The gates were opened and we rode out with the royal party following behind, holding up the royal flag of the great white horse like the ones we rode upon. Our longest test of separation had begun and it was the worst one by far. Being there for the birth of my son was at risk and I could not let it happen without me; whatever it took—I’d be back.
