“Never,”
Jared whispered, and that was the last thing Fenix heard before he fell in an
exhausted, dreamless slumber.

Chapter five

Jared

The bright
sunlight streaming through the windows woke Jared up. Closing the curtains had
been the last thing on his mind last night and now he was paying the price. The
light didn't seem to bother Fenix though. He slept peacefully in Jared’s arms,
his head tucked under his chin. Memories from the previous night, or rather
early morning, assaulted Jared’s tired consciousness. Had all that really
happened? It seemed like a dream, a distant memory, even though it had been
just a few hours ago.

Jared
was by no means a virgin. He’d been with lots of men, all of them attractive
and experienced. Yet, he’d never felt like
that
before. Last night had been a first for him, in a lot of ways. He’d never
before invited a guy he’d just met back to his place, for example. Granted,
Fenix wasn’t some random guy – they’d met and talked at the theatre and they
were going to work together, sort of.
But still...
Jared
shook his head slightly.

He
could sit there and analyse his behaviour, his feelings, his need for this man
all he wanted, but it wouldn't make any damn difference. Jared wanted Fenix
here, right here in his bed, and he’d wanted, no –
craved
– everything that had happened last night. But what was
more,
he wanted it to happen all over again tonight, and the
night after that. He wanted to wake up with Fenix sprawled on top of him
tomorrow and the morning after.

Was
that realisation scary? Hell yes.

Jared’s
only sort of a relationship until now had been with Adam, but he’d never felt
that way about him. He’d never needed Adam so much that he wasn’t willing to
let
him

out
of
sight, even for a second.

Despite
all that, despite the fact that he’d known Fenix
a day
, despite all rational thought and reason, Jared decided that
he was not going to stand in his own way. He was not going to sabotage whatever
this was, overanalyse and obsess over it. He was going to be honest with
himself and with Fenix, and he’d take one day at a time.

Fenix
stirred in his arms, sighing softly as he turned on his back. His long bangs
fell in his eyes and he swatted them away sleepily. He looked so cute, so young
and sexy and gorgeous. Jared’s heart flipped inside his chest and he felt a
sharp stab of tenderness. Unable to stop himself, he leaned over Fenix, cupped
his cheek and kissed his lips gently. Fenix frowned and pouted, but didn't open
his eyes.

Jared
smiled. Just when he’d thought Fenix could not get any cuter, he pouted in his
sleep. Those plump lips were made for pouting.
And kissing.
And they looked incredibly hot around his cock.

Jared
kissed Fenix again, this time a bit firmer, parting his mouth with his tongue
and sucking his lip into his mouth. Fenix reacted on an instinct it seemed,
because his eyes were still closed and he didn't give any indication that he
was awake. Opening his mouth, he took all of Jared’s tongue in and kissed him
back languidly. Jared trailed his hands over Fenix’s warm, naked body, feeling
every muscle, every perfect part of him, until he reached his cock and realised
he was fully erect and leaking already.

“You’d
better be awake or you’re
gonna
get molested in your
sleep,” Jared murmured against Fenix’s lips. Fenix smiled and opened one of his
eyes. “Good.”

Jared
slid down his body, placing kisses and licks and little bites all over it,
paying special attention to his nipples. Fenix groaned and arched his back
asking for more. Jared teased him, sucking on the skin in the crease between
his thigh and groin, slowly blowing over his cock but never touching it. He
played with his balls and his ass, still not touching what Fenix wanted most.

“Jared!”
Fenix shouted in frustration, thrusting his hips up.

“Yes?”
Jared asked innocently. “Did you want something?”

Instead
of biting the bait and indulging Jared in his teasing games, Fenix gave him a
wicked look, licked his palm slowly and wrapped his elegant fingers around his
shaft. He started jerking himself off, his back bowing off the mattress, his
eyes closing in bliss. He moaned in the most seductive way possible and slid
his thumb over the wet head, smearing the
precome
for
better friction.

It
was the hottest thing Jared had ever seen.

He
was half tempted to let him finish himself off, but reconsidered. Jared wanted
that cock in his mouth, badly. Grunting, he removed Fenix’s hand forcefully and
took his cock all the way down his throat.

“Jesus!”
Fenix cried out and bucked his hips involuntarily. Jared deep throated him
again and swallowed around the head.
“Oh, God!
This
feels so good!” Fenix mumbled.

Jared
had to agree. It felt incredible.

He
palmed his own erection and started jerking off, never losing the rhythm on Fenix’s
cock. Fenix was whispering incoherently, trashing on the bed and bunching the
sheets in his fists. Jared increased the speed on his cock and felt the orgasm
starting to build up in his belly.

Fenix
tapped him on the shoulder lightly and said hoarsely,

“I’m
gonna
come, baby...”

Jared
did not need the warning: he wanted everything Fenix had to give. The moment
the first drops of semen hit his tongue, Jared felt his own orgasm explode. It
was an intense feeling – tasting Fenix as he came, giving him such pleasure as
he experienced it himself.

When
Fenix’s erection stopped pulsing in his mouth, Jared let it
flop
out and climbed back up Fenix’s body. He hovered over his mouth, wanting to
kiss him, but unsure if Fenix would like tasting himself on his lips. Sensing
the hesitation, Fenix hooked his hand behind Jared’s neck and pulled him down
for an eager, wet kiss.

Mornin
’,” Jared murmured against his mouth, before lying
down next to Fenix, pulling him closer.

Mornin
’,” he replied and curled around Jared, resting his
head on his chest.

“What
are you going to do today?” Jared asked as he played with Fenix’s silky, blond
strands of hair.

“I don't have any plans. It’s Sunday, and I
don’t have a show, so...” Fenix shrugged.

