Lorcan lowered his head a laid a gentle kiss on her lips. He cupped her cheek and took it deeper. God above, he never enjoyed snogging so much before. After several minutes he broke the connection, and Julie cuddled in next to him. Together they sat in silence for another half hour and listened to the waves. Lorcan could not recall another time he had felt so ... at peace.

They arrived back at the bakery at eleven. Lorcan leaned in to give her a goodnight kiss, but she clutched his shirt and whispered in his ear, “Come in, for a little while. I want you, Lorcan.”

He moaned and kicked the door to her apartment shut with his foot. They both reached for each other at the same time, their movements fevered, rough, and frenzied. So much for taking things at a slow pace. Clothes flew in all directions. They made their way into the living room hardly breaking the kiss. Julie wore her bra and panties, and him? He tore everything off, feck it. Slowing down might be the smart thing to do, but his bottled up lust spurred him on. His breathing was ragged and uneven as he pulled a condom out of his discarded jeans's pocket. He opened the package and rolled it on his stiff prick as Julie watched him, her cheeks flushed with what he hoped was desire. He laid her flat on the couch, kissing, licking, tasting.

“I can't wait … ” He groaned. Lorcan teetered on the edge of losing control.

“Then don't. Do it. Now.”

Pushing aside her underwear, he nestled his erection at her opening. “Are you sure, darlin'?”

She pushed her hips toward him and impaled herself, and then gasped.

“Are you all right?” he asked worriedly.

Julie placed her hand behind his neck, pulling him down to look at her eye-to-eye. “More. Give me all of it.” He pushed in further, her back arched off the sofa. She cried out and Lorcan hesitated, but she said, “Oh, God, you feel so good.”

Lorcan stayed still for a few moments, not only to let her get used to him, but to savor the sensual sensation of being buried in her soft, wet heat. After a few slow thrusts, he settled into a steady rhythm of long, deep, strokes. So tight. He moaned long and loud. Blood thundered in his veins, urging him on. Julie did not stay still. She enthusiastically encouraged him with each upward push. Sitting up, she fumbled with her bra, then clasped her breast. “Suck it … ” she commanded.

Oh, passionate lass.
He loved it. Lorcan slammed into her and pumped faster while he took her nipple in his mouth. He cupped her arse and tilted her upward, which allowed him to slip in deeper. He was beyond sanity. It seemed both of them craved this wild joining.

Lorcan rested her leg on his hip as he thrust deeper, moaning with each forceful plunge. His head swam; all he could focus on was fucking her, good and hard. Her languid moans of passion urged him on.
More.
He bit down on her nipple and Julie clasped the back of his neck encouraging him to suck harder. He feasted, sucking and licking while he let the unknown sensations move through him. A thin sheen of perspiration covered him from their exertions. Julie clasped his ass and took him deeper into her glorious heat. Her inner muscles clenched his cock, milking it hard.

Julie cried out with her release, and he followed right behind her. He groaned, his teeth clenching with the force of his climax. The sex was over in a matter of minutes. Fast, furious, and fantastic. He pulled back, then touched her swollen area, and gently stroked the red, wet folds. “Does it hurt?”

“God, no … Oh, that feels so good.”

She was ready to come again. So responsive. Lorcan rubbed her sensitive nub between his fingers. “Come for me, love. You want to. Let go … ”

Julie did. After, they lay on the sofa with their limbs tangled for quite a while.

She whispered in his ear. Following her instructions, he sat upright while she knelt at his feet. She leaned in and darted her tongue from between those luscious lips and swirled it across the head of his cock. He hardened immediately. “I've never done this before, Lorcan. Instruct me. I want to taste it … ”

He almost blew apart right there. “Take me in your mouth, suck and lick for all it's worth,” he croaked.

Lorcan clasped the back of her head, holding her steady. After a few tentative licks, Julie found a rhythm. Never had a blowjob felt this good. He undulated his hips in time with her sucking, pulling almost all the way out, and then gently pushing back in.
Pure feckin' heaven.
She created an enormous suction with her warm, willing mouth. His climax built. He was about ready to pull out, but Julie shook her head, gripped him tighter. With a ragged moan, he came. His entire body shook and shuddered at the intensity of his release. Julie sat next to him on the sofa, giving him a stunning smile as she curled up next to him.

