LS: The Beginning (33 page)

Unlike most couples, Lisa and I had spent the first month
without reaching
first
base and with the way things were going we could go for
months without kissing. I was still frightened about the tongue
burning
incident she’d had with David, so I wasn't
bold enough to make the first move.
The most shocking bit of all was even though we lay on
the same bed, the highest sexual activity had been a cuddle. I never wanted to put any pressure on her because I knew what I needed from the
relationship: intimacy, and as we were spending practically every working moment together, I was more than fulfilled.

The last week of lectures had come and gone. We had written our last
exams, and it was now time to have fun. Lisa had suggested we go on a vacation to Spain
or Brazil for the summer period. I wasn’t so good with planning, so I agreed with any suggestion she came up with.

It was a sunny day, though one could still feel the cold air swirling around – except Lisa, whose skin kept her warm at all times.

“Come look,” Lisa called while I was busy on her laptop.

I moved out onto the balcony. “What is it?” I asked, wrapping my arms around her waist with her back against my front; a
privilege only a lover would be entitled to.

“See how
happy they are,” she said, looking at her brother playing with his girlfriend

I nodded. “You think?”

Lisa turned her neck to look at me and began laughing. “You’re
so funny,” she said.

“Yeah, I know,” I replied, my hands still wrapped around her waist. Again, she turned her neck – but this time she was frowning. “Hey Lee, what’s the problem?”

“I’m not so comfortable that she’s older than him,” she said, looking at the girl.

“Sweetheart, age is only a number,” I explained.

Lisa sighed. “Yeah, that’s true.”

“What plans do you have for today?” I asked, releasing my hands from their current position so she could make a 360º turn.

She wrapped her hands around my neck. “Let’s see,
hmm … I have a karate class to attend, and I’ll go fix my nails. Hmm … That’s pretty
much it. What about you?”

“Let’s see,” I said, pondering. “I guess I’ll watch you do all those things.”

Her grin stretched across her face. “Okay, you’re asking for it. The
karate lesson starts in about fifteen minutes,” she said.

"Whoa. Are you serious?"

"Yeah, I'm serious," she replied.

Although we'd promised each other that we would live a normal life, there were times when we were forced to use our special abilities for convenience. This was one of them. Lisa had less than ten minutes to get
dressed and drive to school, where her class was being held. There was no
possible
way she was going to arrive at her lesson on time; even the technology of mere man, wouldn’t get her there on time.

She quickly changed in a casual looking outfit and placed her karate
uniform in a duffle bag, which took her about four minutes. I didn’t bother
changing my attire because I had no intention on participating in any of
her day’s activities.

“Last one to reach the school is a rotten egg,” she taunted, securing her bag along her ch
c
est.

Before I could blink my eyes, she’d dashed off with such extreme speed that
the mug on the table toppled with instinct and speed. I caught it before it could hit the
ground.

"You're just a cheat," I moaned.

I met Lisa at the college's gym after a minute’s run. She'd begun stretching for her lesson.

“Why are you always so slow? Do try to catch up next time,” she grumbled.

I chortled. “No worries. I'll beat you to it next time.”

I moved toward the weight lifting section of the gym and began exercising. I noticed Derrick was lifting some weights in the gym; he smiled as he noticed me. Word had it that the school’s basketball team was playing their final match of the season. They'd already won
the championship match against their rivals and were looking forward to
winning their last match as well.

Lisa ran across the gym. “Oh my God, look at the time,” she said.

“What's wrong?”

“I'm going to be late for class.”

“Yeah, that's true.” I dropped the eighty kilogram weight on its stand.

Lisa rushed to her lesson and had demanded I went with her. I'd assumed I wouldn’t be allowed to enter the Dojo since I'd entered
only
once on a trial, and I still wasn’t a member. Strangely, the sensei welcomed me gladly, asking again if I would
like to join but I wouldn’t be able to do anything since I arrived to the
room wearing jeans and a shirt. I
was even shocked that the sport assistant allowed me to use the gym with
the clothes I wore.

The room was sparse. The only pieces of furniture were the huge mats placed on the floor and five chairs placed against the wall, plus some sticks on the floor. I was asked to sit down and see if I would like to eventually join
the lesson. I accepted and sat down on an empty chair to watch my angel kick some butt.

