Gone (Sons of Judah MC Book 1) (5 page)

Chapter Five

The man was insane. Or perhaps he was a cad, a rogue, a joker, or maybe a scoundrel. He turned her down. She still couldn’t believe it; he didn’t take her up on the offer of sex. It was a good thing, of course, that he kept his word, but really, she wasn’t sure if she should be flattered or insulted.

On one hand, he didn’t want to have sex with her.

On the other hand, he made a promise and stuck to it.

Whatever. She wasn’t going to think about it.

Stacy sat in her office as she finished her work. Although she loved her job and enjoyed it, she simply couldn’t concentrate today. It was impossible to think and to focus on her tasks. She opened a file on her laptop, and then closed it when she couldn’t remember why she’d opened it in the first place. Damn that guy. He stole her peace of mind. Ever since their last date two days ago, she’d barely done anything else except think about him.

It would’ve been better if she’d gotten him out of his system, but by turning her down, he intrigued her. Maybe that was his intention. If so, he was a clever man.

No. She wasn’t going to waste her time in trying to figure out what he meant when he didn’t sleep with her. Stacy closed the laptop. If she wanted to have some sanity, she needed to figure this out. Stacy bit her bottom lip as she contemplated her move.

She shouldn’t do it.

She needed to do it.

She stood, picked up her purse, and strode out. “Jen, I am taking my lunch break.”

“Sure, see you,” said her secretary.

It was work time. She shouldn’t go too far from the office, but she did recall that the warehouse that served as the Sons of Judah’s base wasn’t far from her hotel. A short metro ride, and she would be there. Of course, she shouldn’t go there.

Stacy was determined to do this.

She needed some answers, and the sooner she got them, the quicker she could forget him. Twenty minutes later, she stood in front of the warehouse. The two men who stood at the door intimidated her. They were big and burly. One of them was bald and had a tattoo on his head. The other one looked as if he could punch a wall and break it in one go. As she stood there, Stacy wanted to run away. Rather than give in to that urge, she straightened her shoulders and walked towards the door. Seeing her, the men looked at each other. One of them stood.

“Are you lost?”

“No, I am not,” she said with as much dignity as she could muster. “I’m looking for Marco. Is he here?”

One man looked at the other and then shrugged and said, “Come inside. I will call him.”

Walking into the den of a biker’s club that was definitely involved in some illegal activities wasn’t the best move she ever made. But then neither was dating Marco or even marrying Ned. Perhaps she might lead a happier life if she chose to make sensible decisions, but that ship had already sailed. She wanted to see Marco, and that was just the end of it. “Sure.”

The man opened the door. She took a deep breath to bolster her courage and walked in. Inside, she’d expected to see dim, dingy rooms and unkempt men, but she was pleasantly surprised to see a reception area behind which sat a girl who was inspecting her fingernails. Her hair was dyed a bright shade of yellow. “Suzy, call Marco. There is someone here to see him.” Suzy inspected Stacy from top to bottom. She curled her lips and then picked up the phone. “You can sit there and wait for him.”

Stacy glanced at the couch that was lined against the wall. It was beige in color and quite clean. She sat. A few minutes later, he came out. “Who’s here?”

The sight of him filled her with trepidation. She’d no idea what to expect. Would he be angry she came here? Would he be happy? The man who ushered her inside pointed at her and then turned and walked out of the door. She stared at Marco. In the blue jeans and the white t-shirt, he looked devilishly handsome. Her mouth salivated at the sight of him.

“Hi.”

He gaped at her. “What are you doing here?”

Ok. So maybe this wasn’t a good idea. But damn him. The man left her at the door of her apartment and then never called her. What the hell was going on? She needed answers. “I came to see you. We need to talk.”

“Oh oh!” said Suzy. They both turned to look at her. “When a woman says that, it’s never good news. Are you pregnant? Marco, you devil.”

“Shut up, Suzy.” In one quick move, he walked over and grabbed her hand. “Come with me.” He led her inside the warehouse, which appeared to have been divided into different rooms and offices. He took her through narrow corridors, until they reached a black, unmarked door. After opening it, he tugged her hand and drew her in. “What are you doing here?”

She gazed at the sturdy desk against the far wall. “You work here?”

“Yes, this is my office. Now, what are you doing here?”

She came all this way to have a war of words with him, but now she was confused, agitated. Should she confront him? It would make her look foolish, needy. And yet, she wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery that was driving her insane. “I didn’t think your work was the sort for which you needed to sit behind a desk.”

“I do have other jobs. It’s not just about visiting people and enforcing our rules; I also look at aspects of the supply chain and distribution channels.”

She’d no idea what he was talking about. It was impossible to focus when he stood so close to her. The scent of him reached her nostrils and made desire glide in her veins. Stacy ran her hands nervously over her skirt as tried to gather her thoughts. “That’s great, wonderful.”

He grabbed her arm, turned her around, and looked at her straight in the eye. “Stacy, focus. What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to know why you didn’t sleep with me the other night.”

His eyes widened. “You came here to ask me why I didn’t…woman, are you crazy?”

