I have not been able to discover where or how he acquired it, but one possibility is that it was from the private collection of Howard Corning, who, at least between 1927 and 1932, was a librarian at the Baker Library at Harvard Business School and who also had in his collection at least one item belonging to Josiah Flagg. In 1933, Corning became the secretary of the Essex Institute, now the Peabody Essex Museum.
