Demi hung up the phone, thinking that she wanted Enry dead now more than ever. Her business meeting that morning had been a great success, so she was free again to do whatever needed to be done without worrying about business. When Greg arrived at her hotel suite, he looked exhausted. Demi leaped into his arms. She missed him and had been afraid something could have happened to him if Laurel hadn’t showed up, to free him from the hands of Enry. What was Enry up to? Why was he after Greg? Why would he tie him up and gag him? Demi would get the answers she needed soon enough. As Greg relaxed on the sofa, Demi turned on the shower as hot as the water could go, allowing the steam to fill the entire room. She reached for Greg’s hands when she walked back into the living area, pulling him up to her.

She led him into the bathroom, when she removed his clothing, and then her own. They admired each other’s bodies, letting the steamy mist take them to another state of mind. Stepping into the huge shower, Demi adjusted the jets to the perfect rhythm. Greg stood behind her, massaging her shoulders. His hands moved down to her waist and then to her ample and firm ass. He stroked down her firm thighs and calves, until he got to her beautiful feet. He massaged every inch of her. Her body gave into him, trembling from his touch. Greg knew just what she needed and how it was supposed to be done.

Turning to face Greg, Demi had plans for her hands too. She caressed his neck, kissing the water from it, making sweet nectar of her own. Greg moaned. She had found his spot. His knees buckled. When Demi finished performing the perfect symphony on his neck, she kissed his chest. Before she was able to finish her melody, he began one of his own. As he caressed her soft breasts, Greg could not believe their special day was happening so soon. He knew that what they were about to share would be beautiful. He wanted it to last forever, and would do whatever it took to make sure it did.

Marking her body with his lips, careful not to miss any part of it, he tenderly gripped her waist, bringing her closer to him. Lifting her up, Greg leaned back against the shower wall to balance himself. They danced the dance of lovers, basking in each other’s hidden treasures. Demi had never experienced the art of lovemaking the way she shared with Greg, except with Makei, and she knew it was something she would enjoy the rest of their lives together. As their rhythm became urgent, intense, she rotated her hips. She held on tighter to Greg, who was creating his own tempo. Demi gyrated in circular motions. Greg could no longer take the torture as he felt the burning in his loins. He released his orgasm into the depths of her soul, piercing the walls of her flower with his seed.

All he wanted was for that moment to never end. When his seed was planted inside her, he let her down, turning her around. He spread tender kisses down her back, her butt, her legs, and her feet. Before he continued, he turned her back to face him. Tears ran down her cheeks, as she stared into his eyes, penetrating her soul. Slowly kissing his way down the front of her body, Greg ravished Demi with his tongue. When he got to the sweet, warm, wet spot between her thighs, he took one of her legs and put it over his shoulder, held the other one with his arm, and parted her lips until he found her pearl. Demi moaned, trying to keep focus. She was seeing stars. She did not want to miss anything that Greg offered, and began to move her hips into his lips. He teased her, sliding his tongue over her hidden jewel, and in and out of her wetness. Greg savored the taste of her. The smoothness and plumpness of her swollen gem looked beautiful as he captured it with his mouth, sucking on it like his last meal.

The sweetness of her juices quenched his thirst. He started to lose control when he looked up and saw the pleasurable agony spread across her face. Hypnotized by how Demi moved her body against his mouth, he kissed, sucked, licked, and bit gently, devouring Demi’s love button. She pressed into his mouth harder, almost slipping down the shower wall. Greg held her up. She was not getting away from him yet. He wasn’t done. He took her like that for several minutes before penetrating her with his fingers. The wetness on his fingers increased the urge to enter her with so much force. Demi screamed his name over and over, from both pleasure and pain. As they danced another dance, they became one. They did not know where one body ended and the other began. Greg was in love. He knew he would never leave the woman he was making love to, but a voice in his head told him he couldn’t stay. He quickly put that thought out of his mind.

After they washed each other thoroughly, they ordered room service and did not leave the hotel suite the rest of the day. Instead they made more perfect music together. Their bodies were now one, which meant they would never be apart. Demi was the happiest woman alive, and so she did something she had not done in a long time. She prayed, thanking God for placing Greg in his life. At that moment, she didn’t know God hadn’t had a thing to do with placing Greg and many others in her life. Rather, they came from a great evil. With all the she had endured in her life, Demi believed she needed a miracle, and her miracle was lying next to her, snoring softly. She smiled. She knew that she would learn to love that sound as time went by.

Demi was already awake when Greg got up the next morning. He was surprised to see that Demi was packed. As he watched her, admiring the beauty she possessed, he fought the voices speaking to him again. “Are we going somewhere?” he asked, rubbing sleep from his eyes. Demi did not want him to worry about her, but she had to go to Memphis today. This was the only time she had to finish off the next mane on her list. “I have to go back to Las Vegas for a business meeting tomorrow,” she lied. “I just found out about it. I will be on the next flight back to New York before you even miss me, promise.” Although she hated lying to Greg, Demi couldn’t tell him the complete truth.