“Is it always this good?” Julie murmured at last.

“No, not always. The good news? It's only going to get better.”

That thought was as worrying as it was astounding.
Aye, it's never been this good.
Not once with any of those thirty-nine women.

Ever.

Chapter Fifteen

The rest of September passed quickly as Lorcan and Julie settled into a comfortable “friendship with benefits” sort of thing. They spent every Sunday together. The day consisted of sex, talk, and movies on DVD. The talk, however, remained in generalities. Julie didn't push. The rest of the week they were both busy with their jobs, but they managed to squeeze in a late-night phone call or two, and one of them turned erotic. Julie never had phone sex before, and Lorcan was nothing if not honest in what he wanted her to do or what he was doing to himself. Hot, naughty, and wicked.

Two weeks ago, Julie had made her first cakes. It had taken a bit of planning, finding just the right pans, and acquiring the ingredients at the lowest price to maximize profit. They had ultimately decided to charge twenty-seven dollars a cake. Ronnie had even bought a couple of glass cake domes and stands. It gave the bakery counter an attractive look. Julie nervously eyeballed every customer that came through the door, waiting for someone,
anyone
to buy a cake. The strawberry marshmallow and lemon blueberry sold by the end of the day.

“Make a few more, the same flavors until we use up the ingredients, then we can try a couple of different flavors,” Ronnie had suggested.

With Ronnie's young cousin, Linda, working a few hours every afternoon, it gave Julie time to prepare the cakes for the next day. She didn't add the icing to them until they were ready to be displayed and sold. She had a no-fail buttercream frosting that was cheap, easy to prepare, and tasty. In addition to her extra responsibilities, Ronnie started to include her in more decisions regarding the bakery, like designing the matching aprons they would all wear.

In addition to these new and exciting developments with her job, she also found joy and satisfaction in her relationship with Lorcan. With each passing week she cared for him more and more, and as hard as she tried to keep Lorcan away from her heart, he managed to crawl closer to the most vulnerable part of her.

Her sexual confidence grew as the weeks passed. She was smugly pleased she had managed to move past most of her self-doubts. Never had she enjoyed herself so thoroughly, not only in bed, but by being in his company. She'd surprised herself at their frantic first bout of sex. She had let all her reticence go and it had felt so freeing.

Beyond Lorcan's handsome, stunning looks and the outward Irish charm, stood an intelligent, considerate, and caring man. He had an innate sweetness that melted her insides like a pat of butter in a cast iron skillet. But no one was perfect, and Lorcan was far from perfection. He still kept a part of himself back from her. She tried to puzzle out what could be in his past. An unfortunate episode to do with one of his varied occupations? It seemed he kept people, even family and friends, at a distance.

One way to find out would be to ask his friend, Sully, probing questions about Lorcan's past. Besides the time Sully helped her move, they had gone out to dinner with him once. The imposing-looking man actually warmed up a bit, and Julie found she liked him. He didn't possess Lorcan's easy magnetism, but had rugged and appealing qualities all his own. Julie had sensed he possessed that “heart of gold” Lorcan spoke of.

Could Sully cast any light on why Lorcan had barriers up? Sully apparently saw a change in Lorcan, according to Lorcan himself. Anyway, she doubted Sully would betray any confidence so that was a dead end. Trying to pry it out of Lorcan would be a dangerous proposition. He'd get up and walk out, maybe permanently. She didn't want another incident where he “left in a snit” as he called it. Not by a long shot.

At times, she sensed he also held back sexually. He had unlocked such deep, wanton urges in her, urges she'd been shocked and pleased to discover. Did he hold back because of her lack of experience? The sex was incredible. Each time lowered her inhibitions, and she had no more embarrassment about being naked around him. It had taken some doing, and Lorcan had been patient and coaxing until she stood before him completely nude for his admiring gaze.

