vic, in Chilliwack, British Columbia, close to their daughter, son-in-love, and two beautiful granddaughters. She enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as reading, writing, baking, sewing, and leading a weekly Bible study group with her husband.

KATHY MCLELLAN
grew up on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. She met her husband, Scot, the summer of grade eight at their church youth group. The high school sweethearts married New Year’s Eve of Kathy’s graduating year. Together they raised their two daughters on a hobby farm in the Fraser Valley. Both girls are married and have added a total of five precious grandchildren to the family.

Together Kathy and Scot enjoy spending time with their family, camping with their grandchildren and friends, hiking, and riding their Harley. They attend Promontory Community Church.

MARG BARTEL
was born and raised in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. She met her husband, John, at a farm sale, and together they continued a farming career. Later in life, when farming no longer demanded her strong support, Marg decided to continue her education and completed her baccalaureate degree, thus giving her new opportunities to work outside the home.

Marg is a sports enthusiast and enjoys traveling. She also enjoys the opportunity to be actively involved in the life of her family, friends, community, and church.