They ate breakfast together, and then Greg went with her to the airport. Demi was apprehensive at first, but decided she wanted to see him before she got on her plane. Security wouldn’t let Greg go to the gate with her without a ticket, so they said their good-byes in the terminal. Demi was grateful. How would she explain boarding a flight to Memphis instead of Las Vegas?

Greg kissed Demi is if it would be his last time, causing her knees to tremble. She did not want to leave him, but knew she had no choice. If she wanted a life of happiness with Greg, she had to finish what she started. She would then be able to move forward with the life she so long awaited.

As she boarded the plane, Dem
i put on her game face. Devin Masters was in big trouble. The way he treated her was unacceptable, and simply could not go on unpunished. He was about to feel her rage, a rage so towering, it scared her just thinking of it.

As Greg watched Demi disappear into the crowd, he missed her already. When she got back, he would tattoo her body with his tongue in a way he knew would satisfy her for a lifetime, and leave her permanently marked. He wanted to give his all to her, and in every way. But the darkness was becoming too powerful for him to fight. Soon he would have to do what he came to do.

Chapter 14

THE WEATHER in Memphis was beautiful, sunny with a nice breeze. Not a cloud was in the sky. A good day for making love to Greg Demi thought, on her drive from the airport to her hotel. She would not be in town long, so she rented a car and drove to a cheap hotel instead of a five-star one. It was close to the airport, and she could just gather her bag and be on her merry way once her mission was complete. Memphis was one of her favorite places. The music, the food, and the people made it the perfect city to visit. Demi always made sure she went to Beale Street whenever she was there. It was the Memphis version on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. A person could see just about anything on either of those famous landmarks. Demi laughed, remembering the many hilarious things she had witnessed in both cities. She suddenly couldn’t wait to go back to New Orleans. It was just something about the place that washed all her cares away.

Knowing Devin, he would probably be on Beale Street with some of the players later that evening, as always, so she had more than enough time to get settled and change into something more suitable for their reunion. Plus, she wanted to call Greg to let him know she made it safely. Devin Masters was the physical therapist and head athletic trainer for the Tennessee Titans. Getting that position had been his main goal back when they were a couple. He had just been getting his practice up and running then, straight out of grad school. Demi admired him for his drive and determination, but later found out that it had no limits. Devin would do whatever it took to keep his dreams alive, even if it meant ending an innocent life.  Sadness consumed Demi thinking of such a horrible time in her life, but she willed those thoughts away. Now was not the time to feel defeated or empty. She needed to be full-force when dealing with someone like Devin.

Their first meeting had been purely accidental. She was in Memphis on business as usual, and was at a restaurant waiting to meet a client. Devin Masters walked up to her table, talking on his cell phone, and nonchalantly took a seat next to her. She tried to get his attention to no avail, and when her client finally arrived, Devin looked confused. He quickly got off the phone, apologizing to the both of them. The client knew him, introducing them. Demi had been appalled at his rudeness and obvious dismissal toward her when he’d been on the phone, and wasn’t inclined to be friendly to him.

After she and her client wrapped up their business and he rushed off to another appointment, Demi decided to stay at the restaurant and have dessert. She ordered the seven-layer chocolate almond cake with cream cheese icing, with homemade vanilla ice cream. With the first bit she was in heaven. It was sinful. After finishing the last of the dessert, she pulled out her phone to check her emails. Suddenly, there stood all six foot three inches of Devin Masters, smiling the brightest smile at her. Demi could not help but return the smile. The cake had her in a great mood, plus, he seemed harmless.

Devin asked if he could join her for coffee. As they chatted, they learned that they knew some of the same people, had attended the same high school a few years before he and his family moved to Memphis, and surprisingly shared the same birthday, Valentine’s Day. It was a hard time for Demi. She had broken up with Makei just a few months earlier, so her heart was still mending. She was lonely, and when Devin suggested they have lunch together the next day, before she left Memphis in the evening, she agreed. They found out that they had even more things in common one being that Demi was a die-hard football fan. After spending hours together with Devin, enjoying his company, the ice around her heart slowly melted, and she decided to give love another chance.

Whenever possible, Demi would travel to Tennessee and Devin would travel to Las Vegas, to be with each other. When football was in its off season, and they had been dating for months, Devin moved in with Demi. Life was great. She was happy, but she knew deep down inside that their life together was just too good to be true. Meeting Devin's family was something Demi looked forward to, since she had no family of her own. His parents fell in love with her the moment they met her. His mother hugged her with such warmth Demi had fought back tears. His father and two brothers told her many funny and embarrassing stories about Devin, and advised her on how to use them to her advantage. They played cards and board games, watched home movies, and got along like she was already part of the family whenever she and Devin went to visit them. He seemed pleased that his family liked her so well. As they continued dating, they spent all their holidays with his family. Even when he was away on the road with the team, Demi would spend time with his family, attending all of the family birthday celebrations and other events she could.
