Chapter Five
Etienne and Katherine created a world of their own. Etienne decided not to leave Earth, as he found everything that he was looking for in Katherine. She meant everything to him and he wasn’t required to look any further. She was his Zahari, his home.
They got married in both human as well as Zaharian style. Katherine introduced him to her family and friends as her neighbor. For them, he was just like any other red head guy who was in love with Katherine. That was their secret and in no way, Katherine could tell even a single soul about Etienne.
After Etienne gave Katherine her soul, while making love to her, Katherine realized that she was expecting his child. They were already in love and decided to marry, so that they could make it official for the rest of the world. They had a beautiful baby girl whom they named Nadia, which mean “the beloved” in the Zaharian language.
It was just like any other day for Katherine. She was trying to make chicken soup for the family, when she felt dizzy. She called for Etienne, who came running from the next room. It didn’t take him long to realize why Katherine was feeling no nauseous.
He touched her belly and felt a moment. “Did you miss your cycle?” he asked.
It was enough for Katherine to realize that she was expecting. She could feel something cosmic moving inside of her. No rule of science or human religion could explain it. It was just true love.
Etienne helped her and took her to the bedroom where she lay comfortably. He sang her a beautiful Zahari lullaby and watched her sleep. He looked at the dark blue skyline and realized that there was nowhere in the entire universe where he would rather be. He was with Katherine, who was the love of his life. He would hear Nadia’s voice coming from the living room. He was complete. He was exactly where he belonged. He was home.
