“Yes, Daddy!”

He piled the kids on top of each other, tickling and wrestling with both of them. Then he pulled Inga up from the floor and sat her on his lap, hugging her to him.

A good father was something to behold. He’d been through hell in the past year, but things were settling for him now. Well, as settled as they would get for a while. He seemed happy, truly happy. The kids were adjusting. Maybe his nightmares were almost gone.

He’d had a submissive slave in Anne. He’d told her that Anne had been obedient and that he’d rarely had to punish her. Would she ever be able to reach that level? She wanted to.

She couldn’t imagine why he’d even want to try with her. She required too much work and had so much to learn. And after all that work, would he still be happy with her submission? Would she be what he
really
wanted? She wondered if he compared them often — her and Anne.

She decided that he must, because she compared herself to Anne often. Inga knew she was insecure with the new role. Even now, she sat staring at them, not knowing if she should jump in on the fun, or stay on the floor feeling like an outcast. The familiarity of her role as Nanny was easier, comfortable.

Submissive. Slave. While those were roles that she desired and fantasized about, the transition had been difficult. How did Garrett see it? Did he see these roles as still being out of her reach?

She watched him playing with his children. They were so happy — laughing, tickling, giggling, and wrestling. Had she helped with that? Maybe. If she had a relationship with Garrett, would it make it worse though? She hoped not. With her visa expiring, maybe it would be best to leave and go back to Sweden. Let them adjust now that she helped them over their bump.

But could she actually leave?

Chapter Eighteen

G
arrett had the children dressed and at the table by the time Inga came into the living quarters. Music played in the kitchen, he was whistling and Madalyn and Liam were laughing and talking amongst themselves. A pleasant morning. But a morning in which Inga would be making decisions.

She’d tossed and turned most of the night and had decided it would be best for everyone if she left. The upcoming expiration of her visa seemed like a sign — it was time to go back to Sweden. Her purpose had been to help them transition, to help them come to their new normal. Today would be her last breakfast with them. She’d say goodbye to Garrett and ask his mother to come and watch them, using the excuse that she felt ill. She’d call a taxi and catch a flight back to Sweden. She’d Skype with Garrett after she arrived home.

She imagined he’d be upset but it was for the best. He’d grow tired of her once the reality sunk in that she’d never be Anne, that he’d tied himself down in marriage with a woman he barely knew, let alone really loved. No, this was best for everyone.

“Hey, are you okay? You seem a little distant today.” Garrett closed in on her, capturing her in a corner of the kitchen counter, blocking any escape.

“Yeah, I’m just not feeling well today.” She avoided his gaze. She hated lying to him and if she was to guess, it was probably not something he tolerated well either.

“I’ll stay home. I can call the office, they’ll bring a resident in to cover, and I’ll take care of you all day.”

“No. Don’t do that, please. I just have my period. It’s just cramps. A little Ibuprofen and I’ll be fine.”

He stared into her eyes, and she forced herself to maintain eye contact. She didn’t need to tip him off with her body language. “If you’re sure. But I’ll check on you later, and you’re to call if you need a break today. Clear?”

“Yes, Master.”

“Do
not
disobey me on this. I want you resting if you’re not well, and I need to know that the children are being cared for.”

“Yes, Master.”

She slipped past him and stood near the kids, talking and laughing at their antics. When she looked over at Garrett, he nodded to her chair, giving her permission to sit. He walked over with a glass of juice and some Ibuprofen. “Take these. You’ll feel better soon.”

The rest of breakfast had been uneventful, yet she catalogued everything that happened, wanting to remember her last meal with the family she’d come to love.

“Well, it’s time for daddy to go to work. Who has a kiss for daddy?” Madalyn scrambled from her chair, running into his waiting arms. Inga unbuckled Liam from his high chair to freeing him to dash into Garrett’s embrace too.

“Do I get a kiss from my tall girl? A kiss from the nanny might be required for my day.”

“Oh, only a kiss?” she teased, sauntering over to him with a mischievous smile.

He whispered in her ear. “I only have time for a kiss, bad girl. But I’ll take a rain check for tonight. And if you’re still not feeling well, maybe I’ll take your temperature and give you a check up while I’m at it.”

“I’m sure that won’t be necessary.”

Master.
That won’t be necessary,
Master.
I think you need to leave that up to me. I am after all the doctor in the house.”

He lifted her chin, kissing her long and slow. Just as her pussy began to throb, and she feared she’d be unable to hold still, he pulled away, kissing her nose.

“Behave! I’ll check up on you later.”

He then turned to Madalyn and Liam. “Behave! You two be helpers today. Miss Inga has a belly ache and needs your help.”

I
nga didn’t usually believe in doing so, but she put the kids in front of the TV, letting them watch cartoons, giving her the ability to call Garrett’s mom and ask her to come over in three hours. She’d make her flight on time. And it would give her time to call Hanna to let her know she would be home tomorrow morning.

“Hi, Nancy, this is Inga. How are you?”

“I’m good, sweetie. Is everything okay?” Concern laced Nancy’s voice.

“Yes. I’m just not feeling well and would like to go to the doctor’s this afternoon. Would you be able to watch the kids from about noon until Garrett comes home? That would give me time to pick up a prescription, if necessary.”

Inga’s voice quavered slightly as she spoke. She hated lying.

“Of course. I’ll be there by noon. Do you need me to come earlier?”

“No, no. I’ll be fine. I’m just taking it easy with the kids until you get here. I’m fine.”

“Inga. Make sure you call me if you need me to come earlier, I have nothing else to do today. Understand?”

“Yes, Ma’am. I understand. I’ll see you at noon.”

Now, to call Hanna.

She peeked around the corner. The kids were still watching TV.

