Jaxson (10 page)

“My dear, to what do I owe the pleasure?” she asks, ushering Lyndley into the kitchen. She doesn’t even give me a second glance, but it’s not like I care all that much. Lynd needs the love more than I do right now.

“Well, after an incident at the diner, I got the afternoon off. Luckily, Jax was there to help me deal with what happened.” I watch as Lyndley turns into herself and starts to act unlike herself. She’s afraid that everyone will judge her like that bitch did. Little does she know, she’s still the girl my momma loves more than anything.

She doesn’t look like the girl I’ve loved for years; she looks like a shell of herself. Maybe some time with momma will help her.

“Oh, my sweet girl. Please don’t let what one stuck-up little girl said hurt you. My son told me what you had to go through on your own, and I don’t ever want either of you to have to go through something like that again. That girl needs to be taught some manners.”

I see the questioning look on Lyndley’s face, but I shake my head when she looks at me, silently asking if I told her. She shrugs and says, “Small town gossip.”

“Thank you, Mary.” My momma hands her a glass and I raise an eyebrow. I was hoping that she would be nice and give me a glass, but instead she tells me to leave.

“Now, Jaxson, don’t you have some work to tend to?” She glares at me. Lynd giggles at the face I make. Walking over to her, I mutter, then kisses her cheek.

Making my way over to her, I wrap my arms around her and whisper in her ear, “I should have told you she knew. I’ll be back in a little while. Tonight, you are all mine.”

“I hope you can outdo your last first date,” she says a knowing grin.

Grabbing her ass, I kiss her lips. “Let’s just say that you will never need another first date.” I kiss her once more before I walk out the front door to leave them alone.

Making my way out to the back fence, I take my tools and start to fix the spot that a cow got stuck in a few days ago. Once I get the fence fixed, my guys call me to tell me that they are missing a few cows and that they are going to go look for them. Giving them the go ahead, I make my way back to the barn to load the bales of hay.

A few hours into it, I hear a truck pull up behind me. When I look over my shoulder, I see Tate making his way towards me. “Hey man.” I greet him. We haven’t really talked since the other day, I didn’t even expect him to show up today.

“Hey, I’m sorry for being a dick lately. I just don’t get why the fuck you’re taking her back after all the fucking heartbreak she left you with.” He kicks a rock with the toe of his boot and I watch him for a second. At first he was all for me getting her back, I wonder what the fuck happened.

“You remember when you were in love with Nyssa?” I ask. He nods his head, but doesn’t say anything back. “You would do anything for that girl and when it was over, you were fucking pissed and hurt, but you still loved her even after she broke your heart.”

“That’s not the same thing.” he grits out. His eyes darken and he looks away from me.

“How isn’t it the same thing?” I ask dropping the bale of hay at my feet.

“Because Nyssa didn’t give a fuck about me and I didn’t follow her like a fucking puppy dog afterwards.” He spits out. Something must have happened between them. He used to tell me that nothing would tear them apart.

“I didn’t follow Lyndley around. I let her go because she wanted to. Now that she’s back, I get a chance to get my wife back.” He shakes his head at me and goes to walk away. “Just because you’re fucking unhappy doesn’t mean I have to be. She’s all I’ve fucking thought about for the last ten years and I will do everything in my power to get her back in my arms every night.”

He gets in his truck without another word and I get back to the shit I have to get done before I go and pick Lyndley up from my momma’s house. My phone starts to ring and when I look at the screen, I see one of my farms hand’s number on the screen.

“Yeah?” I answer.

“Hey boss, we have another hole in the east side of the property. Can you fix it while we herd the cattle back towards the barn?”

“Yeah. I’ll be out there in a few minutes. Thanks. Let me know if you see any other holes in the fence.”

“Will do.” I sigh and hang up, pocketing my phone. Tossing the bale of hay on top of the stack, I look over at the truck and see one of the guys walking towards me.

“Hey Mike, can you finish this up? I have a hole in the fence I need to take care of.”

He nods and takes my place without question. “Thanks.”

Making my way to my truck, I get in and head towards the east side of the property to fix the fence for the fourth time in a week.

Covered in mud and sweaty, I get in my truck and make my way towards my house. I make the short trek to my momma's house by foot. When I walk up, the only thing I can think about is getting Lyndley out for our date. I want to strip her naked more, but I also don’t want to rush things. I want her to know how damn serious I am about us. I want her more than my next breath.

Walking in the door, I walk straight to Lyndley and toss her over my shoulder. “Sorry, Momma, but I have some plans for this girl tonight.”

She giggles at us and says, "Have fun!” I slap Lynd’s ass and walk us towards the door.

Lyndley starts to smack my ass and tells me to put her down. Instead of doing what she wants, I pat her ass a few more times and tell her. “Darlin’, I have plans. Waiting for you to keep up with me is gonna take too long.” She smacks me again and I just laugh harder. I let her slide down my body and it was a damn mistake. I groan when she comes in contact with my cock. “God, Lynd, your body still drives me fucking crazy.”

