Feel (Sense Series Book 1) (2 page)

“No talking, just feeling,” I said.

A confused look spread across his face but his eyes rolled to the back of his head once I began my rhythm. I couldn’t take any lies at this moment or I would burst out in tears. This was the life that I created for myself and the only way that I was going to get through it was if he didn’t lie to me.

He placed his hands on my hips, as I placed my feel flat on the bed. I raised up and then took him inside of me. He went in so deep and I could feel my orgasm beginning to approach.

“Don’t you dare fucking cum before me,” I demanded, “Hold it.”

He gave a quick nod of his head, “Hurry baby.”

I grabbed onto my headboard and began to chase my orgasm. Each time I lowered myself I was closer and closer to what I craved. His slick cock slid in and out of me with ease, pressing against the deepest spot inside of me, repeatedly. I became undone, my floodgates opened and I writhed in pleasure on top of him. He joined me shortly after in my place of ecstasy.

I went limp against him and lay across his chest. I needed that, and I felt a lot more grounded. The numbness that I felt before began to settle over me once again. My breathing steadied and I fell asleep in the arms of the man that I loved.

Part Two

I woke up a few hours later to the sound of Michael in the shower. I looked at his phone across from me on the nightstand. I was tempted to look through his phone to see what his plans were for the evening. But it was pointless. It wouldn’t change anything. I didn’t want to argue with him over it and I was actually looking forward to going to Adam’s party this evening. I figured that I would invite my best friend Elizabeth to come with me.

Just because I wasn’t going to stop him from going out tonight didn’t mean that I wasn’t going to push him a little. He should at least be a little nervous about the things that he’s doing. He emerged from the bathroom full of steam with a towel wrapped around his waist. He headed for his dresser to find what he was going to wear.

“So what are your plans for the evening? You didn’t mention anything to me about cancelling our plans tonight.”

“Honey, we didn’t have any real plans. We were just going to watch movies, eat, and drink.”

“Well those sound like plans to me,” I countered.

“I know, you’re right. I didn’t want to say anything because I wanted to enjoy our morning together. I have to work tonight, we just took on new clients at the firm and we’re working on an action plan.”

“Maybe I can cook you dinner and bring it by the office?”

“No,” he said smoothly, “I’m sure we’ll just order out. Thank you for the offer but I want you to go out, have a wonderful night, and don’t worry about me. It’s going to be a boring night for me but it doesn’t have to be for you.”

His ability to lie so effortlessly should have bothered me but I was amused by it. I wanted to corner him a bit more.

“It’s no trouble really. I’ll make your favorite, shrimp fettuccini alfredo and I’ll bring enough for everyone.”

“No,” he said more forcefully. “I said that we’re going to order out.”

Checkmate. I made him nervous.

“Fine,” I said putting my hands up in mock surrender, “What’s your problem anyway?”

“Sorry for snapping like that. It’s just that I’m a little stressed with these new accounts. I need the freedom to focus. Thank you for being so understanding,” he walked over to the bed and kissed me on my forehead.

He has absolutely no clue just how understanding I was truly being. I wondered how he would react if he knew that I wasn’t in the dark about his actions. He would probably have a mini freakout. The thought of it made me laugh.

“What’s so funny?”

“Nothing really, you just have no clue about how much I truly love you,” I admitted.

“I have an idea and I love you just as much, if not more. I would do anything for you.”

I thought, ‘would you stop being a cheating asshole?” but I chose to keep it to myself.

I watched him as he got dressed and left my apartment. After he hit the door I called Elizabeth and invited her over. She is the one person that I can always count on. We were college roommates during my sophomore year and we hit it off immediately. We remained roommates throughout the rest of undergraduate school. I had a deep appreciation for her because my freshman year roommate was a pain in my ass. She ate my food and wore my clothes without asking, she was also severely allergic to cleaning of any kind. At least that’s what it seemed like.

Within a few hours Elizabeth was knocking on my door.

“Hey biotch!” she said giving me a big hug.

“Hey Lizzie, come on in and grab a drink. I’m going to finished getting dressed.”

“Alright,” she said as she put her bags down.

“So we’re finally going to get to meet your next door neighbor?”

“I’ve already met him but this will be the first time that I actually interact with him in a social setting.”

I told her all about the incident that occurred that morning between Adam, Michael, and I.

“Mike can be such a jerk,” she laughed, “But it’s cute that he was jealous. That’s good for him; he needs to know that other men want you.”

“He claims that he has no reason to be jealous.”

“If I was him I would be jealous. Girl, you’re a bottled red head, beautiful porcelain skin, with a tiny curvy frame. Men fall all over you wherever we go.”

“I know you aren’t talking. They can’t see me because you’re like an Amazon princess,” I laughed.

It’s true. Elizabeth could have been a model easily but she chose to be an accountant instead. I used to envy her thick wavy black hair. She’s half Filipino and half Caucasian, she’s a beauty. Her 5’10 modelesque frame towered over my height of 5’4.

“Blah blah blah,” she said ignoring my compliment. “The point is that you’re gorgeous and you deserve better. Have you decided what you’re going to do about this situation?”

“I honestly think that I’m just going to stay with him. I love him and overall I’m happy. You know my history with relationships. This is definitely one of the better ones.”

“You make a valid point. This is one of your better relationships but it still isn’t good enough. You don’t have to share a man.”

“I just may have to; I’m tired of the dating scene. I don’t want to do it anymore and I don’t want to be single.”