“Hi, Hanna, it’s Inga. I’m coming home today.”

“What? W-what do you mean you’re coming home today? You can’t.”

“I think it’s for the best. I told him about my visa — well, he found out about the visa. He wasn’t happy, but brought me to the Immigration Office and you’re not going to believe what he did!”

Inga started feeling the anxiety of the situation all over again.

“What?”

“He told them that he wanted a ninety day fiancée visa. Fiancée! Do you believe it?” Inga let out an exasperated sigh.

Hanna paused so long that Inga wondered if the call had dropped. “Hanna, are you still there?”

“Yeah. I’m here.” She paused again. “Inga, he wants to marry you? I think—”

“It’s ridiculous, right? Isn’t it the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever heard in your life?”

“Well, no. I think it’s romantic and sweet. I think he loves you, and you love him. And, wait — why are you coming home? It makes no sense!” Hanna shouted into the phone.

“What’s not making sense is your reaction to this. He doesn’t love me. I’m just a rebound. I mean, yes, he’s training me as his slave. And I do love him, I do. And I’m pretty sure he loves me, and the kids do too. But to marry me? It’s preposterous. And telling me that you’re marrying me as a resolution to my visa situation is
not
romantic.” She rubbed between her eyes, taking a deep breath. “Anyway, I’m catching a flight at three o’clock today and will be there tomorrow morning. Will you pick me up from the airport, please?”

“Inga, please. Just think about this. This is what you’ve hoped for. You’ve wanted a Master — someone to love and marry. And then add to that the ability to live in the United States. Don’t be rash with this — you’ll ruin it.”

“I’m not discussing this anymore today. I’ll see you tomorrow, Hanna. I’ll call you when I land and text you the information. Bye.”

After feeding the kids a morning snack and settling them again in front of the TV, she went to pack her suitcase and make sure she didn’t forget anything. She had an hour to get everything together and in the car before Nancy came over.

G
arrett had an uneasy feeling all morning. Something seemed off with Inga. She wasn’t herself at all. Then he’d talk himself into remembering what women were like with their menstrual cycles, shrug it off, and continue with his morning.

Until he received an unexpected phone call.

“Garrett, this is your mother. Inga called me a few minutes ago asking if I’d watch the kids from noon until you came home. She said she’s not feeling well, and she’s going to the doctor’s office. Did you know she was sick? Should I go now?”

“Hi, Mom. I knew she didn’t feel well, but she assured me she’d call me if she felt any worse. And no, I didn’t know she was going to the doctor.” He paused to control the anger rising within him. “I’m on my way home now. Please meet me there, and I’ll have you take the kids so she can rest in a quiet house. Does that work for you?”

“Absolutely, Garrett. I’ll be there soon.”

The anger at not being notified by Inga herself, had been replaced with concern. He worried that it could be something serious. He wondered if he’d always leap to a tragic conclusion every time someone became sick. He couldn’t lose another woman, another slave.

Don’t think like that, Garrett. She’s fine. She’s just ill.

By the time he arrived at home, his concern had hit a level that he knew didn’t make sense. But he couldn’t deny the feeling that something was very wrong. He walked in to see the kids sitting in front of the TV. Madalyn was the first to notice him. “Daddy!” She ran to him with Liam bringing up the rear.

“Hey. How are you guys?” He squatted, catching both of them and kissing their foreheads. “Where’s Miss Inga?”

“She’s in her room. I just checked on her, and she’s okay. She said she’s fixing her clothes. She says her tummy doesn’t hurt anymore, daddy.” Madalyn rubbed his shoulder as she talked.

“You guys stay here and watch TV, daddy’s going to check on Miss Inga, and I’ll be right back. Behave.”

He stopped in the doorway of her bedroom leaning against the doorjamb with his arms crossed on his chest. He watched her packing her things into her suitcase. Facing the other way she had no idea that he stood watching her, watched that gorgeous ass outlined by her sundress.

“So were you going to say goodbye to us, or were you just going to leave?”

“Oh,
Gud!
” She spun around, her hand over her heart. She briefly closed her eyes trying to calm herself. “Don’t do that! You scared me half to death.”

“Just like you scared me half to death.” He pushed off the doorjamb. “I had my heart in my throat the whole way home. I’m afraid I’ll go to a morbid place when someone I care about becomes ill. Scars. Scars from life change who you are and how you react to things. I worried that you’d be deathly ill, that I’d be bringing you to the hospital.”

She reached out and touched his face gently. He leaned into her touch. She calmed him, and he loved that about her. She brought peace to his soul. Anne made him feel in control. He’d been the dominant Master with her — in control, in charge, honored, obeyed. Anne had deferred to him in all things.

Inga would be different. She’d submit. Oh, it might be a struggle, but she’d submit beautifully, he had no doubt about that. She’d obey and honor him, but there’d be a struggle with the independent, fiery woman standing before him now. She didn’t automatically defer to another’s opinion. She’d only be swayed by reason and intelligence. He’d have to explain and coax. It wouldn’t be in a bid to gain her permission — he’d never seek permission — but rather, it would be as her Master. He’d have to approach things differently though.

Like the Visa. The tactic he’d used would’ve worked with Anne, she would’ve been pleased with him taking control, and presenting her with the solution. She delighted in him when he’d solved things. She didn’t have to worry when Garrett took on her problems.

Inga on the other hand, wanted to be involved. She
needed
to be involved, even required it. If he had presented his solution to her, discussed his love for her, and explained his heart and why the plan would be best for everyone, she would’ve agreed. At least he hoped so.

He took hold of her hand, pulling her in for a gentle, long kiss. When he finally broke the kiss, his lips against the smooth skin of her cheek, her breathing was fast and shallow.