She moans and all my good intentions fly out the window. Clearing my throat, I try to get a handle on my need to bend her over and fuck her right here. Grabbing her hand, I start to pull her towards my house, but she doesn’t move. "I'm trying to be a gentleman, but it's so fucking hard when all I want to do is strip you down and fuck you."

Instead of waiting for her response, I toss her back on my shoulder and start jogging towards the house. Her screams and giggles fill the air and I couldn’t be fucking happier. I’ve waited a long time to be able to have her in my arms again. She pinches my butt, but I don’t let it phase me. When we get to the house, I set her down on the deck and grab her hand.

"I need to shower before I take you out,” I inform her. Giving her a wink, and start to go inside.

"Okay,” she squeaks out. She starts to follow me towards my room, but before she can even move, I stalk towards her and back her up against the front door. My lips slam down on to hers and my tongue slips into her mouth. Her phone starts to ring, but I don’t give a damn who it is. All I know is that I want my wife.

Picking her up, we make our way down the hall towards the room and Max comes running towards us. He jumps up on me and I almost lose my balance. "Down, Max!” I yell. He stops and follows me where I go, laying on his bed when we get into the room.

I set her sexy ass on the bed and she wraps her legs around my waist. "Come on. I stink,” I groan when she pulls me closer to her. She shakes her head at me and she leans up to kiss me until we are both having trouble breathing.

Leaning over her body, I kiss a trail down her neck and to the tops of her tits. The scruff of my beard runs along her skin leaving her with a small red mark. “Mmm, she moans. She starts to rub against my cock and I suck in a breath. Blowing out a breath, I rest my forehead against hers and pin her down into the mattress.

“Darlin’, I want to do right by you. As much as I want to finish this, I need to show you that you mean more to me than just sex.” If I didn’t stop now, I would have had her naked and under me already. I kiss her nose and she gets a smile on her face.

“Okay. I’ll stop,” she says with a grin. I kiss her once more before I get off of her and the bed, making my way into the bathroom, and shutting the door behind me. Stripping out of my dirty clothes, I start the shower and get in. Letting the warm water coat my skin, I grab the soap and rinse off quickly and then wash my hair. I don’t want to keep her waiting too long.

Shutting the water off, I get out and dry off. Pulling on the pair of jeans I left in here this morning, I run my fingers through my hair before pulling on my t-shirt. Brushing my teeth, I look in the mirror and grin. I’m a lucky son of a bitch to be able to get a second chance with the love of my life.

Making my way out into the room, I see Lyndley petting Max and he’s sitting on the bed. “Max, down,” I say. Max jumps off the bed and takes a seat at my feet. I hear her whisper a “wow” and I can’t help but smile.

“He won’t bite unless you try to hurt me,” I smile. He’s a good boy, but he can be a little protective. Grabbing her hand, I pull her off the bed. “Come on, darlin’. We have plans.”

I lead her out of the room and towards the back door. At first she looks at me with a questioning glare, but I ignore her and keep walking. Her gasp isn’t loud, but I do hear it. Looking at the area in front of us, I see the blanket and the picnic basket that I set out before I went to get her from mommas. We start to walk closer and when I look at her again, she has tears in her eyes. “What do you think, babe?” I whisper in her ear. I wrap my arms around her body and pull her into me. Her eyes land on the calla lily, I know what it represents for us.

I know how much these three items mean to her, that’s why I knew the perfect date to take her on. Our first date was pretty much the same. I took her on a picnic and packed all her favorite foods. We spent some time feeding each other things from the basket and it was truly one of the best dates of my life. The calla lily is what I bought her for her wedding bouquet when we ran off to get married. She swore that she would never get rid of it and I hoped that she didn’t. It is part of us, one of the good pieces.

“It’s perfect, Jax. I can’t believe you did this. How did you remember?”

Turning her in my arms, I smirk at her. “Baby, I could never forget one moment I spent with you. You were everything to me. Now that I know what you went through, I wish I would have gone with you to New York. Hell, I’m kicking myself for it. You have always been my future. I’m never letting you slip through my fingers again.”

Leaning down, I softly place a kiss to her lips. Pulling back slightly, I stare into her eyes for a few seconds before I walk her over to the blanket and offer her a seat. Taking a seat next to her, I sneak a peek at her face and it’s still surprised.

“I must say, I never expected us to be right here, right now.” I grin at that. I dreamt about it, but never actually believed that I would get a second chance at our happily ever after.

“Neither did I. I never thought you’d be able to forgive me for what I did to you,” she mumbles, looking at the ground.

Grabbing her hand, I press a kiss to her knuckles. “Lyndley, I’m hurt and mad, but I could never hate you. You didn't do any of this on purpose. It just happened. I can accept that and move on, carrying her in my heart. I want you to do the same. I love you, and that will never change.” I intertwine our fingers and smile at her. She’s beautiful in every way, I can’t stop staring at her.
