Rosetta.

She was here. To see me.

Amazing.

She smiled. Shy.

Then she pointed at her T-shirt. Written across the front in thick marker were the words
SETH ROCKS
.

I couldn’t help it; I laughed.

She laughed too.

And somehow, that’s the moment I knew I would live
through this. I was going to perform these songs. I was going to kick ass. For her.

And for me.

My heartbeat slowed. Not much, but enough. And now I could breathe again too.

I held Rosetta’s gaze. Behind me, Xander hit his sticks together to count off the first song. “One! Two! Three! Four!”

And then . . . I started to play.
