Genesis (39 page)

“Home! We can go home! You have to tell them we want to go home!”

It was like a chant … all in English. But the Hirachi understood. She saw they did.

She had to wonder what thoughts were running through their minds. Were they as desperate to return home? Did they just not want to voice their own wishes because they didn’t want the women to feel as if they cared more about getting back to the lives they’d left than being with them?

The aliens weren’t likely to grant that request, she realized, not for all of them anyway. The negotiations were for the
jasumi
. They couldn’t harvest it for themselves. Hugging Cory to her, she called for quiet until they finally settled down. She saw that most of the women were looking at her resentfully, though.

“These aliens are working out a trade agreement,” she pointed out. “They might be willing to take some of us home, but they’re not going to be willing to take everyone. Whether you like it or not, some will have to stay to harvest. Otherwise, there will be no deal with any of us.”

Dansk and Kole exchanged a long look. Finally, Dansk nodded. “Dansk and I will stay,” Kole said. He hesitated for a moment more. “So that you can go home.”

Tears welled in Bri’s eyes. She stared at his face until she couldn’t even focus for the stinging tears. Home! Her heart soared momentarily at the wonderful word and all it meant to her mind.

It meant comfortable surroundings, being clean--going to the grocery store for food, driving in her car, hearing English every where she went--seeing everything that was familiar and nothing that was unfamiliar.

It meant leaving Cory.

It meant leaving Dansk and Kole.

It meant risking the life of the child she and Kole had made together.

Sniffing, she wiped her eyes with her hand. “We have a saying on Earth--Home is where the heart is.” She reached for Kole’s hand and settled it on her belly. “I love you, and the baby we made together. I love Cory … And I love Dansk. My heart’s here. My home is with you.”

Chapter Twenty Five

Bri sighed blissfully and relaxed limply against the mattress--a real, honest to god, almost like home mattress--drifting lazily in the aftermath of release. She’d already begun to glide toward sleep when she felt something hot and moist close over her toes, felt the tickle of a tongue. Uttering a giggle, she snatched at her leg but Dansk held it in an iron grip, sucking at her toes until her belly began to flutter and clench with anticipation.

A moan replaced the chuckles.

Beside her, Kole shifted, bending his head to nuzzle her breasts lazily and finally sucked a sensitive tip into his mouth, nipping it lightly with the edge of his teeth and then sucking the sting away.

She moved restlessly beneath the two, feeling wonderfully decadent to have both of them in bed with her. They’d long since given up whatever reservations they’d had at the idea, though, yielding finally to her determination to have both of them in her bed … at least occasionally.

She’d lied outrageously. Insisting it was an Earth custom.

What did they know?

Maybe they suspected she made up the rules as she went along, but she hadn’t heard any objections.

And, despite the fact that the Hirachi were generally very nomadic about lovers, the men and the women changing partners as often as they liked except during mating season, they hadn’t shown any inclination to wander.

Of course, some of that was due to the fact that the women had all the power on the world they’d decided to name Earth--so imaginative!--because the Hirachi outnumbered the Earth women almost five to one--and they weren’t ‘in’ to same sex relationships.

A demanding cry interrupted, just when things were starting to get really interesting. Bri, Kole, and Dansk all froze. Lifting their heads, the three of them listened for a second demand. It came--in chorus!

Damn it, Bri thought irritably! Kyle had woken Cory!

“Your turn,” Dansk said, daring Kole to dispute it.

Kole glared back at him for a moment and finally, uttering a long suffering huff of irritation, rolled out of the bed and padded across the stone floor to her bedroom door. When he opened it, the chorus sounded louder, the baby’s mewling newborn cries almost drowned out by Cory’s more hearty wails.

The door closed again and a few moments later the cries ceased abruptly.

Bri relaxed and looked down at Dansk questioningly.

He was still poised over her right knee. He returned her look with one of slumberous intent. Grabbing her legs just above the knees and hooking them over his shoulders, he dove at her. She flinched, but as he buried his face against her mound and dragged his tongue along her cleft, a shaky gasp was torn from her.

“I can’t!” she gasped, grabbing two handfuls of his hair. “I swear it, Dansk!”

He lifted his head enough to peer up at her, teasing her clit with his tongue. “Yes, you can!”

“I came twice already!” she complained almost petulantly.

“For Kole,” he reminded her.

The statement distracted her.
Was
it Kole both times?

His tongue totally drove the ability to think from her mind after a handful of moments, however. She ceased to tug at his hair and dug her fingers into the sheets instead, writhing and groaning beneath him as she felt her body, contrary to her expectations, or her wishes, climbing toward climax again.

