She moved her hips and he was lost. He gripped her ass in his hands and lifted her up so her legs wrapped around his waist. He braced her back against the wall and used the power of his legs to sink into her over and over again. He couldn’t slow or stop. Her nails raked his back and he trailed his teeth on her neck in retaliation. Her head dropped back, giving him more access. He’d never seen anything sexier than the look of abandon on her face.
“I’m not going to last, Cat.”
Her gaze focused on him, those blue eyes captivating him while her hands gripped his hair. “I’m not asking you to.”
His balls drew up tight as he plunged into her again and again, harder and harder. She gave a high cry and her insides rippled around him. He groaned and lost himself as the orgasm took him.
Cat shuddered against him as he tried to breathe again. Her lips were swollen from his kisses, her face flushed and her eyes bright. His heart skipped a beat. Fuck breathing. He kissed her and her arms wrapped tight around him.
He pulled back and grinned. “Told you we were good together.”
Her blue eyes lit with mischief and challenge. “Is that all you’ve got, sailor?”
He could love this woman. He bent and swept her up in his arms. “Be careful what you ask for, chère.”
The alarm buzzed and Cat hit it to stop the noise.
5:30 a.m.
She pulled the covers over her head. Just one snooze. She snuggled further into the warmth, her hand reaching out for Rhys’s hard body. It had been a month since they’d gotten back from Nigeria and they’d spent most of those nights together, either at her place or at his new apartment.
Her hand came up empty. She opened her eyes to see Rhys already in his running shorts and t-shirt. His long, muscled legs were almost as good to look at as his chest.
“Come on, sleepyhead,” Rhys’s warm drawl seemed to caress her. “If we don’t go now, we won’t have time.”
She threw the covers back. “If I’d known how chipper you were in the mornings, I’d have left you in Nigeria.”
He threw her running gear at her. “Then you would have missed some of the best sex of your life.”
She laughed. So true, but the man didn’t need to know that.
Her phone beeped from the bedside table. Rhys’s chimed from his pocket.
She snagged hers. “Blackwell’s calling us in. Looks like another mission. Briefing in thirty minutes.”
“I’ll make coffee,” Rhys said. “You grab the shower first.”
They made it to the briefing with minutes to spare. She still held Rhys’s hand when they walked in. She’d forgotten to let go. Her stomach clenched when she saw Marc and Zach already at the conference table. She let go of Rhys’s hand, but it was too late. They’d seen.
She lifted her chin. She’d made the decision to be with Rhys, she just hadn’t advertised it. It was time her team knew and came to terms with it. She sat down and waited for the ribbing to start.
“Any ideas what this is about?” Zach asked her.
She blinked. Then decided to lay all the cards on the table, as Rhys would say. “What? No jokes?”
Zach smiled at her and Marc quirked an eyebrow. “Did you think we didn’t know?” Marc said. “You two have been walking around with freaking perma-grins on your faces all month. How could we not know?”
Zach rolled his eyes. “What Marc’s trying to say is that we’re good with it. We trust you both not to let it affect the team or a mission.”
Her shoulders relaxed. It was good to have the truth out. Her team would function better for it. She smiled at Rhys and he squeezed her hand once under the table.
“Glad to hear it,” she said to Zach and Marc.
Blackwell strode in at that moment. “We’ve had news. Al Shabah is rumored to be on the move.”
Zach straightened, a fierce glint in his eye. “Do we know where he is?” Zach had been tracking the terrorist Al Shabah for months.
“Negative. But we believe he’s heading for the States. As soon as we have confirmation we’ll be sending Alpha team in.”
Cat listened to the rest of the brief. She and her team would begin training scenarios related to this terrorist that favored bombings of civilian locations, as well as tracking him with all of E.D.G.E.’s significant resources.
“Valkyrie,” Blackwell said. “I want a daily report. Al Shabah must be stopped.”
“Yes, sir,” she said.
They all stood when Blackwell left the room. Cat turned to Zach. “Doc, I want you to find Dani and have her help you track down Al Shabah. Marc, Rhys and I will brush up on our demolitions. We’ll be ready for anything this asshole throws at us.”
Marc and Zach agreed and left the room. Rhys stood quietly, watching her.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“We’re in this together,” he said.
And she knew exactly what he was talking about. This was the first real mission since they’d rescued the girls. He was asking if she would doubt him.
She went to him and hugged him tight. His muscles tensed under her hands. She pulled back and looked into his eyes. “I trust your judgment and your skills as an operator. More, I trust you as the man who holds my heart. I will never leave you behind again.”
He smiled and his arms came around her. “Good. I came to E.D.G.E. to find you. I won’t let you push me aside again. You’re stuck with me.”
She kissed him, and the familiar liquid fire rolled through her. She hated having to pull away. “I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now let’s get to work. We’ve got a tango to catch.”

Unfortunately, the Boko Haram is very real and have massacred 1000’s of innocents. They use the guise of religion to spread their hatred. I hope this story shows that the people and the choices they make are the ones at fault, not any religion they choose to hide behind. I also want to reiterate, that while the Boko Haram is real, any and all events and names in this story are purely fictitious.
Thank you for taking this journey with me. I hope you’ll enjoy the next story as well!