Lisa was amazing: her kicks were accurate and her dodges were perfectly timed. This made me wonder how David had pushed her into the pool. She was really good at martial arts. I could guarantee Lisa would beat the sensei in battle if they ever fought in public. Her flexibility and speed made it impossible for anyone to touch her. I noticed the sensei
and Lisa were the only people wearing black belts; the rest had various other
colors.

I enjoyed watching the lesson and assured the sensei I would
be joining his team of students in their next practice. There was a lady
among the students who looked familiar. I wanted to ask about her;
not only because of her familiarity, but because she kept thinking about Lisa and I,
which was intriguing.

Immediately after the lesson, the girl approached Lisa and I.
“Hi. My name is Sheryl Stewart, and I’m a big fan of you
two.”

Lisa blushed and looked at me, saying, “Aw,
that’s so nice. Thank you.”

Sheryl smiled. “You’re welcome.”

It felt amazing for people to be rooting for the relationship Lisa and I
had. Although there was something familiar about Sheryl, like I had seen her
some hours ago but I wasn't certain. I finally gave up on my guess work and decided to ask.

“Have we met before?” I said.

“I don't think so. It must have been my twin sister, Kelly. She’s dating Lisa’s
brother,” Sheryl said, turning to face Lisa, who was now sitting on my lap.

Lisa smiled at me. “
You see, I was right,
” she said.

“Hey, do you guys know about the awards dance?” Sheryl asked.

Lisa and I glanced at each other. “No, we don’t.”

“At the end of each year, the students come together to host
an awards dance. This year it’s held in the sports hall due to limited
funds,” she explained.

We weren't into school events, so it wasn't a surprise there was an award night coming up and we knew nothing about it. Also, lectures had finished and we hardly visited college.

“Is
there anything we can do to help? I mean like funding,” Lisa asked.

Sheryl grinned. “Yeah, there is a little problem with the
funding of the awards, so anything you can donate would be helpful.”

“I see.” Lisa glanced at me again to seek my approval. I happily nodded.
“So, who can we give it to?” she asked.

Sheryl was astounded by her quick response: she was thinking,

Are
these
people
for
real?”
“You can give it to me. I’m the secretary of the student union.”

She removed a badge from her pocket and showed us. In an instant, Lisa’s check book was out. She signed in an amount of $2000
under the names ‘Lisa & Stephen’, and gave it to her.

“Oh, thank you. It's very thoughtful of you,” Sheryl said, stretching
her hand to receive the check. Her fingers trembled as she read the check.

“You’re welcome,” Lisa replied. I remained silent.

Sheryl placed the check in her bag and brought out two tickets, saying, “Normally you buy your tickets, but due to your enormous donation
,
these are for you.” She handed Lisa two tickets for the dance. Some would say she
gave us the tickets as a bribe, but it was clear she was returning our
generosity.

“Thanks. We’ll be there,” Lisa assured her.

“That would be great,” Sheryl responded. “See you soon. Bye.”

“Bye.”

Due to the upcoming event, Lisa added

hair styling’
to the to-do
list for the day. We had to look for Derrick because he was among
the party committee and we needed to buy tickets for our two closest friends. We ended up buying three tickets after I remembered I had
a cousin studying in the same college. How could I have forgotten about Stacey? Did I dislike her that much?

The day was a little busy due to Lisa's
haircut, which wasn't so different from her former one, even with the hour long w

ashing, drying and styling of it.

We surprised Sharon
and Catherine with a visit
and gave them the tickets we’d bought for the awards dance. They wrapped their arms around Lisa and I, feeling really excited. Though, there were planning on getting their tickets the next day.

Lisa went alone to buy her dress for the
event. I begged her not to go, but she assured
me she’d be back in a jiffy. Even though there was no sign of David, I didn’t want to be far away from her.

“Still, let me come with you,” I said.

She shook her head. “No worries honey, I’ll be fine.” She leaned forward and pressed her soft glossy lips against my cheek.

I smiled. “Don’t be late.” Just the touch of her lips coaxed me. How easy!!!
