Hershey's Kiss: A BWWM Pregnancy Romance Novel (7 page)

Jeanette said sweetly, “That sounds like a brilliant idea, Hershey. Gee, Brandon, I think you picked a winner. Are you ready to go see dinosaurs at the museum, Jason?”

Jason nodded his head and jumped for joy. The deal was sealed, and Jeanette died a little bit inside.

CHAPTER 5

When he called headquarters to notify them that he was cancelling all of his appointments for the day, everybody thought he was on drugs, and in a way he was. Watching Hershey run circles around Jeanette felt better than any drug he’d ever consumed in his life. It was about time for a little vacation anyways. Brandon got a perverse sense of pleasure knowing that Jeanette just had her ass handed to her, however, we wasn’t quite ready to admit to himself that he enjoyed his wife’s pain. Brandon had a second motive for cancelling his appointments. He was deeply intrigued by Hershey, and he wanted to know more…

Jeanette was out at the museum with Jason, having a predictably horrible time. She only ever enjoyed herself when she was seducing or manipulating someone, or taking drugs. Seeing that she wasn’t doing any of those at the moment, and that she’d been stuck with a rugrat all day, she was as angry as a raging bull. With her out of the house, Brandon had free reign to investigate this black beauty. Around ten o’clock, he stuck his head in Hershey’s quarters to see how she was doing…

“A mess, actually…” she confessed while unpacking her bags.

“Really?” Brandon said. “You seemed like such a pro this morning.”

Brandon was taken aback by her frankness. Was she just a basket case who got lucky this morning, or was she cool and confident around her billionaire boss? Brandon guessed the latter, and was further impressed. Most of the people turn into two-faced liars when they meet a billionaire. They never bring bad news for fear of losing their seat next to the throne. Brandon waited to see what she’d say next. Would she be driven and solution-oriented? Or would her bad news come with excuses and forecasts of failure…

“Sure, that was nothing.” Hershey said. “But I’ve got a million things to get for Jason if we’re going to make the progress that I’d like. For starters, we’re going to have to change the color of his room to something more neutral. This color scheme only irritates him, and we don’t want that. Likewise for the furniture. Adults tend to forget that kids are little people, and they need little things. This giant desk and chair won’t do. Jason might be destined to succeed you as CEO of Boulder Corp, but that’s not today. Also, we’re going to need the right books. He’ll learn much faster if he follows my reading list…”

Wow!
Brandon thought.
If only I could have seven more executives like Hershey.
Brandon could see that the before him was a winner, plain and simple. She took nobody’s shit, and when it was time to take action, she charged in with guns ablazing. This was the type of person he wanted to stand behind… and lie next to. Who wouldn’t want to help someone who was so helpable?

“Can you give me a list? I can have my people grab those items for you right away.”

“Actually, no I can’t. I’ll have to get everything myself. Nobody will do a better job than me.”

“I bet.” Brandon said, thinking naughty thoughts while he said it. “What do you say we go get those items together?”

Hershey halted her frantic unpacking and looked up at Brandon for the first time.

“That’s really not necessary, Mr. Boulder-”

“Call me Brandon.”

“That’s really not necessary, Mr. Boulder. I can drive just fine.”

“I’m sure of it… You can think of me as your lowly chauffeur.” Brandon smiled and winked while delivering his punchline.

“Suit yourself, Mr. Boulder.” Hershey said while resuming her frantic unpacking.

Hershey didn’t understand what her boss was getting at here. She didn’t mind having him along but… she felt a little uncomfortable. From the moment she’d set foot in Boulder Manor and she’d made eye contact with Brandon, Hershey had felt something. She didn’t know what she’d felt or what it meant, but she didn’t want to give herself any opportunities to cross any boundaries.

This was business. And she knew what happened (from experience) when you mixed business and pleasure. Sure, Brandon Boulder was one of the hottest men she’d ever seen. Sure, he was ambitious and she could tell he loved his son. But this was no time for her to forget her values and principles. Hershey wasn’t going to let her loneliness and desperation for a good man break her on the first day of a new job. But Brandon seemed different from most other guys, and Hershey had to admit she felt just a little desperate to understand him on a more personal level. No smokes and mirrors. Just him.

After several hours of shopping, Hershey had racked up a small mountain’s worth of goodies for Brandon. She had three shopping bags in each hand, and now that she’d just purchased a bite-sized office chair for Jason, she had that lodged under her arm, too. Brandon offered to carry the bags earlier and Hershey refused him flatly. Now, with a piece of furniture under her arms, Hershey’s graceful sashay was beginning to degrade into a waddle. Brandon offered to take the chair…

“No.” Hershey said. “I’ll carry. This isn’t a date, Mr. Boulder”

Ouch.
Brandon thought.

Hershey waddled up the store’s aisle which Brandon’s hands dangled loosely. He felt awkward about not being a gentleman and taking charge, and when people walked by them, he scratched the back of his neck and looked at his shoes nervously. In spite of Hershey’s stubbornness, Brandon was always vigilant for ways that he could help. He respected her desire for independence, but all the same, he would protect her in whatever capacity that she allowed.

Hershey was quite lucky for that. As she waddled up the aisle with too many bags and a chair underneath her arm, she didn’t see the puddle of water on the floor in front of her. One step on it, and her feet were swept up from underneath her. Brandon saw the fall happening in slow motion, and he reacted with lightning reflexes. He plucked the chair from under Hershey’s arm and cupped it in his armpit. Then, with a lifetime’s worth of milliseconds to go, Brandon caught Hershey in midair with his free arm. He broke her fall barely a foot from the ground.

“I got you.” Brandon said confidently and charmingly.

