Cowboy Got Me Shook (BWWM Romance) (10 page)

“Yes, I am,” he said, “I’m fully aware.”

He climbed toward her.

“If I’m pregnant-”

He didn’t wait. “You most definitely are. If not, you will be.”

“All right,” she said, nodding. She looked out at the ranch.

“Why am I not more afraid?”

“You must feel safe with me. Don’t worry, trust that instinct. I’m not going to desert you. I did what I did because I wanted to. I had full intentions of getting you pregnant.”

“Hmm?” Her face lit up. Who would’ve known Angel was secretly the type who wanted a child early? Grant did. It made sense. All of that hatred for living in the country, having the simple life. Then there were her parents, who would’ve tarnished her ideas of a stable relationship. It was something she always wanted, but never thought she could have.

“I’m so glad I was so naughty and got stuck on this ranch.”

“Hell, when you put it like that, I’m glad you were so much trouble as well,” he said, and he gave her another kiss. “I sound like I’m already under your thumb.”

They wrestled in the grass, rolling over one another. Grant pinned her, and then they kissed some more, touching each other, getting used to what it was like to not fear the other leaving.

Grant held to his word. He cooked her an impressive meal, a four course dinner. There was french onion soup, and then there were even appetizers, strips of ribs, and then the main course, the best steak he could cook. He had been saving it for himself, keeping it fresh in his storage for awhile, but he wanted her to have it. It was a special occasion. After the meal, she held her stomach, groaning.

“Are you trying to kill me with food?”

“Maybe. What’d be wrong with that?”

“Nothing. You almost killed me with sex already. I figure food is your next option.”

He passed her a cold glass of iced tea. “Everything is fresh, right? That’s what I like most about this place. Anyway, I wanted to cook this meal for you because I think you deserve it. You’ve really come into your own, you know that? And it’s a celebration of our future together.”

“Don’t be getting all soft on me, Grant,” she said, chugging the iced tea. Angel really wanted to be more attentive, but the food was just that good. She could barely keep up with the conversation.

“Sorry,” she said, wiping her lips. “Your food is really good.” She beamed again. She looked extremely happy, and that happiness transferred over to Grant.

He took her plate. She tried to get up to do it herself.

“Nah, I’ve got it honey. Don’t you worry about it. Like I said, my gift to you.”

She beamed even more. If Grant laid it on any thicker, he knew he would be going overboard. He tossed the plate near the counter. She rose anyway, curling her arms around his hips. She kissed his back, smelling him, his cologne a woodsy oak with spice.

“Should I go outside and help out?”

“No, don’t do that. You stay right here.”

He started the water. Before he could pass the plate over it, she pulled him around, or at least tried to.

“I’m headed out.”

“Where you going?”

Not to a club? Not to Shanice’s place? They were the furthest from her mind.

“Going to the store. I think I better take a test, don’t you think?”

“That’d be smart,” he said, and he was happy to see she was still smiling. He gave her another kiss.

“I’ll be back in half an hour or so. You get those dishes done and then we’ll have some more fun.”

“Sounds good to me.”

Angel leaned on her toes to kiss him. Then she swayed, her hips rocking, and he gave her a whoop on her ass, looking incredible in her tight jeans. He turned on the water and began washing. He heard her yell goodbye and then heard the door slam shut. He hurried cleaning, knowing that their would be another passionate night waiting for him.

He almost didn’t hear the phone ring.

When he answered it, Grant didn’t even think about who could be on the other end. He forgot that Angel was there for a reason.

She’s here for me to take care of…and not in the way that I’ve been doing.

Things change,
he thought, but he didn’t know how he would explain that to the person on the other end.

It was Angel’s mother. “Hello, Grant?”

He paused for a moment. It felt like forever since he agreed to watch Angel. Now he thought about his choices. He considered what he could do. He didn’t want to cause problems, but figured that it would happen no matter what path he took. He put the phone closer to his lips.

“Hello, Tiana?” He knew it was her. There was no denying that.

“Yes, hi Grant, I was just checking in to see how Angel is doing.”

“Oh, right,” he said.
She’s doing great. You’ve got quite the hot daughter, Tiana. Stop it, Grant…that’s her mother. Don’t you cause problems when there doesn’t need to be none.

What do you mean? I already caused a hell of a problem. I got her daughter pregnant.

He gripped the phone tight.

“She’s doing great,” he said. Grant was still thinking about how he would play this. He knew it was best not to rush to a decision. This would be a tricky situation.

“Oh great, that’s good to hear.”

Grant thought about Angel, bent over and at his will, her pussy ready for him to come inside.
Uhh…just great.

If it’s going well, you can let her come home. She wants to come to my place, doesn’t she?”

“Right,” he said, but that worried him.

I can’t allow this to happen.

Grant didn’t care what he said now. He knew he couldn’t give Angel up.

“Angel is going to be staying for much longer.”

There was a long silence on the other end, then a gurgled, “What?”

“Angel is staying here. I’m sorry Tiana. I know how strange this might sound to you, but that’s the truth.”

She laughed. “You’re kidding right? Oh, I hope she hasn’t been too much trouble. You’re being sarcastic, right?”

“No, afraid not. Truth is,” and Grant paused for a moment, readying himself for the fallout. “I’ve fallen in love with Angel.”

3…2…1.

“What the hell did you say? Grant, put Angel on the phone.”

“Sorry, I know it’s got to be quite a shock, but I needed to tell you the truth.”