Julie wanted to try more. What exactly, she wasn't sure. She'd gone to a bookstore and bought three erotic romance novels.
Oh yeah, more to try.
Bondage? Blindfolds? Role-playing? Food sex? How she wanted to explore these options, but only with Lorcan. To her mind, a lot of trust had to exist between couples before trying any sex games.

She glanced at the clock. Lorcan would arrive soon to spend another Sunday. On the agenda today? Watching the DVD extended version of
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.
Lorcan had never seen it all the way through, being overseas in the army when it came out. He said he saw part of it on television a while back, but never saw the extended cut which in Julie's mind stood as a cinematic masterpiece. They had decided to watch one for the next three Sundays. They'd already seen the first Hobbit film three nights ago. A local theater was showing it in anticipation for the second film's release in December. Julie made Lorcan promise he'd take her to see it. It seemed an unspoken “given” now that they would still be seeing each other then.

Today, she'd actually rolled up her sleeves and prepared a meal. Usually they bought take-out or went to a restaurant, but Julie had a casserole ready to pop in the oven, one of her father's recipes. She'd bought fresh rolls from the bakery and made a salad which Lorcan seemed to like. She squirmed, grabbing the back of her pants. For the first time ever she wore a red lace thong. Uncomfortable as hell. This Sunday would be different in so many ways. She'd make sure of it.

Lorcan drove toward the bakery, classical music playing softly in the background. It was a typical late summer-early fall day with a slightly overcast sky. The possibility of a shower loomed in the clouds and was accompanied by a decided coolness in the air. A few leaves had already turned gold. Lorcan looked forward to observing the changes in the seasons. He would be here for autumn and part of winter. He hoped he would see actual snow. It had been awhile.

He'd no idea what he would do when he returned to Ireland. Start his own security firm? Lorcan had enough money to do so. He had saved more than he let on to anyone. The couple of years he hired himself out as a driver or transporter had been lucrative. Would there be enough work in Ireland to keep him busy? Aye, he could hire trustworthy people and have them travel around the world, while he stayed in Ireland—his base of operations. Next April he'd be thirty-three. He'd grown tired of wandering. He wanted … to go home.

Lorcan sighed as he braked for the red light. Glancing out his driver's side window, he saw a young couple walking hand-in-hand down the sidewalk, oblivious to everyone and everything around them. He smiled slightly. Love could be elusive. He may never find it, not that he was looking any longer. Maybe he was old-fashioned wanting what his mother and da had. Long term love, desire, and friendship—right to the grave. But since his stint in the army five years ago, he had all but given up on any such scenario. He wasn't the same man.

A horn blasted behind him, the light turned green and he hadn't noticed. He hit the accelerator and drove forward. And Julie? He exhaled as he turned into the bakery parking lot. He held back there. He kept the sex at a certain level, because he felt—shite, he knew—if things became more intense, it might lead to much more. Things he did not want to feel.
Would that be such a bad thing, mate?
He wasn't sure of anything anymore. When he first decided to see Julie, he was confident he could keep things casual, enjoy the sex, get together once a week, then they would part and move on with their lives. Right. Sure. He was one fecked-up mess of a man.

Julie opened the door and greeted him warmly. She threw her arms around his neck and laid soft kisses along his jawline. After seeing to his jacket, she led him to the sofa. She handed him a can of Kilkenny and had one for herself.

She snuggled in close and reached for the remote. “We'd better get started as this is almost four hours long.” Lorcan took a sip of beer and put his arm around Julie, bringing her in close. “I made supper too, my father's recipe,” she whispered. Bleedin' hell, he could get used to this.

Some hours later, as Boromir lay dying pierced with a dozen or so arrows and as Aragorn cried copious tears over him, Julie lost it. She sobbed uncontrollably. Lorcan stroked her arm in comfort. Damn, he choked up himself. He reached for the box of facial tissue and handed it to her.

“Th … thanks. I do this every time, no matter how many times I see it.” She blew her nose noisily. She wiped away her tears as Enya's crystal clear voice sang over the closing credits.

Lorcan hugged her close and kissed her forehead. “My poor, sensitive darlin'.”

“Did you like it?” Julie sniffled, her hand caressing his chest.