“If I am, it’s all because of you.” All the nervousness and worrying turned into a giant cocktail of temper that exploded inside her. “You’re the one who left me high and dry at the door. What kind of a man takes a woman out and then turns her down when she offers to sleep with him? Let me tell you that before I met you, I was sensible, I was smart, and I was always, always in control—and now look at me.” She freed her arm from his grasp and took a step back. “Look at me. I’ve turned into this crazy, obsessed woman who stalked you through the city just to know why I wasn’t good enough for you. This is what you’ve made me into, and I fucking hate it.”

For a moment he simply stared at her. “I turned you down because…I made a promise and I wanted to keep it.”

“You didn’t want me,” she accused.

“Hell! I’ve not stopped wanting you from the moment I laid my eyes on you…”

“Liar. If that was so, you wouldn’t have walked away that night.” She took a deep breath. “It’s fine, really. We are both extremely unsuited for each other. This kind of life…” She waved her hands around. “It’s not what I am used to, and you’re never going to be happy with someone like me. I shouldn’t have come here.” The horror of what she was doing struck her all at once. Her hands became cold and numb. She needed to get out of this place. It was stupid of her to come here. Of course he didn’t want her. It was a mistake that he made love to her the first time, and it was something they both needed to avoid. If anything, he saved her from a giant mistake. “I should just go.”

His hand on her arm stopped her before she could reach the door. “You think I don’t want you?”

“Look, its fine really. You did the sensible thing. I was the one going mad. Too much to drink, you know.” She attempted a smile but failed. “I need to leave now.”

He made her turn around. “You think I don’t want you?”

She stared into his eyes. Suddenly, she couldn’t breathe. Why-oh-why did she come here? She could only plead temporary insanity in her defense. “It…looks like that.”

“I want you more than any other woman I ever desired,” he admitted in a voice that hoarse with emotion. As she gazed into his eyes, Stacy could see the honesty of his claim. He meant what he said. While most men would have used this line to secure a romp in the bed, she could see that he didn’t have that purpose in mind. “And the only reason why I turned you down is because when we make love, I want you to remember each and every moment. When I run my hands on your beautiful body, I want you to anticipate each move and relish it.” He brushed a lock of her hair away from her face. “And when I kiss you, I need you to enjoy it.”

She licked her bottom lip.  “I enjoy kissing you.”

“You do? Then prove it to me.”

She blinked her eyes in confusion. “Right here? Now?”

He nodded. Stacy raised her chin. He didn’t move a muscle. It was crazy to take him up on that offer when they were in the warehouse. Anyone could come in. As if he read her thoughts, he reached forward and locked the door. She gulped. The man sure meant what he said.

What the hell!

She came this far, and she wasn’t about to go back empty-handed. Stacy rose up on her toes and put her arms around his neck. Her lips claimed his, and the heat and the punch of lust was much more than what she anticipated. Her tongue danced with his while her insides turned to jelly, and she melted in his arms. His arms snaked around her waist as he held her close. Her breasts pushed hard against his chest, and her mouth clung to his, hot and demanding. When her fingers speared through his hair, the desire that skipped through her veins exploded with a ferocity that left her breathless.

His fingers settled on her butt, and through the delicate panties, she felt the brush of them, the heat, and the warmth. Desire flooded her veins. She pressed harder against him, and his cock brushed into her. He was already hard. Realizing that he was as needy as her turned the passion into an untamed storm. Her tongue lashed with his. He glided his hands up and fiddled with zipper of her dress.

There was no reason, no sanity left.

What she wanted, she was going to take—and to hell with the consequences.

She shrugged out of her dress. It pooled at her feet, and she stepped out of it. This was insane. It was crazy. She didn’t come here for this, but now that they were doing it, she simply couldn’t stop. It was impossible to do so. His hands settled on her butt once more, and he squeezed her flesh. His fingers dug into her skin and made her desire even more potent.

When she tried to step away, he didn’t allow her to do so. Stacy glanced into his eyes and the need that throbbed within their depths matched that which burned within her. Still, she wasn’t sure if this was the right move.

They shouldn’t.

They must.

Before she could say anything, he pulled down her panties. Knowing that she didn’t have a choice, she stepped out of them. Her pussy was moist, ready. His hands cupped her butt, and he picked her up. Before she could understand his intention, he walked over and put her naked butt on the desk. The wood was cold and smooth against her skin.

“You drive me crazy,” he said.

She licked her bottom lip. “I do?”

“Oh yes, you do.” He pushed her down on the desk, and before she could gather her thoughts, he sat with his knees on the floor. Bending his head, he pressed his tongue against her pussy. The waves of desire that swept through her were strong, powerful. With her hands she clenched the hard edges of the desk. He raised her legs and held them. Her pussy lay open before him, a feast for his delight. When he licked the lips of it, she shivered with need.

Desire was a terrible, hot storm within her nerves.

His tongue kissed, caressed, fondled, and tasted while she jerked under him. Every cell in her body craved the blissful release that would free her from this sweet torture. His tongue swept over her, and she was helpless in his expert care. When his tongue pushed hard on the nub that was the center of her desire, she burst into an orgasm. The intensity of it took her by surprise. Every cell in her body ignited with need. It was fierce, shocking.