Sometimes it was best to tell the truth in one big dose rather then spread it out. It would be a shock, she would be furious, but he couldn’t lie. The decision was made. He heard rummaging in the background, then heard the phone slam down, but it wasn’t hung up.

She picked it up again.

“You get Angel on the phone right now.”

“Angel is out.”

I don’t care! Get her on the phone right now.”

“Look, I know you’re shocked, but Angel is old enough where she can make her own choices, and this is the choice she’s made. Now I’m going to hang up now. Angel can talk to you once she’s gotten back from the store.”

He heard more screaming as he pulled the phone away from his ear. Then he hung up.

She would probably still be screaming, he realized, as he took a seat, his bones weak and his mind weary. He didn’t want to cause any problems, but sometimes in life, that’s the only choice you can make. He held his head in his hands, feeling bad for Angel, who would get the brunt of her anger.

If Angel didn’t get back soon, he bet she would call the cops. Tiana might think Grant kidnapped her, that her old friend had finally snapped. Not really, anyway, they were just having some dominance and submission lessons together. Grant didn’t know how well that would go over with the cops, even if Angel tried to explain it to them. He hoped she would hurry home. Then he remembered why she was heading out.

Could she really be pregnant? It seemed like a wonderful dream, too good to be true, but he was ready for it if it was true. He stopped cradling his head, then grabbed a beer from the fridge.

She came back in half an hour. Exactly how she said she would.

When she came in, he did his best impression of not being worried. He wanted her to do the test first, then worry about the eventual problem with her mother. She came in and sensed something was wrong, but he didn’t allow her time to ask any questions. He would ask the first question.

“You got it?”

She held it up.

“Go on, let’s see what that sucker says.”

She hurried to the bathroom. He waited again. Grant put his empty beer on the counter. He crossed his arms, feeling somewhat nervous, but then uncrossed them, realizing he looked stand offish.

Please…please…

“I’m pregnant,” she said, and she kept checking it.

Then she was in his arms. He lifted her high and gave her a kiss. She was still stunned. Wrapping her arms around him, holding him tight, he could hear her low moan, could hear her begin to whimper and cry. She wiped a tear and let go of him, hopping out of his arms.

“I’m so happy,” she said.

“Me too.”

He hugged her again. It knocked the breath out of her, and he let go. She pressed her cheek onto his stomach again.

“Grant? What’s wrong? Something is wrong. Not the baby, but something else.”

He sighed.

Thought we might have more time to celebrate than this.

“Your mother called. I told her.”

She smirked, a nervous smirk, but then it quickly shut down. “You’re joking?” Angel then scrunched her face, paced away, and flung herself onto a seat.

“Shit, shit, shit,” she said over and over.

He came up beside her and placed his hands on her shoulders.

“She wants to talk to you.”

Great
. How pissed was she?”

He could lie, but he said, “She was mighty pissed.”

“All right, let me talk to her.”

“Might want to do that right away. Don’t want her to call the police or anything.”

“Right,” she said, and she headed out the door to talk on her cell. Grant once again waited, this time with the added bonus of more screaming.

It was an hour later when Angel came back in the house. She looked much different from when she left. Her hair was a mess, and he could tell she had been tossing it about. She looked like she was crying too, but wiped away the tears. Her eyes were still puffy. Still beautiful. Grant thought she looked even better, actually. There was a need to care for her, and his cock even hardened at the sight.

Stop it. Not appropriate right now.

Then the thought occurred to him that it might be very appropriate. What could be better than another night of passion to get over the fallout?

“I told her everything,” she said wearily. She sat back where she was an hour ago. It seemed much didn’t change.

“And?”

“Looks like I’ll be leaving tomorrow.”

He glared at her hard. She didn’t even notice. She was too concerned with her own problems.

Looks like you’ll be leaving tomorrow?”

That snapped her head around. She looked at him, surprised to see Grant fuming.

“Yeah, what else can I do?”

He snatched her by the wrist, taking her away from the table. Then he lead her outside. She hurried, trying to keep up with him. Grant wasn’t quite sure where he was headed. He was letting his feet do the thinking for him, but when they turned, heading toward the barn, he knew what he planned on doing to her.

“What? What are you mad about?”

“Mad? I’m not mad. I need to show you something. I need to show you how damn stupid you’re being.”

“I’m not being stupid. My mom is going to disown me. She said she’s going to call the cops on my ass.”

“And you chose fear over me?”

“No,” she said, she begged him to stop, but he kept pulling. He brought her to the barn doors, then thrust them open.

“Yes, that’s what you’re doing. I thought we were on the same level, but I see that you’re not quite there yet. You’re still afraid.”

He leaned over. She stepped back, almost stumbling, but he caught her, swinging his hand around to catch her lower back.

“Why are you so afraid?”

“I’m not.”

“Tell me,” he said, and he took her by the wrists again, leading her away. She fell to her knees. She started whimpering, and that annoyed him even more. He drove onto his knees, nudged her head aside with his chin, kissing her roughly. She leaned to the side like a rag doll. Then he did it again, and he could see some fight in her eyes.

“That’s right,” he said. He stroked her chin. “You’re mine. I thought you understood that. Seeing as how you haven’t quite fully grasped that yet, I’m going to need to prove it again.”

She smirked, just a small smirk at the corner of her lips. But her lips were also trembling. Maybe she thought she couldn’t trust him yet, but he would prove it to her.