He stopped just as the tremors began, shifting upwards.

She caught a glimpse of a dimple as she pried her eyelids up, but before she could fully grasp what that implied, he drove into her. She groaned, lifting to meet him, clinging to him as she felt his shaft inch deeper inside of her with each thrust until he’d claimed her fully and she could feel his hard flesh gliding along the length of her channel with each stroke, teasing her g-spot until rapture exploded inside of her, touching off Dansk’s climax.

Spent, they curled lazily together as their pulses evened out again. “I saw that smile,” Bri said finally.

“What smile?”

Dansk was grinning unrepentantly when she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. “Liar,” she muttered without heat.

He stroked her cheek. When she opened her eyes to look at him questioningly, he smiled. “I love you, Earth woman.”

Bri’s throat closed with emotion. She didn’t doubt it for one moment. It still made her feel like crying that he and Kole had been willing to give up the chance to go home to give it to her. She was glad things had happened the way they had, because she might have wondered if not for that--They might have doubted that she cared for them as much as she did if she hadn’t had that moment in time to give the gift of knowing it didn’t matter to her as much as staying with them.

As it turned out, no one could go home. The Vernamin, the aliens who’d rescued them from the Sheloni, had no idea, so they claimed, of the whereabouts of the home world of either the Hirachi or the Earthlings. She wasn’t certain she believed that, and it was for damned sure none of the other Earth women did, but they’d had no choice about staying.

She couldn’t say she blamed them for being angry about it. Beyond the trials of establishing civilization on a world that had none, some of them had families they loved and wanted to go back to. She loved Kole and Dansk, or she might not have been able to understand that. She’d still felt ashamed of her own people. The Hirachi, noble creatures that they were, had offered to stay if that was what it took to free the Earth women--and a lot of them had very willingly taken them up on the offer.

Not all. Nearly a third of the women, although they’d clearly hated the idea of staying on New Earth, had cared enough for the men they were with to agree to stay.

Everyone’s outlook had improved immensely, though, when they discovered just how valuable the
jasumi
was to the Vernamin. They hadn’t had to wait weeks, months, or years for the reward. To show good faith, the Vernamin had delivered comfortable, if temporary, shelters for them and the tools they needed to build.

New Earth was still a raw frontier, but the hard times they’d endured had made them humble. Every little advance they made in convenience and comfort was a cause for rejoicing, the simplest things--like outhouses and later real plumbing--appreciated and enjoyed as much as it would’ve been if they’d won the lottery back home--maybe more.

And both the Hirachi and the Earth women were as proud as they could possibly be of the new race they’d created together.

Bri rolled onto her side and studied Dansk’s face with love. “I love you more, you gorgeous hunk of Hirachi male, you!”

Kole entered the room on the heels of that declaration. He studied the two of them for a long moment and finally crossed the room and slipped into bed behind her. Hooking an arm around her waist, he dragged her back until his cock was nestled between the cheeks of her ass.

“They’re asleep,” he murmured, nibbling a trail along her shoulder.

“All of them?” Bri asked in surprise.

“Zoe didn’t wake up. She sleeps like you do,” he murmured, amusement threading his voice.

“Not for the same reason, though,” Bri pointed out. “She doesn’t have two men fucking her into oblivion.”

“Give her time,” Kole responded with a chuckle. “She’s only three. But if she’s as beautiful as her mother, she’s bound to have her pick when her time comes.”

Bri twisted her head to look back at Kole. “Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to have both of you in here at once.”

Kole’s eyes gleamed with amusement. “You said it was an Earth custom.”

Bri couldn’t help but look a little conscience stricken. “About that ….”

Kole laughed, rolling her over so that she was beneath him, staring up at his face. “You love him more?” he demanded, nudging his chin in Dansk’s direction.

“No! Of course not! But ….”

“I’m not a gorgeous hunk of Hirachi male?”

“Kole!”

He lifted his brows, but finally relented. Dipping his head, he kissed her lightly on the lips. “Go to sleep,” he ordered, settling on his side and tucking her against his chest. She snuggled, stifling a yawn, but finally glanced back at Dansk and wiggled her butt at him provocatively. He grinned, slapping one ass cheek. “Stop it! I’m tired.”

Chuckling, she returned her attention to Kole, tipping her head to kiss the underside of his jaw. “I love you!”

“You gorgeous hunk of Hirachi male,” Kole prompted.

Bri sighed blissfully. “Yes, you are.”