Half-surprised that she didn’t crack her skull open, and somewhat dazed and confused by the violent shakeup, Hershey hadn’t realized that she was groping Brandon’s chest with one hand, and his famous hip flexors with the other. When she became aware of it, she blushed profusely. Brandon tried to pretend like she hadn’t just touched him, but he also released an involuntary blush which made the silence more awkward.

Whilst Brandon was  getting caught up in Hershey’s fall and rogue hands, Hershey herself was distracted. She became aware of Brandon’s smell for the first time. Her sharp smell detected two smells, actually. There was the cold smell of cologne which, by itself, revealed volumes of information about him. Only extremely rich men get to wear the way Brandon did. It was a unique smell, which was probably crafted a master perfumer -- one of left in the world -- inside of a pressurized laboratory at the bottom of the ocean somewhere. The refreshing scent swiveled around Brandon’s neck three times, then flowed into Hershey’s nostrils to intoxicate her olfactory receptors. Underneath his cologne was the subdued smell of a caveman. A neanderthal who’d been locked in a cage for too long. This smell intoxicated her, too. Hershey suddenly became aware of the warmth and moisture between her legs. Her pussy responded in kind to this knight in shining armor with a slick layer of lubrication.

Hershey rolled out of Brandon’s burly arms and stood up on her own feet. She looked at the puddle that she’d just stepped in, and the cogs in her brain whirred as she processed the disaster that had almost occurred.

“Thank you.” she said, looking into his directly into his eyes. Hershey placed her hand on Brandon’s chest again, and her eyes softened even more. “Thank you, Brandon.”

Brandon picked up the chair and a few bags, and they walked back to the car. As they drove home, Brandon shot an email to his assistant: Get my legal team together. Sue the living shit out of that store. Make sure the owners have so many legal judgements against them that they don’t wipe their asses without thinking about the cost.

It was spontaneous, but all of a sudden Brandon realized that he couldn’t tolerate the idea of anyone hurting Hershey. There was just something about her that suggested to him that they belonged together in some capacity or another.
I’m happily married.
Brandon thought to himself, trying his hardest to keep his head on straight. By now, he most certainly knew that was a lie.

After all shopping was done, Brandon and Hershey decided to get a bite to eat before they went back home. Almost cracking one’s skull on the floor of a department store tends to work up an appetite. Brandon drove his red Maserati to the parking lot of a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. Hershey looked up at the side of the store and back to Brandon and felt utterly confused. she flashed back to all the white people that she’d ever seen her life. She even thought about obscure interfaces from her early childhood… But she’d never, ever, seen one of them eat in a place like this.

“And… what… are… we… doing here?

“Getting lunch, of course!” Brandon said. “This is one of the only places in town that I can grab a bite to eat without getting paparazzi on my ass… And the chicken’s great!”

“I pegged you for a caviar-eating guy.” She said, laughing.

The two went inside, and got a booth near the corner. Brandon took his seat first, with his back to the room. Hershey followed, except Brandon was shocked to discover that she sat right next to him, thigh to thigh. Both Hershey and Brandon were fully aware that flesh had made contact, and now the worst would inevitably happen. The more Hershey struggled to push this pussy broiling tease into the background, the more obnoxiously conspicuous it became. It was hopeless, and she pushed their watercooler chat on in despair…

“What are you getting?” Hershey asked with slightly vacant stare.

“Same thing I always get. The regular with 2 pints of maple syrup.”

Hershey’s jaw dropped open. The man she was looking at didn’t eat Roscoe’s chicken… and he didn’t get two pints of syrup. This white boy looked like a UFC fighter! How could he look so good while eating so much junk?

“How can you look like
this,
and eat like
that?”

“Who? Me? How do I keep this tummy flat? Good sex drive.” he said with a cheeky grin and a wink.

Brandon and Hershey had eaten their bellies full. While doing so, there were gut-wrenching, maniacal, knee-slapping laughs. Stories were told. Random commonalities and coincidences were discovered. Secrets were shared. Feelings were revealed. By the time Hershey and Brandon drove home, they felt like being known each other years… Perhaps all their lives. It was one of these accidental first dates that changes you unintentionally. You meet that person and you realize
somehow
you’ll be in each other’s lives for a long time. You just can’t avoid it. There’s too much in common. You’re too compatible for this to simply be chance.

And ever since Hershey had scooched up to Brandon and their thighs had touched for the first time,  so long as they were in the same room together, they were caressing each other, somehow, somewhere, someway...Forever. It could have been two pinky fingers pressed together when nobody could see, or if they couldn’t touch each other without being seen, they would sync up their breathing and imagine their hearts beating in unison.

Brandon escorted Hershey back to her quarters with all of the items he purchased. Perhaps he wanted to ensure that there wasn’t another mishap like the one that the store. Or, maybe it was more… Once at Hershey’s quarters, all the bags in the chair were set down, and there was nothing left standing between Hershey and Brandon making physical contact with each other. Nothing, except their clothes. Hershey was trying her hardest to ignore the tension.
Come on Hershey, it’s your first day.
She tried to talk herself down.

Brandon and Hershey stood before each other in their living room. Brandon reached out and held Hershey by the hands; he stared longingly into her eyes. Hershey reciprocated the same look. This was the last stand. Any final defense would be fought. Was Hershey ready for the romantic ride of her life? She knew if this went any further, it would be absolutely crazy.
This is so wrong.
She thought to herself. It would be either surrender, or total annihilation.  Brandon, being a well honed leader as he was, charged forward with the first attack.  He was an alpha male in every aspect of his life; you could count on him to do that. He leaned his head forward toward hers, so that they could exchange a soft, luscious kiss. Would their lips make contact? NO! They wouldn’t. Hershey turned her mouth away at the last minute, and Brandon’s lips crash landed near her ear.