“How
about I make us breakfast, and then we go to the theatre? You can watch the
show again backstage or just hang out. I finish around six, so we can go to
dinner or a see a film, or whatever you feel like,” Jared suggested.

Fenix
propped his chin on Jared’s chest and studied him with those impossibly blue
eyes.

“Yeah?”
He smiled that
charming smile of his, and Jared brushed his fingers over his cheekbone,
trailing down along his jaw.

“Yeah.”

The
truth was he didn't want to let Fenix go yet. He wanted to spend time with him
not having sex. Get to know him. Buy him dinner, take him to the cinema and
introduce him to all his friends.

“I
want to go home at some point, change into some fresh clothes and pack a bag
with some more stuff I’ll need to take to the dressing room, so that I don't
have to go to the theatre tomorrow when everyone will be moving in.”

“Perfect.
I don't have a show tomorrow either. We can spend the day together. It doesn’t
make any sense for you to go back to... Where do you live?”

“Greenwich.”

“Greenwich.
You can pack an overnight bag and stay here again tonight...” Jared trailed off
when his eyes fell on Fenix’s puzzled expression. He realised that while he’d
made peace with the fact that he didn't want to let Fenix go, even though
they’d met a day ago, Fenix might not have reached the same conclusion. It
might have been just a fling for him. “I’m sorry... I’ll shut up now.”

Fenix
laughed, his eyes twinkled in the brightly lit room.

“No,
don't shut up. You’re cute when you ramble.”

“Cute?
Me?” Jared pointed at himself in mock surprise. “I’ll give you cute!” he roared
and tackled Fenix, tickling him. He straddled his hips once Fenix was on his
back, forced his arms above his head and held them there as he leaned down and
kissed him.

“OK,”
Fenix said breathlessly as their lips parted.

“OK?
To what?”

“Everything.
I’ll pack a
bag, spend the night here and hang out with you tomorrow.”

Jared’s
smile was so wide his cheeks hurt.

Jared tagged
along with Fenix as he went home to pick up his stuff. He lived in a small
flat, cluttered with cheap furniture. Fenix explained his landlord was a
hoarder and cheapskate who didn't like throwing stuff away. Seriously, who needed
three coffee tables in a one-bedroom flat? The carpet used to be beige once
upon a time, but now was a weird, faded colour that depressed the hell out of
Jared.

“Sit
down, make yourself comfortable,” Fenix said and pointed towards the ugly sofas
that didn’t match. “I won't be a minute.” He disappeared towards the bedroom
and left Jared alone in the living room.

He
sat down and
a heaviness
settled on his chest. Fenix
lived in this dump,
then
he stayed in a similar dump
with Jared. He deserved so much more.

Tomorrow,
Jared was going to go to the bank and apply for that loan he’d been planning to
get ever since he bought his apartment. He didn't want to wait to
save
the money anymore. He wanted to
hire the contractors by the end of the week and have a cosy, clean, fully
furnished home by the end of next month.

Fenix
appeared out of the bedroom, two duffel bags in hand. Jared stood up, grabbed
one of the bags and they headed out.

Jared was
styling his hair and Fenix was putting his stuff in his part of the wardrobe
when there was a knock on the dressing room door.

“Yeah?”
Jared called, his
eyes never leaving the mirror.

Adam
opened the door and walked in, his eyes fixing on Fenix as he frowned.

“Hi,”
he said to nobody in particular.

“Hey,”
Fenix greeted him with a smile as he continued to arrange his belongings
meticulously.

“Can
I talk to you for a sec?” Adam turned to Jared.
“In private?”

“Can
it wait? I really need to fix my hair and head to the costume shop.”

Fenix
stopped what he was doing and closed the wardrobe door.

“I’m
gonna
go get a coffee. You guys want something?”

“Fenix,
you don't have to go. Adam and I will talk later. I don't have any time right
now anyway.” Jared protested.

“No,
it’s OK. I’m finished. I feel like a cup of coffee. I’ll catch you later,” he
said with a smile and kissed Jared on his way out. “Nice to see you, Adam,” he
said as he brushed past him. Adam grunted something unintelligible in response.

“What
the fuck is the matter with you?” Adam said the second Fenix was out the door.

“What
do you mean?”

“First
you have a go at me last night at the club, telling me to back off, and I
quote, ‘He’s mine’.” Adam made air quotes with his fingers.
“Since
when are you the possessive, caveman type?
You’ve never done that, not
even when I seduced that guy you liked right in front of you.” Adam spread his
arms wide in exasperation.

“Which one?”
Jared asked,
sarcastically raising an eyebrow. Adam was not picky when it came to his bed
mates, but he especially loved to steal the ones Jared liked. It had never
bothered Jared. Not until now.

“And
then,” Adam continued, rolling his eyes as he ignored Jared’s last comment,
“you almost fuck him right there on the dance floor, disappear into the toilets
no less, and then disappear altogether! I tried to call you, but I got your
voicemail every time!” Adam's voice rose with every word and he looked furious.
He was right though, none of that was the way Jared usually acted. The last
time he’d had sex with someone in a club’s toilet had been over a year ago when
Adam hadn’t been there.

“I’m
sorry,
I should have told you we were leaving. I
didn’t mean to worry you,” he apologised.

“That
is not what worried me! You’re a grown man, you can go and do whatever and
whoever you like! But this is not like you, Jared. What the hell is wrong with
you?”

Jared
grinned when he met Adam's angry eyes in the mirror. He couldn't help it. Just
thinking about last night made him act like an idiot.

“First,
I wanted to warn you that I’m seriously interested in Fenix, because knowing
you, and seeing how you looked at him, I knew you’d go after him. Second, the
guy is so hot that I couldn't wait until we got back to my place, so we had
round one in the toilets. And third, my phone must have died while I had the
best sex of my life all night long.”