“Okay, I’m not going to badger you over this situation anymore…today. Finished getting dressed so that we can go next door.”

I knew that she only wanted the best for me but I was getting frustrated with everyone’s commentary on my life. But I couldn’t blame anyone but myself because I was the one that opened my big mouth. When you share your business, people feel like they have the right to tell you how to handle it. It all was growing old really fast.

I slipped on my jeans, a form fitting sweater, and put the finishing touches on my makeup. It was just a house gathering and so I didn’t want to overdress. I had no clue who he was inviting so it was comforting to have Lizzie with me.

We walked the short distance to his door and he answered. He looked so much calmer than he had during our earlier encounter.

“Hi, I’m glad that you could make it,” he said with his endearingly crooked smile.

“Me too, I hope you don’t mind that I brought a friend,” I said pointing to Elizabeth.

“Not at all, you both are more than welcome.”

“We brought wine, and I’m Elizabeth by the way,” she said with an amused smile.

“Great. I’m Adam. Please come in,” he said as he grabbed the bottle and took it to the kitchen.

Quite few people were at his party. At least 15 people were in attendance not counting us. He had plenty of places to sit. I recognized a few of the people because they were residents of the building. Like a great hostess Adam introduced us to everyone and soon we both felt comfortable. Elizabeth helped herself to the food and I helped myself to one of the martinis that Adam made.

“Thank you so much for inviting me,” I said.

“It’s the least I could do after practically tackling you in the hallway.”

I giggled, “You did not tackle me. I know I’m tiny but I’m a tough girl.”

“Oh trust me, I have no doubts about that,” he said and his face turned slightly red.

Was he blushing? If I didn’t know any better I would think that he was flirting with me. I thought to put some distance between the both of us but then changed my mind. It was nice to see someone expressing their authentic feelings towards me. Michael was out doing God-knows-what, I deserved to be in the presence of a man that found me attractive.

“What would give you that idea?” I asked coyly.

“Well, you seemed to handle your boyfriend pretty well this morning. I thought that he was going to clobber me,” he said.

“I would never let something like that happen. Michael is a lot of things, but he’s not violent,” I responded.

“Well that’s good to know, I thought that I was going to have to put my Wing Chun skills to use,” he said.

“You practice Wing Chun?”

“Yeah, I’m currently on the road to becoming an instructor,” he said with pride.

“I learn something new every day. I guess it wasn’t you that I should have been worried about. I’m happy that I saved my boyfriend from a royal ass whipping.”

“I would have taken it easy on him,” he laughed.

“That’s good to know. Now I feel so much safer. When I have a problem with someone I’m going to call you.”

“You can call me any time,” he said in a playful tone.

My eyes widened in surprise at his forwardness.

“I’m sorry, that was quite inappropriate,” his blush returned to his cheeks.

“You apologize too much; you would be surprised at the amount of things that you don’t have to apologize for.”

“I would?”

“Yes, and that comment is on the list. Stop saying you’re sorry for things that you aren’t sorry for. If you are sorry for something apologize once, maybe twice, and then move on. You’re too nice of a person to live apologetically.”

“That was a really nice thing of you to say. I guess that’s my problem, I’m too nice of a person. That’s part of why I started with Wing Chun at 16. I wanted to learn how to become more assertive.”

“Has it worked?”

He laughed, “You think I’m bad now? You should have seen me in my teenage years. I was one big walking apology.”

“Oh that’s just painful to even think about. But if it counts for anything, I think you’re pretty great now. So your lessons paid off.”

He opened his mouth to speak but closed it again. I think that I rendered him speechless.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“Umm yeah, I’m fine. I’m just not that used to compliments. Especially from women that look like you.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re amazing and the only reason women aren’t complimenting you is because most of us are shy, or you leave to fast to hear it. You strike me as the talk and run kind of guy.”

“Well, I am introverted but I’m not all that shy anymore. I tend to keep to myself but those that know me, are aware of who I really am.”

“I think that I would love to see it.”

“Hopefully with time I can show you,” he answered. “I have to make more drinks for my guests. I hope that you mingle and have a good time.”

“I’m actually enjoying my time with you, I would be more than happy to help you mix it up behind your mini-bar.”

He coughed and I instantly heard the mistaken innuendo within my words.

“I didn’t mean like that!”

“I know you didn’t, but it was still pretty funny. Let’s go make these drinks.”

I walked behind his bar and played bartender for the remainder of the night. Elizabeth was busy speaking to one of the single guys in attendance. Every so often she would wiggle her eyebrow at me to let me know that she’s having a great time. That man didn’t stand a chance once she decided that she was interested in him. She has the ability to put men under her spell and they belong to her until she grows bored with them, and she gets bored pretty easily.

I enjoyed my night. I got to converse with everyone at the party while keeping busy. I also talked to Adam for most of the night. I learned a lot about him in a short period of time and I realized how much I missed being able to talk to a person about anything. I didn’t have that luxury with Michael because he’s obsessed with his work and that monopolizes most of our conversations. Now that he’s started dating other women, I don’t get much of that anymore either.

As the night got later, his apartment began to clear out.

“Kerry,” Elizabeth said in a tone that told me she was about to ask for something or tell me something that I wasn’t going to like.

“Yes?” I asked as I collected glasses.

“I’m about to go hang out with Brice for the night. I hope you don’t mind.”

I sighed, “I don’t mind, just be good, and be careful. You call me no matter what by 2 A.M or I’ll hunt your ass down. Don’t make me worry.”
